Need some inspiration for some changing tastes

Hey guys so I’ve noticed recently my taste in girls names (my boys names are still the same style). Usually I’m into more tougher names but now my tastes have gone all well I don’t know. What do you do in that situation? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find new names or try and go back to the old style? Is that a sign I need new names? Some suggestions would be lovely.

[name_f]Inspiration[/name_f] =

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_u]Carlin[/name_u]
[name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Skyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilyanne[/name_f] (bad experiences with [name_f]Lily[/name_f] but I like [name_f]Lilyanne[/name_f])
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f] (maybe less controversial though)
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f]
[name_f]Dottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bea[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Gracelyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Keely[/name_u]
[name_f]Cammie[/name_f]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you can help!!

Any ideas?

I think the more you explore names the more you are likely to look at certain names differently. I don’t think you should scrap your old list but you shouldn’t confine yourself to one type of name either. I don’t like to name my personal style.

To be honest I think a lot of the names on your list are very strong. I don’t see a move away from strength. Maybe you are just seeing a different kind of strength in them than usual?

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Alaska[/name_f], [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] and [name_u]Carlin[/name_u] are some I can definitely imagine on a feisty strong willed girl.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonor[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]

^ strong names that are still girly?

P.S. We always all need new names!!

Thank you! I like [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] and [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f].

I think you shouldn’t try to limit yourself to one "style"of names because you might miss something that you would really like. I mean fashion changes all the time so why can’t names. I’m always on the look out for something fun and unique.

Of your list, I love the following.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_u]Carlin[/name_u]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f] nn [name_f]Jemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_u]Keely[/name_u]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]

I would suggest…
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
Caitrin
[name_f]Brenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Flavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Taryn[/name_f]
Druinn
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]

I totally get you. Most time, I’ll add the new names I’m liking to my list and then kind of wait it out to see if I still so in to them after a while.

Here are some suggestions:
[name_f]Arbor[/name_f]
[name_u]Auden[/name_u]
[name_f]Britta[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]/[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]

Hopefully this helps!

I think it’s perfectly normal for your naming style to change, especially afters signing up here and being exposed to a lot more names than before.
My own style went from simple, (e.g. [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] etc.)
to more extravagant, (e.g. [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_m]Casimir[/name_m], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], etc.)
to trying to fit in with all the “modern-word-name-lovers” on here as I thought the imagery of their combos was beautiful and magical
to dropping that as I realized I like(d) the imagery but not the sound nor the not the fact that they are, to me, random words
to settling with what I feel comfortable with, a style that, if I were to have a child now, I could choose a name from without feeling like I’m pretending to be someone I’m not but rather the opposite, having the name be a reflection of who I am and what I value.

I have come full circle in some way but I discovered beautiful names in every phase and some have stuck with me; so while I do prefer classic names to extravagant ones (I’d feel odd naming a child [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f], I’m just not that kind of person), names like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] can still be found on my list as, for me, they’re the perfect mix of classic and extravagant and complement (and compliment) to-the-point beauties like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] wonderfully.

So, just go with it, change your signature, make lists, change those lists, create combos, don’t be afraid to try out new things BUT stay true to yourself, don’t be a clone, don’t try to like a name or naming style just because it is a NB favourite, you’d waste a lot of time with that as no matter what, there will always be people who like your style and people who do not

I agree, there is definitely a strength to your list of names…maybe it’s just a type of strength you’re unaccustomed to preferring

Anyway, changing styles and preferences is normal. I do it all the time. I like classics, but not over used names.
However, I would have named my daughter [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], except the husband had something to say about that. Her name suits her fine, but on my own I would never have picked it.
And I found I don’t like unisex names, BUT I am totally naming my next child a certain name whether the baby is a girl or boy. It will probably incite rebellion!
I have developed strange rules and new tastes over the years when it comes to names. Now I just go with it, if I like it I do…if I don’t then good bye!

opheliaflora seems to have similar tastes to mine, I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], and one of my guilty pleasures in boy names has always been [name_m]Leopold[/name_m].

[name_m]How[/name_m] about some with minor similarities…

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Francine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillith[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]

[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
Azelia ([name_f]Zelie[/name_f])
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] (I love these)
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Fransabelle[/name_f] (too cute!)
[name_f]Pippy[/name_f]
[name_u]Pepper[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Junae[/name_f] or [name_f]Junie[/name_f]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] is one of my favorites. I think it’s a keeper.
Also [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]…I think this one is beautiful!

Good luck!
