Need help with the name Shanelle

I asking my nameberry friends to help a sister helping a sister out.
My sister loves the name shannel for her upcoming daughter. She likes that it sounds similar to her own name [name]Shannah[/name]. But she has been getting a lot of flack about it. She is wanting to incorporate the first 4 letter of her name =[name]SHAN[/name].
I saw another name that I kinda like today and the name is shanessa. [name]Shannah[/name] (my sister) really does like [name]Shanelle[/name] and the definition of [name]Shanelle[/name] on nameberry is designer name meets wal mart…

Is their anyway to incorporate the names together? W/o going “white trash”?

She has a son named [name]Daniel[/name] after her S.O.
So for their girl she is hoping for a similar feel

Names on the board
*[name]Shannel[/name]
*Shanessa
*[name]Hannah[/name] (although we both think is way to close to [name]Shannah[/name])

I think [name]Shanelle[/name] does have that “white trash” feel about it, though I hate to use the term. However, if she loves it, her family and friends will quickly associate it with the baby and will lose all other associations with the name. Others she may like that don’t have the negative vibes:

[name]Shanae[/name]
[name]Shane[/name]
[name]Shanandoah[/name]
[name]Shana[/name]
[name]Shaina[/name]
[name]Shandi[/name]
[name]Brishan[/name] (technically a boy’s name, but who in the world would know that)

Another suggestion is to give her baby the middle name [name]Shan[/name] or [name]Shannah[/name]. Good luck!

I kind of agree and I can see how she might be getting some flack.

Here are some SH names that do not mimic a luxury item - [name]Chanel[/name], the designer.

[name]Shayna[/name] - means beautiful

Shaeleen - I knew an artist with this name and she mostly went by [name]Shae[/name], but she loved it.

[name]Sheena[/name] - great song written about her!

[name]Sharlene[/name] - ready for a comeback in my opinion.

[name]Charlotte[/name] - similar sound.

Best of luck.

[name]Shoshana[/name] - a form of [name]Susannah[/name] (which could also work). I think this would be gorgeous!

[name]Shania[/name]

Would your sister consider other “ann/anna” names? They would still hold a similarity to her own name, but she would have far more choice.

[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]/belle/bella
[name]Annabeth[/name]
[name]Anneliese[/name]
[name]Savannah[/name]

I know a girl named [name]Shanda[/name]. She seems to like her name.

[name]Shanelle[/name] is one of those names I make fun of when looking through old yearbooks.

[name]Chandra[/name]/[name]Shandra[/name] (pronounced shan-druh or sean-druh)
[name]Shayla[/name]
[name]Shay[/name]
[name]Chanel[/name] (This is nms, but it works)
[name]Shauna[/name]/[name]Seana[/name]
Shenandoah (a guilty pleasure of mine that I’m too cowardly to use but would adore on someone else’s kid)
[name]Shannon[/name] (Always loved this name)
[name]Soshana[/name]
[name]Sonia[/name]/[name]Sonja[/name]
[name]Sanya[/name]/Sanja
Lisana/Lisanna
[name]Sharla[/name]/[name]Charla[/name]
[name]Shana[/name] (sean-uh or shann-uh)

I wouldn’t have said this if you hadn’t used this exact phrase, but unfortunately my first thought when I saw the name [name]Shanelle[/name] was “white trash.” I’m not really a fan of Shanessa either, and I agree with you that [name]Hannah[/name] and [name]Shannah[/name] are too close to each other.

Nameberry has [name]Shandy[/name] listed in their Database, which I think is sort of cute and would combine [name]Shannah[/name]'s [name]Shan[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name]'s D. Unfortunately, [name]Shandy[/name] could sound like [name]Sandy[/name] with a speech impediment, and [name]Sandy[/name] probably isn’t the most desirable name right now. I like [name]Shani[/name] and [name]Shanti[/name] as well.

Maybe [name]Dasha[/name]?

Never mind the “trashy” association…I think if you give a kid a name that sounds the same luxury goods designer, it sends a bad message to the child about what is important in life. a) You’re giving [name]Chanel[/name] free advertising b) You’re basically saying to your child that brand name items are so important that I named you after one.

I would simply pick [name]Shannon[/name]. I know nameberry recently blogged about it being a “mom name” now, but it’s classic. It’s pretty, it stands the test of time, it goes with many mns, and if you think about it, it really suits almost every kind of woman.

[name]Shandra[/name]
[name]Shantal[/name] (which I personally don’t care for, but at least it’s a real name)
[name]Shayna[/name]

[name]Shanelle[/name] reminds me of [name]Chanel[/name] the designer brand, and it just sounds so chavvy to me (I guess white trash is the US equivalent term to a chav, I’m not 100% what defines ‘white trash’ though).

[name]Shannon[/name] would be my pick, pretty and classic.

Other names to honour [name]Shannah[/name]:

[name]Shana[/name]/[name]Shayna[/name]
[name]Shani[/name]/[name]Shayni[/name]
[name]Sharon[/name]
[name]Sharlene[/name]/[name]Charlene[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]

Roshani - (ro-shar-nee - I knew a little girl named this once)

[name]Ashanti[/name]
[name]Shana[/name]
[name]Shania[/name]
Shaunessey
[name]Shannon[/name]
Shenandoah
seconding [name]Shoshana[/name]

if they don’t have to be in order, just using the letters s-h-a-n:

Aashna
[name]Anoushka[/name]
Anousha
[name]Ashlan[/name]
[name]Natasha[/name]
Sharine / Sherine (Persian name meaning ‘sweet’)
[name]Sheena[/name]
Shekinah (meaning, glory of God)
[name]Sheridan[/name]
Ansha (Sanskrit for ‘portion’)
[name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name]
Annasophia
[name]Sophronia[/name]
[name]Ansleigh[/name]

I know someone with the name [name]Shanelle[/name], and she likes her names well enough. It’s not my personal favorite, but if [name]Shannah[/name] is set on the name…

[name]Shanelle[/name] would be a name I would consider trashy, and I hate saying that, but it’s the truth.

[name]Shannon[/name]'s the best choice [name]IMO[/name].
