Need Suggestions! I'm picky, and nothing goes with last name.

Hello!

I desperately need some suggestions for a baby girl’s name. I feel like NOTHING goes with our last name. There seems to be something wrong with every name I like.

Criteria:

Has to go with sibling name [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]. I love biblical names. Was thinking [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], but it’s way too common for my taste, and I strongly dislike the nickname [name_u]Abby[/name_u]. I also like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], and [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] (spelled this way). However, I feel like none of them go with our last name, which starts with ‘L’ and ends with “uh” (pronounced lar-uh). I don’t like the alliteration of an ‘L’ first name, such as [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], or [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] because they have the exact same “uh” sound at the end as our last name. It almost sounds like they rhyme.

I have also always adored the name [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but can’t stand the nickname [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] (or [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]). Plus, I feel like it goes completely away from the biblical names I love, and doesn’t match [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] very well. Also, I could never decide on the spelling of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]. I would want it to be pronounced like [name_f]MadeLYNN[/name_f], but hate this spelling.

Ahhh! Suggestions please! Am I completely overthinking this??? Need some simple, classic girls names that aren’t too common. Biblical names preferred but not required. Pretty much can’t start with ‘L’ or end in ‘A’.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] is a great name!

I think you should forget [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] if you hate [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you don’t call her that, her friends might.

Have you thought of [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]? I know [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] were siblings in the Bible, but I think it’s a non issue. You can always just tell people that they were the names you liked the most.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so it’s sort of Biblical. Plus, it means pledged to God which is really nice.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. Quite uncommon and I think this sounds fine with your last name.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]. [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is similar to [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], so the Biblical tie isn’t huge. But it means the Lords birthday.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_f]Faith[/name_f]

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]. [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is popular, but often forgotten as a biblical name.

Good luck!

These are some fantastic ideas! I ESPECIALLY love Elise. What a great meaning. I’d never considered that name before. I do like Natalie too. Maybe Natalie Elise? I think it’s pretty! Or does the ‘e’ at the end of Natalie run together with the ‘e’ at the beginning of Elise?

I like Miriam but hubby doesn’t. Same thing with Susannah. Too bad, because Suzanne is a family name…

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/line/lyn

I agree that [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] are a bit much with your last name. [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f], however, I think is fine: there’s a little assonance with the repeating -a ending, but because [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] is 3 syllables and doesn’t share other sounds with L-a (your last name), I don’t think it’s bad.

[name_u]Abby[/name_u] is probably unavoidable with [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], so I’d cross that off if you really hate it.

You seem to really love [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/ine/yn, and although it isn’t biblical like [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], I don’t think that’s a big deal. It doesn’t sound weird with [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]- they’re both traditional, fairly popular names. It’s not a mismatch like say, [name_f]Jazmyn[/name_f] would be. And I don’t think sibling matching is that important. As for spelling, [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is the most popular and would be the least confusing for the pronunciation you want. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] would probably cause the most spelling problems, but I think it’s the most graceful. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] may be the best because it splits the difference: it’s a well-known spelling (not as easy as the -lyn spelling, but not as hard as -eine) and it retains the grace of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].

Some other names (sorry for repeats):
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]

[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] does run into itself a little bit, but the cadence is spot on. If you love that combo I’d say go for it. You don’t often say the middle name anyway.

[name_f]Bethesda[/name_f] or Raziel

[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] Lar-uh is lovely.
If you adore [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] though but hate [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] and all the different spellings, what about [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]?..same sounds, different nn, set spelling.
Good luck.

[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is lovely; I’m glad I could help!
I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] would be beautiful if your husband could come around.

Have you considered [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]? It’s in the Bible (briefly mentioned in Romans 16:1). It also goes well with [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], and is a sweet and classic name, but not too popular (it was #287 according to Social Security in 2015, so it doesn’t even crack the top 100).

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] Lar-uh would be a really sweet name, and you wouldn’t have to worry about the [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] nickname because it would be in the middle spot (I too love the name [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], and only like the -lynn pronunciation and -leine spelling!)

Other middle names with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
