Need ideas for our second daughter's name please!

Hello!
I’ve just found this site in a google search, we’re expecting our second child, another little girl. Our first child is called [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] so we’d like something that goes with that. I really liked [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and up until recently that was the main contender but then we realised that we would shorten it to [name_f]Bea[/name_f] which we also like but with the “be” at the end of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]'s name we thought it’d sound odd together? So we’re stuck again! We live in [name_m]Wales[/name_m] but are both English so we’d like something “properly English” any ideas?
Thank you!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], welcome to Nameberry!

As an American, I’m afraid I don’t really know what is and isn’t ‘properly English’. But I’ll take a shot at suggesting some names:

I’ve always thought that [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] are perfect together. That said, how about [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and…

[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]

Are any of these heading in the right direction?

I second the vote on [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] <3

Maybe Julia?

Thanks for the replies  I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Melody[/name_f] are my favourites out of those but I’d worry [name_f]Melody[/name_f] might get shortened to [name_u]Mel[/name_u]…we also quite like [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] at the minute thanks for helping everyone

I grew up with a [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] who went by the nickname [name_f]Bess[/name_f], so if [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is still your favorite you could go that route!?

I really like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]! I see your point about the nicknames, but nicknames can deviate pretty far from the standard, if the parent/child desires that. You could call her [name_f]Bess[/name_f], as suggested above- or [name_f]Betty[/name_f], Bex, [name_f]Trish[/name_f], [name_m]Bear[/name_m], whatever seems to fit her best. More ideas- Nicknames for Beatrice…? I think if she had an established nickname, people wouldn’t necessarily call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f].

Other ideas…

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Yolanda[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eileen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariam[/name_f]

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] would be wonderful.

rollo

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] sound so sweet together.
