The clock is counting down before the state names our daughter! (Insert embarrassed parent faces…) We finally decided on [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but still are missing a middle name. Pls help!
Any guidelines as to the length of middle name you’re looking for, or whether you want it to match your other daughter’s stylistically, or people you might like to honour with a middle name, or what the surname is? (Not trying to pressure you into sharing a surname if you’re not comfortable, but even knowing the number of syllables and prominent sounds can help.)
Congratulations! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a beautiful name. I second [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
[name_m]Hi[/name_m], our last name is one syllable. We would love to have it match [name_u]Eden[/name_u]'s name stylistically. [name_f]Honor[/name_f] names: my mother [name_f]Marlena[/name_f] and my mother in law [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]. Some name with a nice meaning would be lovely as well. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] means “delight” in Hebrew and that’s one of the reasons we picked it. Since [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is spare on meaning it would be nice to get that in the middle name dept.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u] (stylistically similar to [name_u]Eden[/name_u], in my opinion anyway)
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] (similar to [name_f]Paige[/name_f])
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (a variation of [name_f]Marlene[/name_f]/[name_f]Marlene[/name_f], according to NB)
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] (relates to [name_f]Mary[/name_f]…both your mother and [name_f]MIL[/name_f] have names that relate to [name_f]Mary[/name_f])
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] (" ")
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
Best of luck choosing something special for your little one’s middle name! And congratulations.
[name_f]Marlena[/name_f] is a variant of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (or however you want to spell it) [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] fits with your first daughter’s names.
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] means sun-ray and is originally a form of [name_f]Helen[/name_f] which has [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as an alternative.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]/[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] seems pretty perfect for you, stylistically similar to [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Presley[/name_u], honours [name_f]Marlena[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] ([name_f]MAR[/name_f] sound) and it’s meaning on NB is given as ‘‘driftwood’’. It also tied into [name_f]Isla[/name_f], since it comes from the island of [name_f]Islay[/name_f]. So like, driftwood island. It’s cute. Plus it’s 2 syllables so works with your last name.
Secondly, I’ll mention [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] - again it contains the ‘[name_f]MAR[/name_f]’ sound and has several beautiful meanings from around the world.
Otherwise maybe;
[name_f]Mariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f] (‘sun and sea’)
[name_f]Maribelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Samara[/name_f]/[name_f]Tamara[/name_f] (both are Hebrew like [name_u]Eden[/name_u])
[name_f]Evalena[/name_f] (has the ending of [name_f]Marlena[/name_f])
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] ([name_f]Mar[/name_f]lena and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] means “bright shining one.”
[name_u]Marley[/name_u] = “pleasant seaside meadow.” ([name_f]Mar[/name_f] for [name_f]Marlena[/name_f] and [name_f]El[/name_f] - backwards for [name_f]Ellen[/name_f])
[name_f]Marchelle[/name_f]
Marriella
[name_f]Mareli[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] or [name_f]Mariabella[/name_f] or Mariabelle = beautiful
