Need help with baby girl name!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,

We are expecting our first baby girl in [name_u]July[/name_u].

Here are the two names we like:

  1. [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]
  2. [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]

Which one you like the best?

We are open to suggestions but would like a name that isn’t too popular in the US.

Thanks

I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] best because it is unusual but known, and sounds very distinguished. On the other hand, I know so many [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]/Kaitlins that all go by [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Catie[/name_f]/Kaiti, so that makes me like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] even more.

I agree, [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is definitely my favorite, especially because I know so many Kaitlyns. Other names that come to mind:

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]

I knew a [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] that I didn’t like, and her last name was an insult. I still think it’s a nice name, and would expect it to belong to a nice person. It’s a good sign when a name can overcome bad associations. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’ve had friends named [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], I still prefer [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

I like [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], probably because I’m biased and know a [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] that is super nice and lovely, but [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is probably the rarer choice.
