[name_m]Long[/name_m] story short my husband and I are really struggling with names. There is a lot of family input as well. My mother in law is pretty much hell bent on the baby having a name that starts with M after my husbands uncle [name_u]Michael[/name_u] who died in july. We can’t find an M name that we like at all. I said we should use [name_u]Michael[/name_u] as a middle name which she seemed not so thrilled about. I really love my mother in law, but I feel like it’s our baby and we should have the final say. The baby is due end of [name_f]February[/name_f] and it’s time to give him a name

In my opinion using [name_u]Michael[/name_u] as a middle is a better way to honour him than only using the first letter of his name in the first name. I like [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] Kaufmann best from your list. I also love [name_m]Miles[/name_m].
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] are both wonderful names.
Other M- names I like: [name_u]Max[/name_u]/[name_m]Maxim[/name_m]/[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Madoc[/name_m]…
HOWEVER, please don’t feel pressured into using an M- name or [name_u]Michael[/name_u] in the middle just because your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] wants you to. You’re absolutely right: this is your baby and the name is entirely your choice. By all means choose a name which honours your husband’s uncle if you want to (and that doesn’t just mean M- or [name_u]Michael[/name_u] - you could go for something with an appropriate meaning, or something that reminds you of him in some other way) but you don’t have to. Not having [name_u]Michael[/name_u] in your son’s name doesn’t mean you don’t love or want to remember this uncle. There are tons of other ways to honour and remember people.
