Need help with second child!!

Hey everyone!

Last year I gave birth to our son [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Redford[/name] (still love his name so thanks everyone for your help!!)

I recently found that we are pregnant with our second! We don’t know the gender yet, but could you please help me brainstorm some ideas? I would really love another name that I love as much as his. Thanks!

Hey everyone! - [name]Hi[/name], [name]Bella[/name]!

Last year I gave birth to our son [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Redford[/name] (still love his name so thanks everyone for your help!!) - [name]Glad[/name] to hear you love [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Redford[/name]. Give your little [name]Abraham[/name] a hug from me.

Boys
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] - I would pick this to go with [name]Abraham[/name] unless the two brothers would be [name]Bram[/name] and [name]Ben[/name]. That would be too matchy.
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name] - love
[name]Hosea[/name]
[name]Isaiah[/name]
[name]Josiah[/name]

[name]Clara[/name]*
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]*

[name]Do[/name] you have a short (or long!) list yet?

Thank you for your replies!

We call [name]Abraham[/name] “[name]Abe[/name],” or more recently, “[name]Red[/name]/[name]Redford[/name]”, because as luck would have it, he actually has strawberry blonde hair! But we actually have never called him [name]Abraham[/name].

I am at a total loss when it comes to girl names. I like Place names and French names. Girly names. I am not a fan of names that were once boys names, but are now girls, like [name]Addison[/name], etc. I like them to be a little frilly, but not obnoxiously, if that makes sense.

[name]Susan[/name], please don’t take offense, but I thought that I would give feedback to some of your names suggested, so that you might be able to head me in the right direction:

Girls
[name]Ardith[/name] - not very pretty to me
[name]Clara[/name] - I probably like [name]Claire[/name] more, but its almost too boring or plain
[name]Dinah[/name] - sounds like someone is saying Dinner, just feels incomplete
[name]Eliana[/name] - not bad
[name]Leah[/name] - plain
[name]Rose[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name] - love [name]Rose[/name] as a first name, don’t like the nn [name]Rosie[/name]
[name]Selah[/name] - no
[name]Simona[/name] - no
[name]Tova[/name] - no
[name]Willa[/name] - like [name]Willa[/name], but too close to [name]Willow[/name], which is completely [name]Palin[/name] to me
[name]Zoe[/name] - no and no to [name]Chloe[/name]

Boys
[name]Asher[/name] - very popular where I live
[name]Benjamin[/name] - I love [name]Benjamin[/name], nn [name]Ben[/name]. And yes, it is the most natural choice
[name]Elijah[/name] - love [name]Elijah[/name], nn [name]Eli[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name] - no
[name]Gabriel[/name] - [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Abe[/name]? no
[name]Hosea[/name] - no
[name]Isaiah[/name] - too Biblical
[name]Josiah[/name] - no
[name]Judah[/name] nn [name]Jude[/name] - no
[name]Lazarus[/name] - too Biblical (yes I know that I picked a Biblical name for my son, but I feel like another really Biblical name would be too much)
[name]Levi[/name] - Jeans to me still. Very country
[name]Micah[/name] - no
[name]Moses[/name] - no
[name]Nathaniel[/name] - I have never really liked [name]Nathaniel[/name] for some reason
[name]Noah[/name] - no
[name]Reuben[/name] - sandwich
[name]Samuel[/name][/quote] - love [name]Samuel[/name], nn [name]Sam[/name]. But “[name]Sam[/name]” is almost going to the girls too much… :frowning:

To Olivegreen:

Wow, I love [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Redford[/name]! Very cool name  - thank you!! We love it too!

Sibling names that come to mind (favorites are starred):

[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Solomon[/name]*
[name]Simeon[/name]
[name]Elias[/name]
[name]Jeremiah[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]* - I like the nn [name]Finn[/name] A LOT, but am afraid it may be too popular.
[name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]

My overall comment would be that I don’t want a name that is too in-your-face Biblical.

For boy names, I am attracted to “All-American” sounding (which I think [name]Abe[/name] is to me), maybe some clunk to it (like he could be a grandpa), could be athletic (but not a jock), has potential nn built in… I also like surnames for boys. I also like nature names.

I love [name]Abe[/name], [name]Ben[/name], [name]Sam[/name], [name]Eli[/name], [name]Luke[/name], [name]Hank[/name], [name]Will[/name], etc.

[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]*
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name]
Shylah (not listed on nameberry but it’s a real name)
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]*
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]*

Girl names are harder. I like place names like [name]Savannah[/name], [name]Carolina[/name], [name]Georgia[/name]… can’t think of anymore off the top of my head… I like French names. Names with a little history to them. Nns built in. Pretty, but not frilly to a point of obnoxiousness. I also like nature names. [name]Flower[/name] names. Tree names…

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Bella[/name]!

I love [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Redford[/name], and how sweet that his hair matches his new “[name]Red[/name]” nickname! I’m going to try and give this a go, and don’t be afraid to tell me if you hate any of these suggestions!

For girls, you like girly names that aren’t too frilly. You want a name with substance - potentially with a nickname - that is unique but not unheard of. Is this accurate?

[name]Reuben[/name]

[name]Zaccheus[/name] “[name]Zac[/name]” *

Good luck! My favorites are (*)…

[name]Lemon[/name]

Ok, with a little searching, I found my old post of boy names that I was brainstorming with when we picked out [name]Abe[/name]'s name.

This might help. And actually, a lot of them could still work I think:

[name]Abraham[/name]** -really loving this name. My DH is a sports enthusiast and can already see little [name]Abe[/name] [name]Williams[/name] pitching a no hitter in little league.

[name]Augustus[/name]- (nn [name]Gus[/name]) - DH like [name]Gus[/name] [name]Williams[/name], I think that it could be a mn

[name]Bennett[/name]- We have always liked the nn [name]Ben[/name], but don’t like its popularity, nn potential

[name]Boone[/name] *- (mn only) We [name]LOVE[/name] as a mn

[name]Bowie[/name] (mn only) DH has still not forgotten the [name]Alamo[/name] but could be a cute mn or nn

[name]Cecil[/name] - DH knew twins named [name]Monty[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name] and wanted to add to list. I am unsure whether it would make a better fn or mn or what nn’s it could have.

[name]Cedric[/name]*- We like this name bc we would like to honor someone special named [name]Eric[/name], without using the name [name]Eric[/name] ([name]Eric[/name] will have a lot of contact with the child, and we do not want two Erics in the family)

[name]Clarence[/name]*- ([name]Clancy[/name]) family name

[name]Dashiell[/name] ([name]Dash[/name]) *- We just think that this is a cool name. We have been told that its getting popular and really would like to avoid a “trendy” name if we can. (even though i have not met a [name]Dash[/name]).

[name]Donovan[/name]- Would be a nod to my father in an indirect way

[name]Duncan[/name]- DH also knew brothers named [name]Malcolm[/name] and [name]Duncan[/name] (very [name]Shakespeare[/name], I know) but thinks that they had cool names.

[name]Edmund[/name]

[name]Emmett[/name]

[name]Everett[/name]** - Family name

[name]Finnegan[/name]** - We smile everytime we say it. It’s just a fun name. Is [name]Finn[/name] really that popular?? We really love it.

[name]Fielder[/name] - (mn only) - Like I said, DH is getting creative too and is imagining his son’s name on the loud speaker at a ballpark. I think it could be cute as a mn

[name]Fisher[/name]**- [name]Fisher[/name] [name]Williams[/name]. [name]How[/name] bad would the teasing be, because we are liking it at this point.

[name]Homer[/name]- We still like it, but may use it just as a nn, not a given name.

[name]Jacques[/name]

[name]Johannes[/name]/[name]Johan[/name]

[name]Knight[/name]* - (mn only). This came from the idea that my DH has. [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Knight[/name] [name]Williams[/name] WDYT?

[name]Leonardo[/name] ([name]Leo[/name]) ** Still love [name]Leo[/name]. We love Da [name]Vinci[/name].

[name]Moses[/name] ([name]Moe[/name]/[name]Mose[/name]) - but don’t want too biblical

[name]Murphy[/name] *- its a water name and DH has a friend with this surname he loves.

[name]Oliver[/name] **- must be paired with something unique/fun.

[name]Redford[/name] *- sounds old school. We both love the actor. [name]Red[/name] or [name]Ford[/name] might be nn

[name]Sinclair[/name]**- We want to use this name one way or another. Either for boy or girl as mn.

[name]Sullivan[/name] **- [name]Sully[/name] and Sul. We really like this one.

[name]Wolf[/name]/[name]Wolfe[/name] * -mn only.

Wrigley- DH wants it on the list, but Wrigley [name]Williams[/name]… ??? I am vetoing it, but it can “stay” on the list.

Our “safe names” that we like if you think that we should balance some of the above name selections:
[name]Matthew[/name]/[name]Matt[/name]
[name]Eric[/name]
[name]Beau[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Sam[/name]/[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Ben[/name] or any form ([name]Benjamin[/name]) etc.
[name]Harry[/name]/[name]Henry[/name]/[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Joe[/name]/[name]Jones[/name]
[name]Luke[/name] (mn only)
[name]Phillippe[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Ted[/name])
[name]Martin[/name]

That’s our updated list.

Updated combos:

Thanks [name]Lemon[/name],

Please don’t take offense to my comments on your list. :-\

For girls, you like girly names that aren’t too frilly. You want a name with substance - potentially with a nickname - that is unique but not unheard of. Is this accurate? Yes for the most part. I am not 100% sure what I really like yet.

[name]Bartholomew[/name] “[name]Bart[/name]” * - no
[name]Baruch[/name] - no
[name]Ephraim[/name] *- like the High School Musical? no
[name]Ezekiel[/name] “[name]Zeke[/name]” *- no
[name]Gideon[/name] - cute.
[name]Herschel[/name] - maybe
[name]Hiram[/name] “[name]Ira[/name]” - don’t like [name]Ira[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name] - no
[name]Joachim[/name] - no
[name]Nathaniel[/name] “[name]Nate[/name]” “[name]Nat[/name]” “[name]Niel[/name]” “[name]Nathan[/name]” * - Never liked the name [name]Nathan[/name]/[name]Nathaniel[/name]. Like the idea of it, but it never struck the correct chord for me
[name]Phinnaeus[/name] “[name]Finn[/name]” *- love nn [name]Finn[/name], prefer [name]Finnegan[/name]. Or maybe something that sounds Nordic
[name]Raphael[/name] “[name]Raffy[/name]”- Like Rhaphael, but do not like [name]Raffy[/name] at all
[name]Reuben[/name] - Sandwich to me
[name]Solomon[/name] - I do like [name]Solomon[/name], but I think there are others I like much more
[name]Tobias[/name] “[name]Toby[/name]” *- [name]Toby[/name] is a cat name to me. I’m weird that way.
[name]Zaccheus[/name] “[name]Zac[/name]” * - tired of the name [name]Zack[/name]/[name]Zac[/name]/[name]Zach[/name]

[name]Adamina[/name] “[name]Addie[/name]” “[name]Mina[/name]” * - never heard of this. Seems a little complicated. [name]Addie[/name] is a cute nn for [name]Adelaide[/name], but would be worried it might get confused with [name]Addison[/name]. I do like [name]Adelaide[/name] though.
[name]Azalia[/name] “[name]Lia[/name]” “[name]Aza[/name]” “Z” - [name]Azalea[/name]? I do like flower names. Especially some of the more obscure ones. I am not quite convinced on the nns for [name]Azalea[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name] “[name]Della[/name]” “[name]Lilah[/name]” - my favorite from your list. Has kind of a bad girl rep, but that song Hey There [name]Delilah[/name], kind of brings it back to present day, however the syndicated [name]Delilah[/name], is somewhat of an annoyance.
[name]Jemima[/name] “[name]Jem[/name]” * = Aunt. I think syrup and pancakes
[name]Keziah[/name] “[name]Kizzy[/name]”- no
[name]Leora[/name] “[name]Lea[/name]” *- no
[name]Miriam[/name] “[name]Miri[/name]” “[name]Mira[/name]” - [name]Miriam[/name] in ok. I don’t really like the nns though.
[name]Rebecca[/name] “[name]Becca[/name]” - no
[name]Shoshana[/name] “[name]Ana[/name]” - too much of a name to me. I do like longer names, but this one is too much for some reason.
[name]Susannah[/name] “[name]Annie[/name]” *- not bad. Like [name]Annie[/name] as a nn
[name]Talia[/name] “[name]Tali[/name]” "[name]Lia[/name] - seems incomplete

Hey [name]Bella[/name]! Congratulations!!!
I am so glad that [name]Abe[/name]/[name]Red[/name] is doing so well! He sounds ADORABLE!!

I was actually thinking about you the other day. I remember how much I loved your name list. I have never named a boy yet, but if I do have a future son, his name that I have picked out for him has a combo of names on your list. Anyways, I thought that I would comment on some of your boy names. Have you narrowed any of these down?

[name]Abraham[/name] - [name]Love[/name], but off the list now. [name]Abe[/name] [name]Williams[/name] is so cute!

[name]Augustus[/name]-** (nn [name]Gus[/name]) - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Augustus[/name]!!! One of my growing favorites!! [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Augustus[/name] have the same feel to me. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Gus[/name] are adorable!!! [name]LOVE[/name] it!!!
[name]Bennett[/name]- We have always liked the nn [name]Ben[/name], but don’t like its popularity, nn potential

[name]Boone[/name] *- (mn only) I recently started watching Lost, but have also liked this name for awhile. [name]Boone[/name] is a great middle name.

[name]Bowie[/name] (mn only) - I know all about [name]Texas[/name] [name]History[/name] too, but I feel that outside the state, it becomes [name]David[/name] [name]Bowie[/name], and I am not sure if thats a great association or not for you.

[name]Cecil[/name] - I do like the name [name]Cecil[/name], but am afraid that it may start sounding too feminine if [name]Cecilia[/name] takes off.

[name]Cedric[/name]*- I like the name [name]Cedric[/name] too. [name]Ced[/name] is a cute nn. Never thought of it as an [name]Eric[/name] alternative. Is [name]Ericson[/name]/[name]Erickson[/name] out of the question?

[name]Clarence[/name]- ([name]Clancy[/name]) I like [name]Clarence[/name]. more as a mn

[name]Dashiell[/name] ([name]Dash[/name]) - I like [name]Dash[/name], but I like some of your other names better.

[name]Donovan[/name]- I think this is a handsome name

[name]Duncan[/name]- I like [name]Duncan[/name], but I like some of your others better

[name]Edmund[/name] - ditto

[name]Emmett[/name] - eh. [name]Emmett[/name] is just “ok” to me

[name]Everett[/name]** - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Everett[/name]. [name]LOVE[/name] it. The possible nn [name]Rhett[/name] makes this one, one of my favorites!!

[name]Finnegan[/name]** - [name]Love[/name] it! [name]Finn[/name] is getting popular, but I have still not met a [name]Finn[/name] (other than my dog - see? I really do like it). If you love it, use it.

[name]Fielder[/name] - (mn only) - Cute. I never thought of this as a name before. My husband would probably love it, too. [name]Fielder[/name] or [name]Puck[/name] or anything hockey, football or baseball related. Definitely leave it in the mn spot.

[name]Fisher[/name]**- [name]Fisher[/name] [name]Williams[/name]. I like [name]Fisher[/name] as a name. Again, something my husband also would love.

[name]Homer[/name]- Like a lot, however, [name]Simpson[/name] may have ruined it. I see the baseball reference appeal to you though.

[name]Jacques[/name] - like

[name]Johannes[/name]/[name]Johan[/name] - like, but like others better. [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Johannes[/name]/[name]Johan[/name] don’t sound like they are related.

[name]Knight[/name]* - (mn only). Like in the mn position. [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Knight[/name] [name]Williams[/name] is nice.

[name]Leonardo[/name] ([name]Leo[/name]) ** Like [name]Leo[/name]. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] work well.

[name]Moses[/name] ([name]Moe[/name]/[name]Mose[/name]) - [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Moses[/name] is a little too much in my opinion if you aren’t wanting to be too Biblical.

[name]Murphy[/name] *- [name]Murphy[/name] is great! I like it in the mn position for you.

[name]Oliver[/name] **- must be paired with something unique/fun. I agree. I like [name]Oliver[/name], however, don’t like Oli, so unless you like Oli, may not have a nn built in that you want to use.

[name]Redford[/name] *- [name]LOVE[/name] it! [name]Glad[/name] you used it! One of my favs

[name]Sinclair[/name]**- Still like [name]Sinclair[/name]. I want to say I remember you playing with it as a girls name too??

[name]Sullivan[/name] **- [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]!!! [name]Love[/name] it!!

[name]Wolf[/name]/[name]Wolfe[/name] * -mn only. Agree. [name]Wolf[/name] is ok in the middle

Wrigley- hmmm… understand why its on the list. but mn only, ok?

Our “safe names” that we like if you think that we should balance some of the above name selections:
[name]Matthew[/name]/[name]Matt[/name] - like
[name]Eric[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] - have several family members with this name.
[name]Beau[/name] - Adoarable
[name]Elijah[/name] - love
[name]Sam[/name]/[name]Samuel[/name] - nice
[name]Ben[/name] or any form ([name]Benjamin[/name]) etc. - yes
[name]Harry[/name]/[name]Henry[/name]/[name]Harrison[/name] - yes
[name]Joe[/name]/[name]Jones[/name] - yes
[name]Luke[/name] (mn only) - ok
[name]Phillippe[/name] - nice!
[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Ted[/name]) - nice!
[name]Martin[/name] - nice

That’s our updated list.

Have you thought about

[name]Truman[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]

[name]Hi[/name], again!

[name]Don[/name]'t worry - I am certainly not offended by your comments on my suggestions. It is your baby, not mine, and we all want you to be happy!

I’m glad you like [name]Gideon[/name]! Regarding [name]Ephraim[/name], I don’t at all understand your High School Musical comment - is there a character called [name]Ephraim[/name]? I don’t quite recall that, and I’ve watched that film too many times for my own liking while babysitting! Also, I agree with you that perhaps [name]Delilah[/name] has had a revival of sorts with the recent song, “Hey There [name]Delilah[/name],” but I think it maintains that same Biblical integrity that [name]Abraham[/name] has. Okay, with that being said, let me move on to your old list…

You have a lot of great names on the list. I know you mentioned that you like [name]Finnegan[/name], which is a cool name, but, yes, [name]Finn[/name] as a nickname is popular (in fact, [name]Fin[/name] - short for [name]Findlay[/name] - is my dog’s name!), which appears to be something you want to avoid. I think my ‘issue,’ if you can even call it that, with your list is that the names largely don’t seem to carry the same feel as [name]Abraham[/name] for me. You have some interesting vintage choices ([name]Clarence[/name], [name]Cecil[/name], [name]Cedric[/name]) and some more modern-sounding names ([name]Bennett[/name] or [name]Finnegan[/name], perhaps), but [name]Abraham[/name] is such a classic, Biblical - perhaps even Puritan or Colonial ([name]Abraham[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name] comes to mind!) - name that I’m having a hard time “matching” it off of your list alone. I know you don’t want to be too Biblical, which is great, but I’m personally a strong supporter of names that “go” together. What are your thoughts on that?

You have some wonderful names on here that I love as middle names to compliment the spunky [name]Redford[/name], most notably [name]Boone[/name], [name]Donovan[/name], and [name]Fielder[/name]. I like both [name]Moses[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] for first names, but [name]Moses[/name] might be a bit much with [name]Abraham[/name], Bible-wise. [name]Oliver[/name] has the same vintage, Colonial styling of [name]Abraham[/name], though…

Creating a combination based on this list and your “safe” list, I think [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Fielder[/name] [name]Williams[/name] would be great with [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Redford[/name] [name]Williams[/name], myself. [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Boone[/name] is handsome, too!

So, just for your perusal, here are some more to consider!

[name]Amos[/name] ([name]Donovan[/name] [name]Williams[/name])
[name]Elias[/name] ([name]Fielder[/name] [name]Williams[/name])
[name]Homer[/name] ([name]Donovan[/name] [name]Williams[/name])
[name]Thaddeus[/name] ([name]Boone[/name] [name]Williams[/name])

For a girl, [name]Abigail[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] are sweet! I’d also suggest [name]Emeline[/name] (or [name]Emmeline[/name]), [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], or [name]Tabitha[/name].

I’d urge you to check out the Colonial Names lists on NB - they are great resources of names that match the sound and feel of [name]Abraham[/name]! Take care, and good luck!

[name]Tabitha[/name] would be so cute.

[name]Hi[/name] Dotsmom!!!
[name]How[/name] are you doing? [name]How[/name] are little [name]Henry[/name], Miss [name]Dottie[/name], and the twins doing??

That’s so sweet of you to think of me. I’m blushing. For what its worth, I really liked your girl names that you were using, too. I probably should dig your list out. Or could you tell me some of the names that were on there?

For some reason, the boys are a little easier:
I think I can narrow them down a little more.

First name possibilities:

[name]Augustus[/name] - [name]Do[/name] you think this is too similar to [name]Abraham[/name]? [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Gus[/name]. [name]Gus[/name] and [name]Abe[/name]… I think this could be the one. let’s see.

[name]Everett[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Everett[/name]. [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Everett[/name]. [name]Abe[/name] and ___ hmm… [name]Red[/name] and [name]Rhett[/name]? [name]Redford[/name] and [name]Everett[/name]??? help me out here.

[name]Sullivan[/name] - [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name]. Nice flow. [name]Abe[/name] and Sul. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Sully[/name]… Again. Help me out here.

[name]Theodore[/name] - [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Ted[/name]. hmmm. Not so sure. [name]Ted[/name] [name]Williams[/name]. OK [name]Theodore[/name] is out.

[name]Oliver[/name] - I like [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Williams[/name], but [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. I hate that I dont have any nns for [name]Oliver[/name].

[name]Donovan[/name] - Hmmm… Maybe not

[name]Benjamin[/name] - I like [name]Benjamin[/name], but again, much more common than [name]Abraham[/name]. It is still in the running.

[name]Harrison[/name] - [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Harrison[/name]. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. [name]Redford[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. [name]Red[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. ok. So that wouldnt work too well. But I do like [name]Harrison[/name].

[name]Finnegan[/name] - [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] are cute to me. [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Finnegan[/name] sound good together too.

Middle names in the running:
[name]Sinclair[/name] - I love this still
[name]Wolf[/name] - dresses up plain names and makes them more interesting
[name]Murphy[/name] - DH loves this idea as a mn
[name]Boone[/name] - love it
[name]Fisher[/name] - love it
[name]Truman[/name] - great suggestion
[name]Sawyer[/name] - love it, I think it was in the running at some time, but was eliminated. I can’t remember why, so I am bringing it back.

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Lemon[/name]!

Thanks for not taking offense.

[name]Ephraim[/name] - isn’t one of the actors named [name]Zach[/name] [name]Ephraim[/name]?? Am I thinking of something else?

As far as the names “going” together. I see [name]Abraham[/name] as yes, Biblical, but I don’t see it as just Biblical. I see it as a clunky older man’s name. I see it as a name that has much history attached to it. I don’t see it as a Puritanical name so much. Honestly, I see it on par with [name]Benjamin[/name], except a much more uncommon choice.

I read through the Colonial names for boys:
The only ones on that list I like are:
[name]Amos[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name], nn [name]Eli[/name]
[name]Homer[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name], nn [name]Finn[/name]

The latter 3 could be in the running.

We really use the nn [name]Abe[/name]/[name]Red[/name]/[name]Redford[/name]. Which I see as on the same level as [name]Ben[/name], [name]Sam[/name], [name]Eli[/name], [name]Mac[/name], [name]Jake[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Luke[/name], [name]Gus[/name]…

As for the girl names:
I like [name]Emmeline[/name]!
I almost like [name]Louisa[/name] (but can’t see it on a baby)
[name]Felicity[/name] is sweet

What are some other “[name]Emmeline[/name]” names?

New ideas:

Boys
[name]Carsten[/name] - no
[name]Edwin[/name] - no
[name]Elliott[/name] - maybe. I have liked [name]Elliott[/name] since I was very young because of ET
[name]Fargo[/name]- hmmm… I doubt the DH would go for that
[name]Hugo[/name] - Like [name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name] - too whispery.
[name]Lionel[/name] - maybe
[name]Miles[/name] - like. Maybe as a mn
[name]Otis[/name] - my grandma would kill me! family drama with that name
[name]Quentin[/name] - Not a fan of Q names

Girls
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name] - not for me
[name]Damara[/name] - no
[name]Marin[/name] - no
[name]Nora[/name] - like
[name]Paloma[/name] - no
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Polly[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Penny[/name], [name]Nell[/name] - like the nns!!!
[name]Phoebe[/name] - like the nns of [name]Penelope[/name] more
[name]Stella[/name] - I like the star connection
[name]Tabitha[/name] - cute.[/quote]

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Bella[/name]!

Oh! Now I see the issue! Are you by chance thinking of [name]Zac[/name] [name]Efron[/name]? Now I see where [name]Ephraim[/name] came into play there. Ha!

I totally agree with you that [name]Abraham[/name] is like a vintage, “clunky” name with Colonial appeal and strong history - [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name] - and I see it along the lines of a more unusual [name]Benjamin[/name], too. I think that [name]Amos[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Homer[/name], and [name]Phineas[/name] would be amazing with [name]Abraham[/name]! I particularly like “[name]Red[/name]” and “[name]Finn[/name]” together as brothers. So handsome, yet cute…

Oh! So glad you like [name]Emmeline[/name]! I think it is soft and gentle and feminine yet still has presence and strength. It is on my list for a future daughter ([name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Maria[/name]), and the other names on my list are [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eliza[/name]. I see [name]Emmeline[/name] in the same light as names like [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], and [name]Violet[/name], personally - delicate yet strong. The first four probably work better with [name]Abraham[/name], I think. Something like [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Celia[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], or [name]Mirabel[/name] would work well, too. If you do really like [name]Emmeline[/name], I know your old list mentioned [name]Sinclair[/name], and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Sinclair[/name] [name]Williams[/name] is a really cool, sophisticated name!

Anyway, take care, and good luck with the search!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Bella[/name], I love French names too! So it seems you liked [name]Abraham[/name] more for its old-school quality than its Biblical quality? From your list, I [name]LOVE[/name]:

[name]Augustus[/name] (personal favorite)
[name]Cedric[/name] (so classy)
[name]Dashiell[/name] (yes, heading up, but I doubt it will ever be anywhere near the top 20)
[name]Everett[/name] (I love this w/ [name]Abraham[/name]! It’s totally unexpected but it works)
[name]Finnegan[/name] ([name]Finn[/name] could get very, very popular. But such a great name!)
[name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name] is a cute nn. I love the idea of brothers [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Sully[/name]. Or [name]Red[/name] and [name]Sully[/name]. Gosh, I really love that!)

For girls, these are some of my favorite French names:
[name]Apolline[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Maelle[/name]

[name]Georgette[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Francine[/name] (also works as an old-school name)
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Sabine[/name]

[name]Favorite[/name] old-school names:
[name]Lydia[/name] (I second [name]Lemon[/name]'s recommendation! Goes so well with [name]Abe[/name])
[name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Eudora[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Adelia[/name]

[name]Henry[/name] is doing well. We have had some trip ups in the adoption process, don’t want to get into the story, but he is 5 now and growing like a weed! [name]Dottie[/name] is now 3 and entertains us in oh so many ways. I am amazed at how intelligent and funny she is! Unfortunately, we lost [name]Matilda[/name] in [name]January[/name]. It was and still is heartbreaking, but we are trying our best to stay positive. [name]Eloise[/name] will turn FIVE months old tomorrow!!! She is just the sweetest, prettiest, happiest baby and yes, growing so fast. Thanks for asking.

Of your boys, I like [name]Augustus[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Harrison[/name] the best.

Middles names I like [name]Sinclair[/name], [name]Boone[/name], [name]Fisher[/name], [name]Truman[/name].

I do like:
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]

Girls (so much harder for me):
[name]Emmeline[/name] - yes, [name]Emme[/name] and [name]Abe[/name]. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Emma[/name]. hmmm… maybe not
[name]Katherine[/name] - I am definitely a [name]Katherine[/name] with a K kind of girl :-), love the nn [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Katie[/name]; [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Red[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]. Yes, this could work
[name]Margaret[/name] - I like, maybe [name]Greta[/name]; [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Greta[/name]. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name]. [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Meg[/name]. hmmm…
[name]Charlotte[/name] - yes [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Lotte[/name], [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] - only if its the french way! [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Gene[/name]; [name]Abe[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]; [name]Red[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] - like
[name]Matilda[/name] - love

Exactly!! I like French names for girls so much!
Yes, thats exactly how I see [name]Abraham[/name]. I love it for its clunkiness, yet so cute and simple nn [name]Abe[/name].

My short list of names are:
[name]Augustus[/name] nn [name]Gus[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name] nn [name]Finn[/name]

What can we do with those?

Girls:
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Maelle[/name] - more info needed on this… how is it pronounced?
[name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Francine[/name]
([name]Lydia[/name] - I see it as kind of a [name]Linda[/name] name. is it antique?)
[name]Rosalie[/name] (but like other [name]Rose[/name] variations better)
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Amaryllis[/name] - liking this one a lot!

[name]Bella[/name],

I think you have some good options for a boy in [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], and [name]Phineas[/name]! Really handsome names, and they sound great with [name]Abraham[/name]. Did you have ideas on middle names? I love [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Fielder[/name], [name]Phineas[/name] [name]Boone[/name], and [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Bowie[/name]!

As for girls, I think my favorites with [name]Abraham[/name] are [name]Emmeline[/name] ([name]Emme[/name] = [name]Emmy[/name]), [name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Greta[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]), [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Lottie[/name]), and [name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Mattie[/name], [name]Tillie[/name]). So cute! Did you have thoughts on middle names for a girl?

[name]Lemon[/name]

PS Dotsmom, I am so sorry for your loss of Miss [name]Matilda[/name]! I can’t imagine the pain you and your family are still feeling, and my heart goes out to you. I am so glad to hear that [name]Henry[/name], [name]Dottie[/name], and [name]Eloise[/name] are doing well, though! Take care!
