Need Name Suggestions

I’m having a difficult time finding girl names that dh loves (or even likes…)

I’ve always loved [name]Gwendolyn[/name], and finally got a ‘I could probably be okay with [name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Rose[/name]’ from my husband, but want him to love a name or at least like it alot more than that.

I also love [name]Bianca[/name], but he’s eh on that one too.

Last night, I told him about Elowyn, and he actually seems to really like it, but neither of us want a made up name, which this one seems to be. And this may sound odd, but the name is pronounced so quickly and I want a longer pronounced name (maybe its bc all the sounds in Elowyn are very soft… I don’t know)

Any suggestions built upon these names, especially Elowyn? Real names, very feminine (that would go with brother [name]Thaddeus[/name] nn [name]Thad[/name])? Middle name suggestions would also be appreciated.

[name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Jacqueline[/name], [name]Carolyn[/name], [name]Winnifred[/name], [name]Aislin[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Amalia[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Alessandra[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Georgianna[/name], Nellwyn, [name]Magdalena[/name], [name]Felicity[/name]

Elowen is one of the names on our list and it is not made up, but would be pronounced the same as your “Elowyn”. It means “[name]Elm[/name] or [name]Elm[/name] tree”. It is Cornish…

[name]Hope[/name] that might help calm your fear of a made-up name…I have the same fear!

The reason Elowen is pronounced quickly and seems “soft” is because it’s made up of short vowels, liquids, and a nasal - all very “soft” sounds. (Unlike “k, t, b, ch, s,” etc, which can tend to sound a little harsher.) So, it doesn’t seem odd to me that you’ve come to that conclusion!

I really like Elowen, but agree that it does seem a little made up, (even if it is a legitimate name.) Also, it seems very similar to a lot of LOTR names, and so I can’t get that association out of my head! I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Gwendolyn[/name], so too bad it’s out. I’m not very good at coming up with my own alternatives, but I really like [name]Winnifred[/name], [name]Magdalena[/name], and [name]Francesca[/name] as someone suggested. These seem to fit with what you’re going for, and all sound fantastic with [name]Thaddeus[/name].

I think [name]Gwendolyn[/name] would be perfect, can you get him to love [name]Wendy[/name], [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Wynn[/name], or another beautiful nickname? Elowyn could actually almost be used as a nn for [name]Gwendolyn[/name].

[name]Gwenyth[/name]
[name]Dorthea[/name] (actually has the same meaning as your sons name)

[name]Gwendolyn[/name] and Elowen are lovely, maybe he’s just slow to warm up to the names

[name]Winifred[/name]'s a great suggestion, and [name]Thad[/name] with a little sis called [name]Winnie[/name] would be just gorgeous.

Since [name]Gwendolyn[/name] and Elowen are Welsh and Cornish, if you’re still looking for ideas, how about [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Coraline[/name], [name]Kerensa[/name], [name]Demelza[/name], [name]Morwenna[/name], or Endellion? Other more ‘substantial’ names that come to mind are Aleydis, [name]Clemency[/name], [name]Finola[/name], and [name]Jessamyn[/name].

Uhm… personally I’d just go for [name]Gwendolyn[/name]. He will love it once it’s used.

But otherwise, what about:
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Celestine[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name]
