Need your help, Genevieve or Matilda?

Hey berries!

I’d appreciate your help choosing a name. We’re expecting a baby girl later this year and my husband and I are having trouble deciding.

Our top two names are [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I’m a nickname person – our 2 year old son has a longer name with a short nn. We were thinking “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Mae[/name_f]” would be the choices for each name.

I’d love to hear any pros and cons you can think of, or just which you like better! Basically anything to help us decide.

Both names have family history for us, which I like. I’m open to other suggestions too. We tend to like more classic, feminine names that are known but not too popular. Also, the name has to work in [name_m]French[/name_m] since my husband is bilingual and there’s a good chance will live abroad in [name_f]France[/name_f] during our kids’ childhoods.

Thanks!!!

I really like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. It flows well, is unique but classic and the nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is adorable.
I would pick [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] over [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] sounds like an old lady name to me and I’m not a fan of the name [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
Which one flows best with your sons name? That can kinda be a factor to help you decide.

I adore [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], so spunky!

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Are you sounding the nickname like evey similar to every?

I dont like the nn mae for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

I like both but prefer [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], although I would rather see [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as the nickname. As a nn for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] I would suggest [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tillie[/name_f].

We’d pronounce [name_f]Evie[/name_f] like E-vee not ehh-vie

A hard choice as both are lovely but I think I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]!

I really love both [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] so it’s a tough one! Does one sound better with the surname? [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is very popular around me so that would make me lean towards [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].

Both names are lovely, but I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

I really love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], so spunky and lovely

Honestly I like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] because you can get Genilou out of it.
