So last night my partner and I vetoed each other’s favourite boy names
His was [name_u]Oleander[/name_u] and mine was [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
Our (shared) list is so short now and none of the names left seem to have any spark or I can’t imagine using them:
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Finlay[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] (I wish!)
Our favourite girl names are [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
Names that we would probably like if they weren’t so popular or already used in the family are [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u].
[name_m]Can[/name_m] you guys help? I feel like I know every name in the book but maybe some encouragement will help me fall in love with one or two… Ideally something a little unusual but recognisable with some vintage flair would be great!
Edmund was my first thought. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] came to mind, too, but, of course, it’s far more common that the names you tend to favor, and I see you listed it as such.
These sound to me like they would fit in with your list:
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Finnegan[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
Thank you! I really love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], obviously I’m on the E name trend!
I’m adoring [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] too as a few people have mentioned it. [name_m]How[/name_m] usable do we think it is in reality? There are some really conservative people where we live and even though I don’t care what they think, I hate when they make it all known on their face. We’ve gotten slack for naming our dog [name_f]Jeta[/name_f] (pronounced like [name_f]Jada[/name_f])!
Wonderful list thank you for your generosity! Definitely some on there that I hadn’t thought about. [name_m]Willard[/name_m] is so cool. I wonder how a [name_u]Rocco[/name_u] would fare as an adult?
I’ve been thinking about [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] a lot lately! It’s my favorite of the [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- names but I’m not sure it works with SO’s last name (think Domegan).
Which is the same reason we can’t use [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I think it’s by far the best [name_u]Finn[/name_u]- name. [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] one of my friends wants to use it and we’ve agreed a [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] and [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] would be just fine as mates
I’m slowly coming round to [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] too! What do we think of [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nickname for him?
Thank you so much for your contributions everyone.
Since posting I’ve also been reconsidering some old favourites (since before my taste got all influenced by the berry style): [name_m]Miro[/name_m] and [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m].
I love these but I’m not sure they work with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]! Any thoughts?
Thank you SO much everybody, I can’t believe it worked! We have completely fallen in love with the name [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u] and we have a few back ups that we feel a lot better about now too. Our new list looks like this:
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_u]Finlay[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
We appreciate everyone’s feedback hopefully we’ll be pregnant and bringing some of these babies earth-side soon.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u] is a magnificent name! I adore [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] as back-ups
