I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with our 3rd baby, a girl! Her older siblings are Owen Elliott and Emery Sue. I had wanted to name her Nora Kate or Nora Jo but just had 2 coworkers in the past month name their daughter’s Nora Kate🙄. So I feel like Nora is out. We also have found out our daughter has multiple heart defects and will most likely be delivered early so now I’m feeling a lot of pressure to come up with some names and I would also like to find either a strong name or a strong middle name since she’s going to have a fight ahead of her once she’s born. I don’t particularly like names longer than 5 letters or nicknames.
The names we currently have are:
Lydia
Clara
Celia
Mae
June
I had thought about doing Jo after my Grandma JoNell or Kate for my Mom Kathryn but don’t know if I really want to pick 1 over the other so I’m open to using a different Middle.
So far I only really like Lydia out of those and husband only really likes Clara so we are more than open to suggestions.
Suggestions based on your criteria and Nora…
Ivy
Allegra
Nova
Cora
Stella
Penelope “Nell”
Eliza
Oona
Evelyn
Thea
Astrid
Margot
Lucy
Maeve
Harper
Adira (means strong)
Brianna (means strong)
Griffin (typically masculline, but means strong lord)
Millie (means gentle strength; strong in work)
Bridgit (means strength)
Trudy (means spear of strength)
I hope these help. The top half may have strong meanings, but I didn’t check. The ones with listed meanings all have something to do with strength, while the others are like Nora, and they have strong sounds. From my suggestions, I love, Astrid, Thea, Margot, Maeve, Millie, and Ivy but in my opinion, based on your criteria Millie may be the best option. Let me know what you think.

Sorry this is my second post…but what about [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]? It means “heart” which would be really meaningful. Plus [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] has a ton of nickname options: [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_u]Dell[/name_u], [name_f]Delia[/name_f], etc.
For strong names the first one to come to mind was [name_f]Valarie[/name_f], I also like [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I also like the idea of taking your middle ideas and using those together, [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Katie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. Is that an option for you?
For some reason [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] was the first thing that popped into my head, even though [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] is more masculine, it honors your grandma as well as reminds me a bit of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] in sound, [name_u]Joan[/name_u] might be another option
I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] on your list, [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] slightly wins out for me, only because its obvious what the pronunciation is where [name_f]Clara[/name_f] has two different options that could get annoying to correct, also could be shortened to [name_u]Clare[/name_u] if pronounced Clare-uh, which may or may not bother you if you don’t like nicknames
Potential other options (Sorry for repeats):
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]
[name_f]Lina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] / [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (has the same meaning as Nora)
I basically like all the names you suggested. I think between [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] maybe the name [name_f]Daria[/name_f] is a good compromise and [name_f]Daria[/name_f] [name_u]Rynn[/name_u] or [name_f]Daria[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] could work and still be honor names for your relatives.
[name_f]Katia[/name_f] and [name_u]Joni[/name_u] might add to your style list.
Names like [name_f]Nora[/name_f]: [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Nadia[/name_f], [name_f]Nedra[/name_f], [name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Nomi[/name_f], [name_f]Nella[/name_f], [name_f]Aura[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f]
The first name my mind went to was [name_f]Kiara[/name_f], meaning “light, clear; little dark one; cockatoo; first ray of sun.” I think [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] or [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would be a beautiful name. Good luck!!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would be lovely! But since you’re not sure about honoring one over the other, here are some other suggestions:
Responding to an old thread here but just realized I never updated as I delivered her two days after I posted but we ended up naming her [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]! She was 2lbs 12oz and spent 55 days in the NICU. Her name suits her tiny sweet self perfectly.
