My favorite name at the moment is [name_m]Warren[/name_m] - love the sweet vintage vibe - but can’t decide on a good nickname. I don’t think it truly needs one but DH can’t settle on a name without one! War is a bit too tough for us and wren a bit too feminine. I’m open to any even if they seem like a stretch. Thank you!
This is a tough one! I know a couple of Warrens and none of them have a nickname.
Okay so here is a super stretch of an idea: nn Bugs? Like Bugs [name_f]Bunny[/name_f]? Because rabbit dens are called Warrens?
Or maybe Enso?
I wish I could think of something more compelling. Best of luck!
Other than War or [name_u]Wren[/name_u], every other nn seems like a stretch. Here are a few I could come up with -
[name_u]Win[/name_u]
[name_u]Wally[/name_u]
[name_m]Nero[/name_m]
[name_m]Ron[/name_m]/Rawn
I don’t know why, but somehow [name_f]Ro[/name_f] came to mind. Or maybe [name_u]Ren[/name_u]…?
Wen (pronounced wehn)? Seems like an attractive and obvious nickname!
By the way, I most definitely don’t think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is too feminine, especially if spelled [name_u]Ren[/name_u], but that’s just my opinion
I only know one [name_m]Warren[/name_m] and he doesn’t have a nickname… which is just fine. It’s a great name!
But if your hubby needs one, perhaps:
[name_m]Renn[/name_m] ([name_m]Kevin[/name_m] Bacon’s character in Footloose!)
[name_u]Win[/name_u]
It’s a short name so options are kind of limited. W? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a middle name selected, I think combining sounds from first and middle names can make interesting nicknames. Ex [name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] could be [name_u]Wally[/name_u].
I love seeing that [name_m]Warren[/name_m] is being used and I personally wouldn’t use a nickname but if your husband wants to use one, I do like [name_u]Ren[/name_u]/[name_m]Renn[/name_m]. For me, spelling it with R makes it masculine as it is sometimes used as a nickname for [name_u]LawRENce[/name_u].
I agree with previous posters that [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is more masculine than [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. It’s a great nickname for [name_m]Warren[/name_m].
Thank you everyone! I really like the ren and wen suggestions. His middle name will be a family name [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] so I don’t think there’s much possibility for a first name middle name combo, but if you can think of any!
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Rory[/name_u]?
[name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]:
Arren/[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]/[name_m]Aren[/name_m]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_m]Arrow[/name_m]/Aero/Arro
[name_m]Ward[/name_m]
Perhaps a nn that is unrelated to his name would be an option.
[name_u]Wally[/name_u] is a cute nn.
Here’s some creative ideas: Grego, Wags, Orey, [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_u]Renny[/name_u],. Enders, [name_m]Nero[/name_m],
I like the suggestion a few people have made of Wen/[name_u]Win[/name_u]. I like that better than [name_u]Wren[/name_u]/[name_u]Ren[/name_u] as a nn for [name_m]Warren[/name_m].
Both are better than anything I came up with though.
I had a childhood friend called [name_m]Warren[/name_m], we used to nn him Wazza.
[name_m]Warren[/name_m]…
Dub (as in W)
Wez
[name_m]Wal[/name_m]
Could you perhaps incorporate the middle name or surname to give you some more nn options…?
I was going to say the same as the previous poster. In Australia, he’d be called Wazza. The only other nn I could think of is Warrie.
