I love the names on my list, but all of them are either nixed by DH or just aren’t perfect in other ways. I have two kids: [name_m]Boston[/name_m] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. Here are the boy names I like and why they’re not THE name.
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] ([name_u]Beck[/name_u])- This is our front runner, but it starts with a B like [name_m]Boston[/name_m], and the growing popularity concerns me (Yes, [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is more popular, but DH picked it and loved it).
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] ([name_m]Mac[/name_m])- I don’t like that the pronounciation is slightly questionable. I’ve always told myself that I would never do that to my kids.
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u] - My husband loves this - I’m hesitant. People think of sunglasses and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]. Neither of which I really like associated with my little boy.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (Row)- Our last name is similar to Waller, so this one may be hard to say. I also don’t want another two-syllable ending in -n name, but we both still like this one.
[name_m]Holden[/name_m] - Two syllable ends in -n problem, and it’s a little soft sounding next to [name_m]Boston[/name_m] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u].
[name_m]Crew[/name_m] - Last name issue again - and no nickname.
[name_m]Arrow[/name_m] (Row)- Last name again - This one is new to the list. I haven’t even asked DH what he thinks of it.
[name_m]Kip[/name_m] - We call [name_u]Piper[/name_u] “[name_m]Pip[/name_m]” a lot, and that would be too confusing.
Names DH has nixed, but I love too much to take off the list: [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Penn[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], and [name_m]Cove[/name_m] ([name_m]Cove[/name_m] is a new addition to the list - I’m still deciding if I like it).
Can anyone suggest some fresh material? I’ve noticed DH tends to only like two syllable names, and we both like them to have “pet-name” type nicknames. [name_m]Boston[/name_m] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] are Bos and [name_m]Pip[/name_m] about 60% of the time. Oh, and a girl would be [name_m]Lennox[/name_m] (nickname [name_f]Leni[/name_f]/[name_u]Lex[/name_u]).
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Boston[/name_m] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u]! I think my faves from your list are [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], and [name_m]Holden[/name_m].
Thank you! DH likes [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], and it used to be on the list. I really need to look at it again. I do like the option of [name_m]Fin[/name_m] that goes with it. Oh, and I also kind of like [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], but it’s very [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] the teenage which to me (even when [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] is not… lol!)
I really like Kipling, but it presents the problem of being awfully close to [name_m]Pip[/name_m]. [name_m]Caledon[/name_m] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] are cool too. [name_m]Lando[/name_m] intrigues me. It seems like my style - I always thought of it as a nickname for [name_m]Landon[/name_m], so it kind of looks incomplete to me, but it IS really, really great.
Oh, and I also kind of like [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], but it’s very [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] the teenage which to me (even when [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] is not… lol!)
