This is my first post but I have been using nameberry ALOT the last 8 months to try and find some names for our baby, which is due in a few weeks. My DH and I tend to like the same names, which is a relief, but we don’t tend to like many names, which makes naming our baby hard!
We don’t know the sex (DH is convinced it’s a boy), so we need a good girls and boys name.
The names we really like are:
Girls
[name]Honor[/name]
[name]Ever[/name]
Boys
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]August[/name]
I also don’t mind the names:
Girls
Epic
[name]Anais[/name] (not sure about it)
[name]True[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] (not sure again)
Boys
[name]Archer[/name]
(really stuck for any others we like)
So, please help!:
What do you like?
We have no idea for middle names, suggestions would be welcomed (they do not have to be from the names above and can be slightly more common, like [name]Grace[/name] etc)
Is [name]Sage[/name] ok for a boy or would he get teased? We love it for a boy but have read that it is more popular for a girl and I don’t usually like unisex names.
[name]Honor[/name] This is a great name.
[name]Ever[/name] [name]Do[/name] you mean [name]Eve[/name]? If so it is a beautiful choice.
[name]Sage[/name] and [name]August[/name] go really well together
Epic Not for me.
[name]Anais[/name] This is a beautiful name that English speaking people have trouble pronouncing so I would use it in the mn spot for that reason.
[name]True[/name] I think this is more for the boys, but maybe that is just me
[name]Elodie[/name] A beautiful vintage name
I think [name]Sage[/name] is the choice of someone who likes a nature theme and it may be a theme that you do not want to continue with future siblings.
Girls:
[name]Honor[/name]- I love this name. It is a wonderfully modern virtue name that I don’t think you can go wrong with.
[name]Ever[/name] - This name still sounds more like a word to me than a name for some reason. I think this would work better as a middle name (though not for [name]Honor[/name], [name]Honor[/name] [name]Ever[/name] is too word heavy).
Not a big fan of Epic or [name]True[/name]. [name]Anais[/name] will probably encounter lots of pronunciation issues, unfortunately. [name]Elodie[/name] is very sweet. But if you’re not sure about it then it’s probably not right.
Boys:
[name]Sage[/name] - Unfortunately this name is leaning toward girls. It’s quickly rising for girls (it’s at 396 this year), and it’s only at 791 for boys. I think it would make a great middle though.
[name]August[/name] - I love this name! Great choice.
[name]Archer[/name] - This is a really nice name that would also go well with [name]Sage[/name]. Actually, there’s a blog called Girl’s Gone Child, and the woman who writes it has a son named [name]Archer[/name] [name]Sage[/name].
The names we really like are:
Girls
[name]Honor[/name]- Really nice. There is also [name]Annora[/name].
[name]Ever[/name]- Eh, I dont love it. It sounds kinda akward. Maybe [name]Everly[/name]?
Boys
[name]Sage[/name]- I’ve only known girls name [name]Sage[/name] but I guess it could be a boys name too.
[name]August[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] so handsome.
I also don’t mind the names:
Girls
Epic- [name]Little[/name] “wacky” in my honest opinion.
[name]Anais[/name] (not sure about it)- Maybe [name]Annika[/name]?
[name]True[/name]- Makes a great mn imo.
[name]Elodie[/name] (not sure again)- [name]LOVE[/name], so pretty and sweet.
I like [name]Honor[/name] and [name]August[/name]! There’s also [name]Onora[/name] (pr. [name]Ah[/name]-nora) for girls. I’ve only ever met girls names [name]Sage[/name], but [name]Archer[/name] is great!
If I was gutsy enough, I’d use [name]Hero[/name] for my daughter. I think it’s gorgeous and fits with your other top girls names ([name]Honor[/name], Epic, et c.).
Also, there is a European band named Epica… which I don’t particularly like as a name but I like it more than just Epic. You may also like [name]Fable[/name].
Your boys names are perfect; I love [name]August[/name], [name]Sage[/name], and [name]Archer[/name] (though I prefer [name]Arthur[/name]). :o)
[name]August[/name] & [name]Sage[/name] are both great. [name]Don[/name]'t be afraid to name your boy [name]Sage[/name], I think it sounds more boyish than girlish…but I do like unisex names. You could give him a “manly” middle name just in case.
