Loving this!! Would like to hear where the story goes, or know where to read it. A hybrid between a dragon and a lion – unique, and they have human forms? Or no? Anthropomorphic mythology is a favorite subject for me.
So, I’m getting a lot of imagery from this. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] 1 immediately hit me as needing a name inspired by Tiamat, “the shining one.” I see her as dragon, she has long blond hair and pale blue eyes which strike me as shiny/sparkly. She’s not a vicious dragon hoarder, but a wise observer. Tiamat was also connected with the saltwater/ocean, and this connection is repeated in the blonde hair (sand) and blue eyes (water). I’d like to suggest Tethys (TETH-iss) or [name_f]Thalassa[/name_f] as first names. They are both ancient Greek names associated with Tiamat and the sea. Of the two, I think I prefer Tethys as it sounds (to me) stronger, a bit more exotic, and also more modern (if that’s important.) Assuming Mum & Dad are close, I imagine that choosing a name for the firstborn would be important for both and they would want to incorporate elements of themselves. Building on the Greek mythology element of Tethys, I like [name_f]Nemea[/name_f] (Nih-[name_f]MAY[/name_f]-ah) as a middle name. The Nemean [name_m]Lion[/name_m] ([name_m]Lion[/name_m] of [name_f]Nemea[/name_f]) was killed by [name_m]Hercules[/name_m] during his 12 labors. [name_m]Prior[/name_m] to [name_m]Hercules[/name_m], the lion had been unable to be killed because its golden fur was impervious to mortal weapons. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] 1: Tethys [name_f]Nemea[/name_f] [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], a dragon.
[name_f]Sister[/name_f] 2, I’m getting a lot from you saying you’d like her to be a seer. You also mentioned needing help with animals for 2 &3, did you mean deciding what animal they are, or inventing hybrids of dragon/lion? Snakes are typically regarded as seers/teachers/fortune tellers, so she could be a snake, but if you are needing something more hybrid-y I would suggest a Wyvern… a 2 legged, winged dragon, without the ability to breathe fire, could be seen as a sort of hybrid between dragon/lion, especially if she was tawny colored (or the same color as father’s lion skin). I like the name [name_f]Verity[/name_f] for a first name, as it means truth, and as a seer she is predicting the future with some degree of truth. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] you mentioned wanting to use as her middle, and I love the way it sounds with [name_f]Verity[/name_f]. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] 2: [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], a Wyvern.
[name_f]Sister[/name_f] 3, I see as a [name_m]Gryphon[/name_m]/[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] for some reason. Although, it could be a [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] with the eagle parts replaced with dragon to be viewed as a direct hybrid (I think I actually like this better than a traditional [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] in this case). So maybe it’s corny or predictable, but I really like the idea of using Grypha as a name for her. Like, she was born in animal form and her parents named her Grypha because of how she melded their characteristics? Or the name [name_f]Pella[/name_f], Pisa, [name_f]Ziza[/name_f], Garuda, [name_f]Aquila[/name_f], [name_f]Genoa[/name_f], [name_f]Rumi[/name_f], [name_f]Alta[/name_f], Altaluna, Menodora. Other animal options are a Sphinx (the Greek Sphinx is depicted with wings) with the name Thebe (thee-bee – like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]), [name_f]Laia[/name_f] (LYE-ah), or [name_f]Chrysa[/name_f] (Kriss-ah); a Chimera with the name Bellera (beh-LAIR-ah), [name_f]Mira[/name_f] (MEE-ra), [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], or Persea; a Manticore with the name [name_f]Indica[/name_f], [name_f]Tyana[/name_f], [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f], [name_f]Damia[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], or [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. So then I started thinking about middle names, and you said you liked [name_u]Everett[/name_u], but I just don’t feel it – but, I wanted to use it as a starting point. I found [name_f]Evella[/name_f], [name_f]Evonne[/name_f], [name_f]Evon[/name_f], [name_f]Evoni[/name_f]… And then, I found [name_u]Evyn[/name_u] (pronounced just like [name_u]Evan[/name_u]). Gotta say, I’m loving it, and not as a middle name – as the first name! It’s short and sweet, just like the little girl. It unites all three sisters with the letter y, and unites 2 & 3 with a v (since you said they could be twins). SO out of everything, here’s my pick. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] 3: [name_u]Evyn[/name_u] Altaluna [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], a lion/dragon hybrid akin to a [name_m]Griffin[/name_m].
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you like my suggestions, or they are helpful!
P.S. – Thanks for your kind words about my signature in another thread. The names in yours are quite fun, as well!
