This is my first baby and I’m having an unbelievable time with names! I’m getting down to the wire and feel too close to my top names to make a decision. Can you help provide thoughts on these?
Out of the names you listed, [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] looks most familiar to me and thus is the one I like most. But I would prefer [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]!
Congratulations on your first baby!
[name_f]Delphi[/name_f] is a major automotive supplier, I don’t know if you knew that. Could be that the name is only significant to me that way because we’re in [name_m]Detroit[/name_m].
I like Searcy best of your other picks, unless it turned out that any of the others have a special meaning for you. I’m a sucker for names with a personal meaning or a story behind their selection!
I’m also not keen on any of the names you’ve listed here…
I’ve never seen Maymah or Searcy before and I really don’t like them. The former looks made up, while the latter I’ve no idea how it is pronounced and it just doesn’t look like a name. Could you combine similar sounds and consider [name_f]Mercy[/name_f]? There’s an Irish name [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] pronounced Seer-sha maybe you would like that?
[name_f]LaRue[/name_f] is just odd, while [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] is very nicknamey. What about [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Delphina[/name_f]?
I like Circy or [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f], which are close to Searcy. Otherwise I like [name_f]Delphi[/name_f]. It is such a beautiful and powerful place in Greece. I actually like it better than [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], which is too much like Dolphin for me. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] Maymah sounds more like a nn and I just really don’t like [name_f]LaRue[/name_f]. It’s not my style at all.
I also like [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] the best… although I just remembered that it’s supposed to be pronounced Delph-eye and I had been imagining Delph-ee (which I think is cuter as a name). Reminiscent of [name_f]Darci[/name_f]. [name_f]Delphinia[/name_f] is also an option for a long-form. I had never heard of [name_f]LaRue[/name_f] until my friend used it for her daughter’s middle name, after one of her grandmothers. I’m not really a huge fan.
I haven’t heard of your two other options, although Searcy seems close to [name_f]Circe[/name_f]. Maymah just makes me think of someone “maimer,” assuming that’s how it’s supposed to be pronounced. Sorry to be such a Negative [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]! I want to give my honest opinion though just so you know before picking a name what associations other people might have. I do like names that start with “[name_f]May[/name_f]” – maybe [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Mamie[/name_f]? I really like the middle name [name_u]Wyn[/name_u]. Also congratulations!!
