Need Help with baby names, sister is Camryn

Here is a list of names we are considering, all of our names end in the letter N, didn’t do it on purpose but how it ended up. What do you think of these any suggestions welcome. Our last name is [name]Jones[/name] so we don’t want a super popular name.

Boys Names
[name]Burton[/name] (my mothers maiden name)
[name]Mason[/name] (my dh’s name is [name]Jason[/name] is this too close)

My two favorites: Hollyn and [name]Rylan[/name]

[name]Allison[/name]- very popular
[name]Grayson[/name]- different but a little dreary for me
Hollyn- It seems a little different but for some reason I actually really like it.
[name]Lauren[/name]- very popular
[name]Lillian[/name]- very popular
[name]Morgan[/name]- not too popular, but i’m sure there are many [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Rylan[/name]- Sort of masculine but I like it.
[name]Megan[/name]- very popular

Boys Names
My two favorites: [name]Weston[/name] and [name]Burton[/name]

[name]Braden[/name]- Very popular
[name]Burton[/name] (my mothers maiden name)- I like the family connection, but it does remind me of [name]Tim[/name] [name]Burton[/name]. Still, a cool idea.
[name]Colman[/name]- I like it. Maybe [name]Coleman[/name]?
[name]Gibson[/name]- Kind of reminds me of [name]Gibbon[/name] like the monkey, but it’s ok. I think I’m just weird.
[name]Landen[/name]- Very popular, but I still like it.
[name]Weston[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Mason[/name] - definitely too close to [name]Jason[/name] in my opinion!

hm, a good deal of your names are actually pretty popular. When you say you don’t want something popular do you mean not in the top 10 or top 100?

[name]Allison[/name] – #32 in 2008. This one feels pretty dated to me as many of my classmates were named [name]Allison[/name]. (I’m in the mid-20s.)

[name]Grayson[/name] – All boy to my ears. [name]Gracie[/name]/[name]Grace[/name]/[name]Gracia[/name] would be better.

Hollyn – One of your most unique choices. I think most people will mis-hear it as [name]Holland[/name]. This is my favorite from your girl’s list.

[name]Lauren[/name] – #30 in 2008. Classic and beautiful name. If you are going for less popular, go for [name]Laura[/name].

[name]Lillian[/name] – #29 in 2008, and [name]Lily[/name] is sitting at #24 and rising.

[name]Morgan[/name] --#46 in 2008 – I always think [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Le[/name] [name]Fay[/name] (evil sorceress in Arthurian tales).

[name]Rylan[/name] – Another less common choice, but it sounds very masculine to me.

[name]Megan[/name] – #100 in 2008. Sweet and classic. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Meagan[/name]? (MEE-gan)

Boys Names

[name]Braden[/name] – If you are trying not to do a popular name, AVOID this. [name]Aiden[/name]/[name]Jayden[/name]/[name]Braden[/name]/[name]Hayden[/name]/[name]Caden[/name] in all their forms are HUGE right now. [name]Even[/name] if [name]Braden[/name] itself doesn’t have a high rank, it’s considered part of a “meganame” since they are all essentially the same name. (In 2008 [name]Brayden[/name] was at #51, [name]Jayden[/name] was #11, [name]Aiden[/name] was #16, [name]Aidan[/name] was #59, and so on and so forth).
See Nameberry’s blog about the advent of the meganame here:

[name]Burton[/name] (my mothers maiden name) – [name]Love[/name] the family ties, and this is very unique!

[name]Colman[/name] – A nice name, but for some reason I can’t get the outdoor supply company out of my head.

[name]Gibson[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] this. I knew a little boy named [name]Gibson[/name] and he was the most darling little blonde-haired angel! Of course, I have some negative associations because of [name]Mel[/name] [name]Gibson[/name] and his recent scandal, but other than that the name is wonderful!

[name]Landen[/name] – #44 in 2008. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Linden[/name] at all?

[name]Weston[/name] – A solid, masculine choice.

[name]Mason[/name] (my dh’s name is [name]Jason[/name] is this too close) – Well, it’s better in my opinion than naming him [name]Jason[/name] [name]Junior[/name]! I would personally rule it out due to the rhyming though.

My votes on your list would be Hollyn and [name]Gibson[/name].
Good luck!

Here are a few other ideas for girl’s names that aren’t quite as popular as the ones on your list:

[name]Marin[/name] (pronounced either MAH-rin or [name]MARE[/name]-in)
[name]Shana[/name]/[name]Shanna[/name] (rhymes with [name]Anna[/name])
[name]Audrey[/name] (okay this is still in the top 100 but I think it’s lovely)
[name]Seren[/name] (love it – means “star”)
[name]Kari[/name]/[name]Karin[/name] (pn “car”-ee, “car”-inn)
[name]Aislin[/name] ([name]Ash[/name]-lin)

[name]Allison[/name]: [name]Allison[/name] is very popular (I actually know a few people named [name]Allison[/name] [name]Jones[/name], too), and like [name]Dove[/name] said, it feels dated to me (1980s…).

[name]Grayson[/name]: [name]Grayson[/name] is all boy to me, and with so many spellings (ie: Gracyn, Graycen, Gracen, etc.), it’s even more popular than its present popularity ranking.

Hollyn: This looks invented to me, and I can see it being confused with [name]Holland[/name]. (It also has [name]Camryn[/name]'s “yn” ending, so I think some of your other choices sound less matchy.) [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Hollis[/name] or [name]Holland[/name]?

[name]Lauren[/name]: Like [name]Allison[/name], [name]Lauren[/name] is very popular, and also pretty dated.

[name]Lillian[/name]: I love [name]Lillian[/name], but can better see a more modern name with the modern [name]Camryn[/name]. ([name]Lillian[/name] is also very popular…)

[name]Morgan[/name]: It’s very popular, but I can see it with [name]Camryn[/name].

[name]Rylan[/name]: I think [name]Rylan[/name] is too close to [name]Camryn[/name]'s “ryn” ending…

[name]Megan[/name]: [name]Megan[/name] feels very dated to me…

[name]Braden[/name]: If you’re trying to avoid popular names, I’d definitely avoid [name]Braden[/name], which is a meganame ([name]Aiden[/name], [name]Brayden[/name], [name]Cayden[/name], [name]Hayden[/name], etc…)

[name]Burton[/name] (my mothers maiden name): I think this is handsome, and I love how it has meaning to you…

[name]Colman[/name]: I like [name]Coleman[/name] more than [name]Colman[/name], but I think both are too matchy with [name]Camryn[/name].

[name]Gibson[/name]: I think think this is great!

[name]Landen[/name]: This looks misspelled to me (I’ve only seen [name]Landon[/name]), but [name]Cam[/name] and Lan sound very similar to me. You may also like [name]Leland[/name].

[name]Weston[/name]: I think this is nice…

Some more you like  :

[name]Linden[/name] (but I think that a name not ending in N would be less matchy with [name]Camryn[/name])

[name]Reed[/name] (although it’s close to [name]Camryn[/name]'s ending)

Good luck!

I would use [name]Rylan[/name] for a boys name.

I like Rhoswen for a girl, for ending in n, not popular criteria.

[name]Allison[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it though i am bias as its my name! I get called [name]Allie[/name] which i love and the two L’s makes it a little more unusual (where i live in the UK anyway!

[name]Grayson[/name] - sounds quite masculine

Hollyn - [name]Haven[/name]'t heard this name before, i like it!
[name]Lauren[/name] - Its ok
[name]Lillian[/name] - nn [name]Lily[/name]?
[name]Morgan[/name] - its ok
[name]Rylan[/name] - Like it, kind of tomboyish!?
[name]Megan[/name] - One of my faves

Boys Names
[name]Braden[/name] - sounds quite popular
[name]Burton[/name] (my mothers maiden name) - nn [name]Burt[/name]? Not sure on this one
[name]Colman[/name] - Would like it, but reminds me of English mustard! Probably doesn;t where you are though! Also like nn [name]Cole[/name]
[name]Gibson[/name] - Had an odd teacher with this surname so i can’t see past that!
[name]Landen[/name] - Yep like it
[name]Weston[/name] - This is more of a place name to me from where i live but if i didn’t associate it with that i’d like it!
[name]Mason[/name] - Fairly popular? Like it though

I love your daughter’s name [name]Camryn[/name], it is an old Scottish name.

I think that [name]Avalon[/name] would be a great match with [name]Camryn[/name]!

Or another unisex name like [name]Paige[/name], [name]Courtney[/name] or [name]Alexis[/name], would be lovely.

From your choices I would choose [name]Megan[/name] or [name]Lauren[/name].

I really don’t like [name]Alison[/name] but I love [name]Alyssa[/name]

A few more that go with [name]Camryn[/name]

[name]Caitlin[/name] (very popular, but still one of my favourites)
Boys Names

[name]Braden[/name] This is one of the names that name nerds dislike so much, so trendy, of course if you do like the aden endings then the popular [name]Aidan[/name] would be better or the less popular but similar [name]Caden[/name] are better than [name]Braden[/name].

[name]Burton[/name] Nice to have in the middle name position

[name]Colman[/name] Not bad nn of [name]Cole[/name] is nice I think I would prefer [name]Cole[/name].

[name]Gibson[/name] [name]Don[/name]'t like this one and it reminds me of [name]Mel[/name] [name]Gibson[/name].

[name]Landen[/name], [name]Landon[/name] is a nice name, it reminds me of the western tv shows of the past.

[name]Weston[/name] Okay but not as nice as [name]Landon[/name]. I wouldn’t use it.

[name]Mason[/name] A nice name but yes, it is very like [name]Jason[/name] but that wouldn’t put me off the name totally but then again it wouldn’t be my first pick either.

What about

[name]Declan[/name] [name]Paul[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Kieran[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] [name]Cole[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Charlton[/name] [name]Peter[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Donovan[/name] [name]Scott[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Spencer[/name] [name]Alec[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Liam[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Jones[/name]
[name]Charlie[/name] [name]Burton[/name] [name]Jones[/name]

My picks would be [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Colman[/name].

It seems that you prefer unisex names for girls.
I think [name]Jordan[/name] compliments [name]Camryn[/name] very well for a girl-- And not just because it’s my name: )
And instead of [name]Lauren[/name], how about the less common [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Lorelai[/name], or [name]Lorena[/name]?

And other girl’s names that I think sound lovely with [name]Camryn[/name] are:

For the boy’s names I like [name]Burton[/name], but would the nn be [name]Burt[/name]? All I think of is [name]Burt[/name] and [name]Ernie[/name] from [name]Sesame[/name] [name]Street[/name].
And I also love [name]Coleman[/name] with the nn [name]Cole[/name].
[name]Weston[/name] and [name]Mason[/name] are also very solid names.
And [name]Grayson[/name] is my absolute favorite name for a boy. What about using that for a boy’s name instead of a girl’s?

From your list I think [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Burton[/name] are perfect with [name]Camryn[/name].

Good [name]Luck[/name]

  • [name]Charlie[/name]

[name]Allison[/name]- I like it
[name]Grayson[/name]- only for a boy
Hollyn- What???
[name]Lauren[/name]- Its cute
[name]Lillian[/name]- call her [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]- My friend spells it [name]Morgann[/name] and I love it like that!
[name]Rylan[/name]- No.
[name]Megan[/name]- I like it, but is very plain.

I noticed that all your girl names ended in en, which I personally think is too close to [name]Camryn[/name]. Why not try something like. . .

Boys Names
[name]Braden[/name]- Sounds to mch like [name]Brandon[/name].
[name]Burton[/name]- [name]Do[/name] you really want him to be called [name]Burt[/name]???
[name]Colman[/name]- Why not just call him [name]Cole[/name]?
[name]Gibson[/name]- Ehh, these all sound like last names :frowning:
[name]Landen[/name]- I really don’t like it . . .
[name]Weston[/name]- Its OK.
[name]Mason[/name]- I think its the cutest.

For boys, you seemed to use all names that sound like last names. Try something like:
[name]Greyson[/name] (For a boy, not a girl!)

[name]Jones[/name] is a great last name for pairing but yes very very common.
Personally, of your list, I like the following the best:

Girls - Hollyn [name]Jones[/name] or [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Jones[/name]

Boys - [name]Mason[/name] [name]Jones[/name] (wouldn’t be a bad name for a girl either if spelled diff - [name]Macyn[/name], Masyn, etc.)

[name]Laurel[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] - my votes!

I’m curious what name you decided on? My first daughters name is [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] and if our second is a girl I feel like it can’t be too trendy or super girly.
