Need help!

Hello everyone!

What do you think about name [name_m]Damian[/name_m]? What associations first comes to your mind?
Thanks

Honestly, it isn’t my style. I don’t know where the connotation comes from, but some people see the name as “evil” or somehow associated with the devil. While I don’t personally see the name that way, the fact that other people do might be a deterrent for me. However, it is a real & longstanding name, & I value that. If you love it or it’s important to you, go for it!!

[name_m]Damian[/name_m] is not my style either. I knew a girl named [name_m]Damian[/name_m], so I kind of associate it as a girl’s name, even though I know it’s not. Personally, it’s not what I would choose, but go ahead because it’s your baby, not mine!

I cant get over the Omen connection unfortunately. Its a nice enough name but Im a baby when it comes to scary movies so I couldnt use it.

Thanks for your replies.

And my husband and me like this name. But our friends do not advise this name because of strong association with movie “The Omen” and meaning ‘evil’ )))
On second place name [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]. But this name I associate with [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Monk. I like this movie but I don’t want son like [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Monk ))). I prefer ‘evil’ instead of Monk )))

In my case not so many names to chose, because we trying to find compromise between american and Russian names. We want have american name with some russian variations to call him at home, such as [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_m]Vanya[/name_m] (my sons name) or [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and [name_m]Kolya[/name_m] and etc.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the boy can live good with name [name_m]Damian[/name_m] “evil”?

My daughter recently ran into an acquaintance from high school. She named her new baby [name_m]Damien[/name_m] and all I could think of was the Omen and how could she do that to a baby. And I’m a [name_u]Berry[/name_u]! Maybe its generational, since I was an adult when the movie came out but just no.

Of course you son can be “good”! However, if he’s mischievous people may (mistakenly) attribute his personality to his name. You like the name & it seems to work for your family, so no need to discard it because of other people.

FYI - I had no idea who [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Monk was; I had to Google it. As such, I wouldn’t worry too much about that association. Good luck!

I like [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] a lot! I think of other things before Monk, which doesn’t really come to mind.

There’s also St [name_m]Damian[/name_m] who’s celebrated with his twin St [name_m]Cosmas[/name_m].

I love the name [name_m]Damian[/name_m]; suave, cool, and handsome. Really the ‘evil’ associations aren’t that much of a problem; [name_m]Damon[/name_m], I think, would have more trouble in that respect. As for [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] all I can think of is Monk (and ergo, OCD and nerdiness extreme). Same with [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] : )
