I have a son L30 and daughter M@rg0t (please don’t type out full names in responses!) and we are planning on trying for our third and last soon. We have quite a few girl names that we both love but are really stuck on boy names. We just seem to have really different tastes.
I like names like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], and [name_m]Peter[/name_m].
He likes names like [name_m]Caius[/name_m], [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], [name_m]Lucius[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucian[/name_m], [name_m]Jebediah[/name_m], [name_m]Marius[/name_m], and [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]
Only names we both even sort of like: [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (but out because [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is too close to our son’s name), [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Augustin[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (but I’m in the US and not sure how well this works here and worried about the nerdy aardvark association) and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].
I just don’t know how well those go with our other kid’s names and whether any of them feel like “the one”. I am hoping you guys can help us bridge the gap between our tastes/styles to suggest some names we might both like that go well with our other kids’ names.
I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for you. You don’t have to use [name_u]Theo[/name_u] - you can call him Ted, [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_m]Ned[/name_m].
Some more ideas:
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Jethro[/name_m]
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
I like [name_u]August[/name_u] the best with your other two. It is vintage like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and shares the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] vibe with [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. If you are nickname people you could use [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. I like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] too (I don’t think it’s too nerdy in the US) and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] from your list.
Thanks for the suggestions! I do like [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] from the suggestions but my husband is really not wanting another ending in O name and he doesn’t like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (too pretentious he says and too close to our son’s name) and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] is too popular in our area.
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] is another name we both like, but I’m not sure if it works because our son’s middle name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
Thanks! I do really love the name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], I am just not really fond of the nicknames [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_m]Ned[/name_m]. I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u] but that is obviously not going to work with my son’s name and am worried I wouldn’t really have a way of controlling that nickname once they are in school, etc.
I don’t think your sons middle name should hold you back from using a name you both love. You’ll probably refer to them mostly by their first names L3o M@rgot and [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. Perfect!
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] is growing on me. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s “too much” for the South? Is the cat association still strong? Does it sound like too much cat with my son’s name which obviously means lion?
