Need some help naming my baby girl

She’s currently called Peanut, but I’m not sure that’s suitable for a child haha  I like rare, kind of strange names, and I’m not sure if they’d fit a child or if they’re just going to be laughed at. I don’t have a big list right now, but it’s constantly growing.

[name_f]Aline[/name_f] - My mother always said that this was her first choice for my name, but that my dad didn’t love it so they chose Yerin instead. I like it, it’s sweet but I’m not sure if everyone will get the pronunciation right.
[name_f]Demetria[/name_f] - This is the newest one. I heard it on a show called [name_f]Atlantis[/name_f] last night and I’m falling for it. The only thing is I hate the nickname [name_f]Demi[/name_f].
[name_u]Ib[/name_u] - I know, it’s stupid. It’s pronounced EE-b but once again I don’t think everyone would get that. I like that it’s short and simple, those are my favourite kinds of names. But how would I pair it up with a middle name?
Eni - I’m not sure how this one is pronounced, I was thinking like EE-knee? Another short simple one, could it be a nickname for a longer name maybe?
[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] - I just love the sound of it, but the man doesn’t like it so much.
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - I was hoping to honor my grandad and use this as a middle name because I think it might be to old fashioned for a baby girl.

I know my choices are kind of odd, but I love them. What do you guys think? And do you have any suggestions that I could add to the list?

Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Nameberry. From your list, [name_f]Aline[/name_f] and [name_f]Demetria[/name_f] are very beautiful. I think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] would make a lovely mn choice (I like it for a first name too). [name_u]Ib[/name_u] and Eni are just not my cup of tea. They look too short and lack substance. [name_u]Dominique[/name_u] is ok but a little “dated” like a lot of the “ique” names ([name_f]Monique[/name_f] and [name_f]Angelique[/name_f]). Have you considered another version of Domininque like [name_f]Dominica[/name_f]? Always remember that you’re naming an “adult” not just a child. We spend most of our lives as mature adults so a name should be suitable for all ages.

Combo Suggestions

[name_f]Demetria[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Aline[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Dominica[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

You have a cool list!

[name_f]Aline[/name_f] – This is pretty and rare but not too “out-there.” I assume it is pronounced ah-LEAN. Is that correct? If so, I think the pronunciation will not be too much of a problem and the name is a great choice!

[name_f]Demetria[/name_f] – This name is absolutely beautiful! Very regal and sophisticated. It is problematic that you don’t like [name_f]Demi[/name_f] though, because it will probably get shortened to [name_f]Demi[/name_f] often unless you choose another nickname. I can see [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], or Metria working as nicknames. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of those?

[name_u]Ib[/name_u] – I definitely do not think this would work as a name. The pronunciation is not clear based on the spelling and it is hard to picture the name on an adult. [name_f]Ebony[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] would be better alternatives.

Eni – the EE-knee pronunciation reminds me of the word “teeny.” : /

[name_u]Dominique[/name_u] – The name is not my style, but it does work.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] – I agree that this is a little too old-fashioned to be useable.

Some other names you might like:
Lanti
[name_f]Neve[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

I hope that helps!

I like [name_f]Aline[/name_f] and [name_f]Demetria[/name_f]. [name_u]Ib[/name_u] is OK.

I like [name_f]Aline[/name_f] & [name_f]Demetria[/name_f]…

[name_f]Priya[/name_f]
[name_f]Yara[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]

The first thing that popped into my head was [name_u]Simone[/name_u].

[name_f]Aline[/name_f] is nice. I know someone named [name_f]Ena[/name_f] ( EE-na) which seems more complete than [name_u]Ib[/name_u] or Eni.

I know an older lady name [name_f]Aline[/name_f] (al-een). I think it is beautiful.

Why don’t you look at the best cool unusual girls names? Your style seems pretty eclectic and it may pique your interest.

I love [name_u]Dominique[/name_u]! It’s my favorite of your list. [name_f]Aline[/name_f] and [name_f]Demetria[/name_f] are also wonderful! I would definately use [name_f]Francine[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Dominique[/name_u] [name_f]Francine[/name_f] is so exquisite!

I have a friend called [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] which translates to free life (that’s what her mum told me) which I think it’s endearing. Have you considered another spelling of [name_f]Aline[/name_f]? Alyeen? (Pronounced Aa-lean?). I used to have a neighbour with that name such a striking spelling and sound

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] means [name_u]Free[/name_u] which I think is endearing. [name_f]Aline[/name_f] I have seen spelt Alyeen too or Aliane (I think they are all pronounced Aa-lean) if you are considering other spellings/alternatives

I like [name_f]Demetria[/name_f] best for your list. Sunshine_10’s suggestion for [name_f]Mia[/name_f] as a nickname is adorable and definitely could work. [name_f]Aline[/name_f], [name_u]Ib[/name_u] and Eni are a little too out there for me. [name_f]Aline[/name_f] looks like Align or A-line (like the style of a dress)

I like [name_f]Demetria[/name_f] from your list, but it’ll most likely get shortened to [name_f]Demi[/name_f]. The other ones are a little too “out there”…

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_f]Vada[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Rena[/name_f]
[name_f]Wren[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]

[name_f]Zina[/name_f]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]

I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Aline[/name_f]. It sounds so dainty, fresh and feminine. That is a fantastic choice!!!
As far as [name_f]Demetria[/name_f], all I think when I see that name is “dementia”, I’m sorry!
I agree with you about [name_u]Ib[/name_u]. No one will get that pronunciation right at first and I feel like that is just a recipe for getting made fun of.
I also like [name_u]Dominique[/name_u].
What about:
[name_f]Edy[/name_f]
[name_f]Evvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Icie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Bette[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sandrine[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]

I tried to think of some that seem like your style. Best of luck
