We are expecting our first early [name_f]April[/name_f], gender is unknown at the moment so I am brain storming names for both. So far for the boys we have…
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]VETOED
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
Roman Evander
Which is your favorite? I know these may not be everyone’s style but we like them. We are trying to get the list down to one combo for each name. We have another combo which may be our front runner but I want to keep that private. Thanks in advance
My favorite is [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. I want to like [name_m]Altair[/name_m], but it reminds me of the word Altar too much.
Of the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] combos, I like it best as [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]. Which pronunciation do you use for [name_u]Elias[/name_u]?
@sansa- Thank you! Oh I totally did not think of that with [name_m]Altair[/name_m] at all. For [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u] I pronounce it Ee-Lie-Us.
I guess depending if you are religious, altar might be okay? For me it’d be a detractor though. Gotcha! I’m used to hear it as ell-ee-as, but ee-lie us sounds better with [name_m]Roman[/name_m].
I am not super religious at all.I mean I am catholic but its not like we go to church or anything. It is something to think about and definitley will be addressing with my boyfriend to see what he thinks. At first when I read it I thought it was pronounces just like how you said but its Ee-lie-us since its a form of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m].
I love [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. They’re strong, masculine names that feel a little unusual and magical without being too out there. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is great too.
Thank you southern! I am shocked to see how well people are responding to [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. I appreciate you chiming in since I am so torn.
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is my favorite. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] brings to mind a good mixture of strong and smart and I can see it fitting a wide range of men. I’m not big on nn but I think [name_m]Rome[/name_m] and [name_m]Rommy[/name_m] would be catching for the toddler years. [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] is strong I just prefer [name_m]Cyprus[/name_m] in general.
@Hootowl- Thank you, I agree with it being a strong name. Yea I am definitely not big on NN in general. I think I would just always call him [name_m]Roman[/name_m] if we chose that name. I like [name_m]Cyprus[/name_m] as well but out last name starts with a SCH making a shh sound and it does not sound right. The flow is completely off so that is why we chose [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] over [name_m]Cyprus[/name_m] and [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m].
[name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] or [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u], preferably the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] choice. ([name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] isn’t my style, to be honest it sounds like a medication.) The only two id advise against would be [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Raoul[/name_m], seems like a mouthful with the r’s, and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m]… Each time I read it I see “roman invader” which doesn’t seem like a great association.
I agree with the previous poster who said [name_m]Rome[/name_m] or [name_m]Rommy[/name_m] are awesome nicknames for a little boy if you wanted to use them.
I know most of my choices are not peoples style but I like different and we like them so its okay. Thanks for the break down of those. I agree with that now that you mentioned it. Thanks for the input even though they arent your style
Great list, of course! I think you’ve got some smashing names.
These are my favourites:
[name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Altair[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Altair[/name_m]'s pronounced al-TAIR for those who are unaware, not like altar at all.
Hmm…
[name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is my favourite combination, I’m not keen on [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] in all honesty but I think [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] needs a strong sounding classic middle name, therefore [name_m]Edward[/name_m] fits the bill brilliantly. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I love the names [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] and [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] they just sound to soft with [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] not strong enough.
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u] this is my favourite combination, [name_u]Elias[/name_u] has a nice flow with the adorable [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] is a lovely choice and I’ve grown very attached to [name_m]Roman[/name_m] recently. I’m crushing on [name_m]Roman[/name_m] defiantly!! [name_m]Roman[/name_m] just sounds great I also love how he sounds with the biblical [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. The combination has a great flow. I do love [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] though, but [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] doesn’t have the lustre of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u].
Out of the two I would use [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]!!
Thanks [name_f]Tori[/name_f], I know it is not everyones cup of tea. It is not our front runner but I just want to have options picked out just case if we have a boy and he is born he may not look like the name we have kind of chosen already. I included [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] because I always think ahead which I probably shouldn’t but the middle name option we have for our other boy name is Hebrew just like [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] so I liked that subtle connection when [name_m]Edward[/name_m] does not fit.
Thank you I like this combo and my boyfriend likes [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]. I agree with you! Thank you for breaking it down I appreciate it.
I can see where you are coming from. It’s just how you hear it just like how the one berry thought [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] sounded like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Invader.
