I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] best because it is unusual but known, and sounds very distinguished. On the other hand, I know so many [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]/Kaitlins that all go by [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Catie[/name_f]/Kaiti, so that makes me like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] even more.
I knew a [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] that I didn’t like, and her last name was an insult. I still think it’s a nice name, and would expect it to belong to a nice person. It’s a good sign when a name can overcome bad associations. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’ve had friends named [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], I still prefer [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].
I like [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], probably because I’m biased and know a [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] that is super nice and lovely, but [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is probably the rarer choice.
