We have decided (finally) that [name]Theo[/name] is going to be the first name. Feeling very stuck on middles though. I want the middle name to honour my mother. Her first name was [name]Jean[/name] and I have been struggling with finding a middle based on this. We were thinking of going with [name]Jean[/name]-Francois (both of my parents names - [name]Jean[/name] pronounced the french way - although when we lived in Montreal it drove her crazy that everyone pronounced it the french way even with her feminine middle name. So I am just not sure about it. Some of you suggested [name]Gene[/name] in my last thread, but neither my partner or I like it very much.
[name]Both[/name] of my parents passed away many years ago, so my other thought is to find a name that means brave, courage, or something similar, which I think of when I think of them. What do you think of these, and which goes best with [name]Avery[/name] [name]Marie[/name]?
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Keane[/name] (I found some sites that say it means fighter, or battler)
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Leander[/name] (means lion-man; and can also get nickname [name]Leo[/name] out of it, which is also of significance to me)
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Leonard[/name] (means brave lion - but I am not sure I like [name]Leonard[/name])
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Everett[/name] (means strong as a boar, brave. I really love the name [name]Everett[/name])
[name]Do[/name] you have any other suggestions along these lines?
Wow I really [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Theo[/name] [name]Leander[/name]! It’s very cool and I love that the meaning a possible nickname has meaning to you.
I too really like [name]Theo[/name] [name]Leander[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] [name]Everett[/name], thought [name]Leander[/name] would get my vote simply because of the ‘wow’ factor.
I’m sure you know [name]Jean[/name] is a feminine form of [name]John[/name]-- is [name]John[/name] or any of its variants of interest to you? Something like [name]Theo[/name] [name]Jonathan[/name]?
Brave & Courageous middles:
[name]Allard[/name] (noble and brave)
[name]Archibald[/name] (“Genuine, bold, brave.”)
[name]Baldwin[/name] (“Bold, brave friend.”)
[name]Ballard[/name] (“Brave and strong”)
[name]Basil[/name] (brave)
[name]Bernard[/name] … “Strong, brave bear.”
[name]Conrad[/name] … “Brave, bold ruler or counsel.”
[name]Farley[/name] (“brave man”)
[name]Gerard[/name] … “Spear brave.”
[name]Gifford[/name] … “Brave giver”
[name]Hardy[/name] … “Bold, brave.”
Kenway … “Brave or royal fighter”
[name]Leopold[/name] … “Brave people”
[name]Prewitt[/name] / [name]Pruitt[/name]… “Brave little one”
[name]Reinhart[/name]… “brave counsel”
[name]Valiant[/name], as suggested by another poster
[name]Farrell[/name] … “[name]Hero[/name], man of courage.”
[name]Emery[/name] … From [name]Emmerich[/name], meaning “bravery, vigor; power”
I just realized the [name]Theo[/name] [name]Everett[/name] D___ would mean the initials spell [name]TED[/name], which we are trying to avoid, hence not going with [name]Theodore[/name]. Not sure that would become an issue but it could I guess.
So [name]Theo[/name] [name]Leander[/name] is getting some very positive comments, thanks!
[name]Blade[/name]: Yes, I’ve looked at several variants of [name]Jean[/name]/[name]John[/name] - such as [name]Sean[/name], [name]Ian[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Ewan[/name], but none of them are hitting home with me. Thanks for your list, I’m going to look into those a little further- I love [name]Basil[/name], partner doesn’t though. I was immediately drawn to [name]Emmerich[/name] too, never even heard of it!
I like [name]Theo[/name] [name]Leander[/name] too-- while I like the meaning of [name]Leonard[/name] it looks to close to [name]Theo[/name] with the EO together. I like the suggestion of [name]Theo[/name] [name]Conrad[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] [name]Jonathan[/name] above. What about [name]Theo[/name] [name]John[/name] or [name]Theo[/name] [name]Francis[/name]?
