Need help with a middle name, please!

My husband and I are TTC and we’ve gotten a jump start on the baby naming, having already picked out our boy name years ago. We plan to name our first son Simo (pronounced like it rhymes with [name]Jim[/name]-o) after my grandfather. I’m having a hard time coming up with a middle name to go with it, though. The name is Finnish and traditionally Finns don’t have middle names, apparently.

The only possibility I’ve come up with that I haven’t immediately discarded is Simo [name]John[/name], as [name]John[/name] is my husband’s middle name. But it really sort of seems like a cop out of a middle name. Kind of like picking “[name]Lynn[/name]” for a girl. Perfectly serviceable names but kind of dull and just there to fill space between the first and the last names.

So! Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

Simo is interesting. Could be mistaken for [name]Simon[/name] though, just a thought.

I don’t think [name]John[/name] sounds like a ‘filler’ middle name, it’s a classic with lots of worthy namesakes. Most people would probably assume it was to honour a family member.

Some other suggestions:

Simo [name]Frank[/name]
Simo [name]George[/name]
Simo [name]Luke[/name]
Simo [name]Mark[/name]
Simo [name]Paul[/name]

longer:

Simo [name]Alexander[/name]
Simo [name]Christopher[/name]
Simo [name]Benjamin[/name]
Simo [name]Jonathan[/name] (if [name]John[/name]'s too simple)
Simo [name]Nathaniel[/name]
Simo [name]Frederick[/name]
Simo [name]William[/name]

Anon, thanks for the suggestions. Simo is actually the Finnish version of [name]Simon[/name], so if someone mistakes it for that, it’s actually pretty accurate.

I kind of like Simo [name]Alexander[/name]. My [name]SIL[/name] recently used [name]Alexander[/name] for her third son’s middle name but I don’t think that necessarily rules it out for us, especially if we don’t end up using it for a few more years

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

You’re welcome, [name]Corbie[/name].

Simo is very handsome, I love foreign variations of names. [name]Glad[/name] you like [name]Alexander[/name], would you like me to try again with a different style of names?
