We don’t know if this baby is a boy or girl, so we’re making a shortlist of names for each. I have a couple girls’ names I like ([name_f]Willow[/name_f]/[name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f]), but I’m coming up short for boys’ names. Help!
I kind of like these, but I’m looking for more suggestions please. We like names that aren’t too popular.
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] (but it’s too popular)
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]/[name_m]Sayer[/name_m]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
Middle name will likely be [name_m]John[/name_m], unless it doesn’t flow well (like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] sounds weird, so might become [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]).
I like [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but it’s my cousin’s name. [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] are cute, I like them. [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] are common here and so is [name_m]Shep[/name_m]…but as a dog’s name. :-/ Thanks for the suggestions!
It’s really popular here.
Other names I like but am not sure of:
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] (for a boy)
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] (not keen on nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m] though)
[name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] (DH hates it)
[name_m]Cillian[/name_m] (DH hates it)
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] (DH hates it)
[name_m]Xander[/name_m] (not sold on this one)
I like [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] from your list and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is nice but I agree that it is so popular. I prefer [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on a girl. Other suggestions…
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_u]Jensen[/name_u]. [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] has possibilities too. [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] is a popular brand of whiskey here, so probably won’t go for that even though I love it! [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] was on my list but DH hates it (we can’t agree on anything!).
[name_m]How[/name_m] strange?! My husband just said he likes [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for our baby if it’s a boy. We really liked it when we were having a girl but didn’t go for it in the end. I’ve said no as it seems too girly but it’s good to see someone else considering for a boy too! I may be swayed!
We have [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]/[name_m]Coen[/name_m] on our list too.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on girls, was my grandmother’s pet name for me. Seems too delicate a creature for a boys name to me. We make our two week old [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. It’s not as popular herei guess. On my list was Ronen, you’ll probably prefer the Irish [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] if you do like it over more obscure Jewish Ronen. Also was in love with [name_m]Oren[/name_m]/[name_m]Orrin[/name_m] but dad wouldn’t go for it, it had the [name_u]Wren[/name_u] sound but definitely masculine and more prevalent then you’d think. Definitely not popular though
[name_u]Love[/name_u] some of these, so writing them down to think on further. DH is so picky it’s good to have a big list…of course, he hasn’t offered any suggestions of his own yet. Sigh.
I definitely think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] could be unisex. I’ve heard it on a couple of boys over here, and no girls. I know in the States it’s more popular for girls, but so are a lot of names that are strictly boys’ names here ([name_u]Leslie[/name_u], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Christy[/name_u], Caolan (prn Kaylinn), etc.). So I’m keeping it on the list for now, even though I’m almost certain DH will veto it. I also like [name_m]Samson[/name_m], although not sure about the nn [name_u]Sam[/name_u]. It’s really popular here, so will have to decide how much this bothers us.
[name_m]Oren[/name_m] was on our list last time around, and made the final shortlist, but then we had a girl. Since then though we’ve realised that, like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], it’s really popular here. I’ve met at least 4 Orens in the last year, although all spelled differently. [name_m]Odhran[/name_m] is the most common spelling here. I may consider it again though, because it is lovely!
