My boyfriend and I will be welcoming our first child, a baby girl, into the world in early [name_u]January[/name_u]. We currently have three clear frontrunners for names - [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Emery[/name_u]), Estée (nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f]), and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] - but no real ideas as for middle names. We both really like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but that’s all that we can come up with lol. To give you a better idea of our style a longer list of first names we have considered includes [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_u]Winter[/name_u].
We toyed with the idea of using a family name, but our mothers names are [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] and [name_f]Sharla[/name_f] and grandmothers are [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], [name_f]Donna[/name_f], and [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], and I don’t feel like any of those are a perfect fit. I have an estranged family member named [name_f]Jane[/name_f] which is a name that we both love, but we feel like it would be too awkward to go with
Our last name is german, two syllables, and sounds like “back-wrote”, so we’re looking for middle names that are one or two syllables to help with the flow.
My favourite is [name_f]Estee[/name_f]. I always adore this name. I’m not the biggest fan of [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (though [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] sounds lovely! :)) and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] I prefer for a boy.
Since you like the name Elle, your mom’s name is Lisa, and you’re considering the French-sounding name Estée, what about Elise? That way you have the nickname Elle to use. To honour Sharla, you could use Arla, or Charlotte. Another way to honour Lisa is to put it back where it came from - the name Elizabeth/Elisabeth! Since you like Lucy, you could use Lucia as a formal name, which is a bit of a nod to Patricia. Or any ‘cia’ name, really. Anna is a loose way to honour Donna (they share the ‘nna’ ending) and Nancy (that shares the ‘an’). The name Liliana has an ‘onna’ sound like Donna, plus it has the first two letters of Lisa.

I love love love [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]'s suggestion of [name_f]Estee[/name_f] [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Estee[/name_f] is definitely my favorite of your top three choices. It’s just such an elegant name, it also makes me think of starry evenings and moonlight, especially with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (which I’m pretty sure means ‘night’ so it really completes the imagery, and it does honor both moms very well!) Sounds like a winner to me! Best of luck.
I love the combo of [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Estee[/name_f] [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as mentioned earlier. I like the name [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] but prefer it for a boy.
