Stick with [name]Finley[/name]. It will be easiest for her in life. [name]Finley[/name] looks classy, the others look too trendy and won’t age as well.

I think [name]Finley[/name] might look a tad masculine and when her teacher is first taking attendance they might imagine a little boy. I think [name]Finlee[/name] looks like someone took [name]Fin[/name] and stuck [name]Lee[/name] on the end, so I think maybe [name]Finleigh[/name].

I can’t get into the notion that changing the spelling of a name “makes it look more feminine”. [name]Don[/name]'t know who made that rule but I find it pretty silly. Isn’t the reason you like [name]Finley[/name] because it’s boyish? Why alter a name that’s fine as it is. Changing the spelling takes all of the Irish charm out of it. [name]Just[/name] spell it [name]Finley[/name] and your daughter won’t have to worry about having to spell it for people the rest of her life.

I think sticking with [name]Finley[/name] best. That’s how everyone will think it’s spelled, so you will save your daughter from misspellings and confusion. But if you really, really want another spelling, I would go with [name]Finleigh[/name]. It’s not to far from [name]Finley[/name] but it’s a little more feminine like you want.

I prefer [name]Finley[/name] too.

[name]Finley[/name] please!

If you want a feminine name, give her a feminine name. Changing the spelling of a masculine name does not make it feminine.

Completely agree! Although I’ll add I hate seeing this name on girl’s - I unfortunately know of one and she’s had a complicated school life at the age of 6 years and she doesn’t like her name because “everyone thinks she’s a boy.”

Honestly, I agree with the above - [name]Finley[/name] is the way to go.

Also, any of the “y” options (Fynleigh) run the risk of the name being pronounced FINE-lee instead of [name]FIN[/name]-lee.

I appreciate all the constructive responses. I am leaning toward finleigh. I have spelled my name for people my whole life and always liked that it was spelled a little different. I like Fynlee, but I see the point that it may be mispronounced. 14 more weeks to mull it over

I agree with the others, if you want a feminine name then pick a feminine name. Changing the spelling doesn’t change that fact that she has a man’s name.

I have more tolerance when parents spell the name properly instead of stuff like Emmersyn or Elliette
