I am 40ish weeks now and based on previous history I still have a small window before we need a name…It is getting down to the wire though and I don’t want to file the BC/SS myself again because we couldn’t decide.
We went from almost 50 names that kinda jumped out at me/fit to about 15…
Other childrens names and our “pattern” - link to post: Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums
Please help me with sounds, fit, etc… If there is a name out there that I missed and would be perfect for us, don’t be shy–tick tock… I need this to be no more than 12 or less to choose from for first and middle to feel sane (really would be amazed if I could actually narrow down to a couple).
Names that stayed on: (some of these were a stretch for hubby-I don’t know what he wants!)
(all the one syllable names would only work if we went with a long name and we don’t love the one syllables that we found for first names-If there are any other suggestions for a one syllable first name…)
Kir
[name_u]Pax[/name_u]
[name_u]True[/name_u]
[name_u]Oak[/name_u]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Mark[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_m]Bram[/name_m]
The other link you provided doesn’t work, so I’m just going to give my opinion on the names as best I can!
[name_m]Zadok[/name_m] - This sounds to science fiction to me, personally. Although I understand the origins, not many people will. Without knowing it’s history, it just sounds like something from a scifi book.
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] - I love this, it’s strong and unique and has a wonderful biblical namesake.
[name_m]Lemuel[/name_m] - No. This is not a desirable person to be named after. I also don’t like the sound of the name itself.
[name_m]Tobiah[/name_m] - I prefer [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] or [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] simply because [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m] sounds incomplete to me.
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. Such a strong name with a lovely namesake.
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] - Like quiet a bit, though it falls under the “maybe” category.
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] - I’ve never really liked [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. It evokes negative imagery for me.
[name_m]Darius[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] deeply. This is definitely a strong contender.
[name_m]Enoch[/name_m] - I like the sound and hate the look on paper. For a person, I think it would be waring as a parent to always be calling out “[name_m]Enoch[/name_m], stop!” or “[name_m]Enoch[/name_m], come inside!” It’s a bit of a mouthful without a good way to shorten it.
Beniah - Nope, not a fan.
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] deeply.
Jeriah - No, but better than Beniah.
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] - Nice, but I feel it’s too in the norm. This is definitely the most common name you have on the list and as a name itself I’m not a huge fan.
[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] - I actually like this, but see my note for [name_m]Enoch[/name_m]. Same applies.
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] - I’ve always loved [name_m]Asher[/name_m], the name, but dislike the person in the bible. He was not a very nice fellow and did some pretty heinous stuff, but the name is fantastic. [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_m]Levi[/name_m], I’ve always loved. I love the nickname [name_u]Ash[/name_u], too.
Can’t believe I am now struggling more with the boy list…I put it off till last because I thought I liked more of them, but as I get closer I am feeling off with them. Using most of these would take us off that -iah/-ah pattern and even though I KNOW I shouldn’t be bound by that, it feels weird. The other thing is I still don’t have a lot of 2 syllable names to work with that feel right. My eldests name is [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and I was thinking it was time to bring the boys back to a shorter name (the others are [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], and [name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m]). The only one that I feel is a good fit for that is [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] (really trying to get hubby on board). He has thrown [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] in at the last minute (always!) Does [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] sound right? I have one name similar [name_f]Charis[/name_f] [name_f]Zariah[/name_f] (there is that iah) with the -is ending.
[name_m]Lemuel[/name_m] - completely overlooked and the perfect alternative to [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - stately, intelligent, great meaning
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] - has a really cool vibe
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] - a personal favorite, I love everything about it
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] - very underrated, unusual yet very familiar, I love the nickname [name_m]Bram[/name_m]
My favorites from your list are:
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m]
[name_m]Enoch[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m]
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] is really nice! I like [name_m]Enoch[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] as well.
[name_m]Enoch[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
[name_m]Enoch[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
Those would be my favorite combos too! Best of luck!
