DH and I are expecting our first this [name_f]October[/name_f], and are trying to figure out our boy and girl names before we find out the gender in 2 months.
For a girl, we both like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], but can’t seem to agree on a middle name. I wanted to honor our mothers by using their first names as two middles, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but DH HATES the idea of a double middle. He thinks we should use one or the other, but I don’t want to deal with the possibility of this being our only girl (if it even is a girl!) and not being able to use the other mother’s name on a future child. Neither of them would ever say it out loud, but I know feelings would be hurt, at least at first.
So I either need advice for convincing DH to go with the double middle, or I need suggestions for a middle name! I would prefer more or less than 2 syllables, as both the first and last (in my username) have 2 and I don’t like the 2-2-2 flow. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
It’s tough dealing with “fairness” when using family names. If you have more then 1 child, perhaps plan to use a name from the other side of the family, instead of using 2 middles for one. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] go well with [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. So either is a great choice. [name_f]My[/name_f] other suggestion is to not use the exact same name- for example [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I would avoid using family names if it is going to cause problems. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] isn’t really my style, but here are some middle name suggestions:
Have you considered putting the 2 names together? [name_f]My[/name_f] mom did this to get my first name. [name_f]Lori[/name_f]+[name_u]Darren[/name_u]=[name_u]Loren[/name_u].
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]+[name_f]Jane[/name_f]=
[name_f]Mar[/name_f]ne (sounds like [name_f]Marney[/name_f])
[name_u]Jan[/name_u]et
Jaret (sounds like [name_m]Jarret[/name_m])
[name_f]Mar[/name_f]yjane
[name_f]Mar[/name_f]an (sounds like [name_f]Mare[/name_f]-En)
