Need some inspiration for Oliver's little sister

Hoping to find some inspiration from some name aficionados! We are looking for a name for our little girl due in [name_f]October[/name_f]. Older brother is [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m] ([name_u]Ollie[/name_u])

We currently have 2 names set aside:
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] has been a favorite of ours for years, and is the one name we completely agree on. I’m not sure I love the nickname [name_u]Abbie[/name_u], and I’ve been trying to find something to top this name. I don’t like that it is a top 10 name, however have yet to meet a little girl named [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is the nickname we named the baby, and we like the idea of making it her middle name.

I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tilda[/name_f]), however my husband is less convinced. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a family name.

We are looking for names with a vintage feel, something that has a pretty nickname. My husband also likes [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] ([name_f]Winnie[/name_f]), however our last name is [name_m]Walsh[/name_m], and I’m not sure how I feel about the double-W. We’ve also talked about [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (to popular/ close to son’s name), [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. None quite fit.

Any suggestions would be wonderful! [name_m]Just[/name_m] looking for ideas. Thank you!

I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and another nickname is [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] just sounds so darling!

Here’s a lists of some names that I think are in your vibe for more inspiration!

[name_f]Katarina[/name_f] ([name_f]Kat[/name_f], [name_f]Katy[/name_f], [name_f]Rina[/name_f]) I like this name because its close-ish to [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but very unique and pretty.
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] ([name_u]Georgie[/name_u], [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f])
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f] ([name_f]Letty[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Retta[/name_f])
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] ([name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Mellie[/name_f], Ames)
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] ([name_u]Cory[/name_u],[name_f]Delia[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f])
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ([name_f]Jenny[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f])
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f])
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f])

Good luck!

My vote goes to [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], but I’m biased because thats what we named our daughter. shes 7 now and goes by [name_u]Abby[/name_u] 90% of the time.
I thought it was an uncommon name and i guess its gained popularity, while I’ve never personally met another one, there are 2 others in my daughters school. I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is beautiful and i prefer it too [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I also love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] from your list (its on mine too) A few other suggestions are
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (still really popular)
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] / [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] / [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] ([name_f]Dot[/name_f] or [name_f]Dotty[/name_f] for short)

They are both beautiful, but I think you should consider [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] as the first name.

I like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], it seems to hold a special place for you too. Some other names to throw around could be (probably have repeats from previous posters):

[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Ana[/name_f]/[name_u]Stacy[/name_u]/[name_f]Staci[/name_f])
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f])
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]/[name_f]Elenora[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f])
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f])
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Louise[/name_f])
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f])
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_u]Angie[/name_u])
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f])
[name_f]Georgetta[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]/[name_f]Etta[/name_f])
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]/[name_f]Ana[/name_f]/[name_f]Gia[/name_f])
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ([name_f]Ginny[/name_f]/[name_f]Viv[/name_f])
[name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Gertie[/name_f]/[name_f]Trudy[/name_f])
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f])
[name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Jackie[/name_u]/[name_m]Jac[/name_m])
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Jules[/name_u])
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Linnie[/name_f]/[name_f]Viv[/name_f])
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Lu[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f])
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Maxie[/name_u]/[name_u]Max[/name_u])
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u])
[name_f]Prudence[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Pru[/name_f])
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f])
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Sammy[/name_u]/[name_u]Sam[/name_u])
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Viv[/name_f])

My vote is for [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] as well but I can almost guarantee she’ll be called [name_u]Abby[/name_u] at some point or another (all of the Abigails I know are ‘[name_u]Abby[/name_u]’)- just something to think about! I know a [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] (pronounced just like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddy[/name_f]), so that’s an option if you like it. Other names you might like:

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_u]Dell[/name_u])
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_u]Jules[/name_u]) - [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] is super adorable!
(Other [name_f]Etta[/name_f] full names: [name_f]Lynette[/name_f], [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f] etc)
[name_f]Aida[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Nola[/name_f])
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u])
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f])
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u])

Like any of these? Good luck!

Both choices work well with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m], so you really can’t go wrong here! That said, I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] best with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m]-- both classics with short mns. You could use [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tillie[/name_f] if you don’t like [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]/[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] as a nn. [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a lovely combination, but I do think [name_u]Abby[/name_u] is almost inevitable unless you call her [name_f]Gail[/name_f] or are strict about people just using [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] with no nn.

My favourite out of your list is [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I love both names, and adore the nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]!

Thank you for all the suggestions! I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f], but that is the name of our best friends dog… [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is also beautiful. I guess I’m just finding it a challenge to pick a name that will follow our child for the rest of their lives! [name_m]Just[/name_m] a huge decision!
