Hey, everyone. I am almost 20 weeks and posted last week about needing to come up with a name I love for our baby boy. The first name, unfortunately, must be [name]George[/name] because that is my husband’s name. We are going to call the baby by his middle name. DH is pretty ticked at me for telling him I don’t care for [name]George[/name] [name]Anthony[/name], so I need to come up with some fabulous options to present to him. Boys’ names are so much harder than girls’ names! Also, my family doesn’t really have any family names, so I don’t have anything to suggest on that end. I need to come up with something “meaningful” for this middle name, but I think that may just be too much to ask. I feel like I’ve already considered every name out there!
Anyway, here’s what I’ve got:
[name]George[/name] [name]August[/name] (I am pretty sure DH doesn’t like this one, but I’m going to keep pushing for it!)
[name]George[/name] [name]Julian[/name] (DH likes [name]Julian[/name], but for some reason, “not for this child.” [name]Don[/name]'t ask me…)
I also like [name]Michael[/name] and [name]Elliott[/name], but those don’t work with FN [name]George[/name]. I am also partial to [name]Roman[/name] and [name]Dominic[/name], which DH has nixed. Any comments or further suggestions? I am looking for something not to unusual (DH is EXTREMELY traditional), but pretty. If it helps, I love nineteenth-century literature and anything French. My heritage is Italian and Cajun French. I’ve tried thinking of literary names, but to no avail.
And on a random note, we came up with [name]Remy[/name] for our dog, which we both love; unfortunately it’s now our dog’s name.
I like both [name]August[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] with [name]George[/name]! It’s a shame that you don’t seem to care for [name]George[/name] but if your husband gets to name his son after himself, then it’s only fair that he allows you to choose a middle name YOU love. Here are some suggestions.
Thanks for your suggestions, [name]Mischa[/name]! I’m trying to stay away from anything TOO French because I just don’t think people are going to be able to pronounce those names. It hurts me to hear people butcher perfectly lovely names. DH will probably also think they are too weird.
I do think I like [name]George[/name] [name]Olivier[/name]. I also like [name]George[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]George[/name] [name]Bennett[/name] but can’t use those because other people in my family already have those or similar names.
