I’m brand new to this site and am LOVING it! You guys have some great taste in names. So, I thought I’d write to see if I could get some middle name assistance. We have chosen the name [name]Silas[/name] for our new wee lad who is set to arrive in a few weeks. I have considered [name]Green[/name] for the middle name (it is my favorite color and it is also a cool old name that was popular in the 1800s), but I’m not sure.
I adore the name [name]Silas[/name]!!! Good job! It’s one of my favorites. However, [name]Green[/name] really isn’t working for me, which is odd because I generally like color middle names (eg [name]Golden[/name] and [name]Blue[/name]) however, given more time with it, I might come around. Here are some I might suggest:
From someone who seriously dislikes [name]Blue[/name] and generally associates colors with girls, I don’t mind [name]Green[/name]. It’s a familiar last name; I guess that’s why.
i always say “go w/ your heart or you’ll regret it.”
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Green[/name], I don’t have a problem with it.
if you want to do something that sounds like green, look for a rhyme
[name]Dean[/name] or [name]Gene[/name]
similar to green you might like to go the route of [name]Olive[/name], [name]Sage[/name], Grass.
There are threads of “color names” too.
I love [name]Silas[/name], I don’t think it’s too odd and I think it’s handsome, it has a lot of old depth to it, but seems “new again.” I love it.
Also, My male friends middle name is “[name]Brown[/name]” I always found it to be perfect.
Oh, thank you guys SO much! This is helping tremendously!
I love the idea of a nature middle name and I also love [name]Grey[/name]. It feels so good to have settled on [name]Silas[/name] for his first name. I have to admit, though, I have really enjoyed mulling it all over this time. This is my second (and last) baby so I’m trying to enjoy every moment.
I pretty much agree with previous posters.
I’m not a fan of [name]Silas[/name] [name]Green[/name], but [name]Silas[/name] [name]Grey[/name] is a nice alternative. If you’d like some other options:
I think [name]Silas[/name] [name]Green[/name] is just splendid! Gotta love those nineteenth century names, hm?
Also, I think the name [name]Silas[/name] is (or was?) associated with forests or forest-dwellers or something like that, so it fits!
Side note: I remember reading [name]Silas[/name] Marner in school. Quite an inspirational story~ (Anyone remember his daughter, [name]Hephzibah[/name] aka [name]Eppie[/name]?)
Yes! That’s right. [name]Spirit[/name] or deity of woods and fields. That’s another reason I thought [name]Green[/name] was fitting. I also kind of like the following tree middle names:
[name]Hi[/name]! I love [name]Silas[/name], too, and love your idea of using [name]Green[/name] in the middle.
If you’re still looking for middles:
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Donovan[/name]
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Gideon[/name] (Oops…When I say it out loud, the s from [name]Silas[/name] is attaching to [name]Gideon[/name], and I’m kind of hearing the word “skid.”)
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Julian[/name]
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]
I really like [name]Silas[/name] [name]Green[/name]. I think it’s got a nice flow to it, and [name]Green[/name] is a reasonably common surname so it doesn’t seem odd at all to me.
I love [name]Silas[/name] [name]Green[/name]!
[name]Silas[/name] is one of my absolute favorite boy names and [name]Green[/name] is quirky enough to be cool, but common enough as a surname not to really raise any eyebrows!
