Need your help Momma’s - Middle Name

I “think” we have finally landed on the first name Aliyah for a girl but need middle name help. My favorite name, sound/flow wise is Aliyah Marie, however I am trying to find a middle name to nickname her Lexi. Two favorite first names were Aliyah & Alexis, however Alexis as a middle name just doesn’t sound right for Aliyah. Her Dad’s name is Alex so trying to honor his name & also always loved Alexis/Lexie so still trying to make it work. I dont care for Alexandria/Alexandra to fit Aliyah. I’ve thought of Aliyah Lexi-Marie & Aliyah Lexiana but idk if it’s too much. It seems a bit much but trying to get to nn Lexi. The double middle names seems a bit much & I prefer the simplicity of Aliyah Marie but also that doesn’t get me to nn options I’m not the biggest fan of common middle names & typically wouldn’t chose Marie but I think Aliyah Marie flows perfectly,

I also love the thought of the nick name Bella or Lia-Bella and recently came up with Aliyah Bella-Marie. I am loving this but not sure if it’s just me. Thoughts? Does it flow/look well? Also kinda like Aliyah Arabella, thoughts? Is it too much?
ATP I think my brain is overloaded with ideas & I just want to find the perfect name but I’m overthinking.

Tell me your favorites & any suggestions

Aliyah Lexi-Marie
Aliyah Lexiana
Aliyah Lexiana-Marie
Aliyah Marie
Aliyah Arabella
Aliyah Bella-Marie
Aliyah Selena (just another option bc I love Selena name)
Aliyah Lexi-Bella
Aliyah Bexley
Aliyah Lexley
Aliyah Lexine (not crazy abt last 3 options but gets me to nn Lexi)

Please give me your honest opinions & any other suggestions. My goal is to name her a middle name to where I can nn her Lexi. Again i also love bella. Also with nicknames what’s your thoughts on the child being nicknamed a name that’s not their legal name? Like call her Lexi just bc her dad is Alex and it honors him or call her Bella just as an added name like Lia-Bella or just as in bella meaning beautiful. I need your expertise mommas! I have always wanted a little girl so it’s really a dream come true so I just want the perfect name but thinking I may overthink and overdo it rather than stay simple & classy. Need your help!

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] is so pretty! Here are some ideas to get to the nickname Lexi…

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_m]Lexington[/name_m]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_m]Lennox[/name_m]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Roxie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_m]Onyx[/name_m]

Really any middle name with an X in it would work!

This dilemma has me stumped! The only other MN’s I can suggest are:
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Rexana[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Rexanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Calixta[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Xela[/name_f] (spelled [name_m]Alex[/name_m] backwards and found this listed as a short form of Ánxela, I’m unsure how it would be pronounced)

I think if it was me I would go for a middle I love and call my daughter [name_f]Lexi[/name_f], even if that middle does not make sense as a longer form of [name_f]Lexi[/name_f]. She’s Alex’s daughter and I think that’s reason enough because you feel so strongly about it.

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] Lexi-Marie is lovely - flows well and is pretty

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is my next pick - sweet and flows well

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is sweet and elegant.

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is sleek and pretty.

I know plenty of kids/people with nicknames that are unexpected and not related (or obviously linked) to their first name. It works, but if it was a nickname chosen by the parents, I’d wonder why it wasn’t just chosen as a first name, if that makes sense? But that’s just me!

I wonder if Lexi-Marie [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] could work?

Other middle name ideas:

[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] (Lexi)
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] (Lexi or Bella)
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] (Lexi)
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] (Lexi)

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are:
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] Lexiana- Lexiana is perfect in the middle spot!
[name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] Marie-so simple and sleek

I would prefer to use a nickname that makes sense, so using [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] without any name (first or middle) would be a little strange, but I’ve seen things like that before! I would probably use Lexiana as a middle name to get the nickname [name_f]Lexi[/name_f].

Thank you for your suggestion. So you are also of the opinion that nn [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] is still okay even if it isnt her legal name?

Yes

It’s so hard, putting so much on one name (as most of us do on here!).

I like, for Lexi:

Aliyah Lexi (lovely and an obv nod to her Dad)
Aliyah Lexi-Marie (delightful!!)
Aliyah Xanthe (so pretty!)
Aliyah Maxine (super sophisticated/ chic)

And I like the suggestion of Aliyah Bellatrix to get you to Lexi and Belle but I find this name a little “stage name” and wouldn’t use

If you definitely want Lexi:

Lexi Marie (classic/chic and straightforward)
Lexi-Marie Aliyah (I really like Lexi-Marie as a first)
Lexi Maribel (smoosh of Marie & Belle)
Alexie Marie (or Lexi Marie) - tailored & lovely
Alexie Belle (or Lexi Belle) - as above

If you’re going to be OK with Lexi being used at home but possibly not in all contexts (and for some, the option of Belle):

Aliyah Marie (also very pretty, Amy would be a sweet nn too)
Aliyah Bellerose
Aliyah Bluebelle
Aliyah Mabel
Aliyah Maribel
Aliyah Mary-Belle
Aliyah Bella-Marie

I love the name Arabella but I don’t think it flows well after Aliyah with all the A’s running into each other. If you love Arabella, I would use Arabella Marie which is a stunning name, even Arabella Lexi-Marie nn Lexi-Belle.

Let us know if any hit the mark! :sparkles:

Edit: Oh, and what pronunciation of Aliyah are you going for as that also affects flow!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely take all into consideration. [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] pronounced Uh-Lee-uh

I think some say Uh-LEE-uh and some say AAH-lia.

Anyway, I forgot to add: Lexiana [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - that should be on the “Def Lexi” (second) list.

I would make these three lists (Lexi as a nickname - not a first name but where [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] makes sense with middle name), [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] as a def nickname because [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] in first name, and then no [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] in either first or second (so [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] may or may not stick, and maybe another nn more likely/desirable). Then select a couple of stars from each list, and then chill, knowing you have your top 6.

Thank you

Aliyah Alexandra sounds perfect imo
I like the alliteration, the flow & it gets you Lexi

But if you really dislike it then Lexiana is my next pick

At this point, you’re probably looking to narrow things down more, buuut… :smirk:

The name [name_m]Alex[/name_m] means “defender” and there are a bunch of name options with the same meaning: Names That Mean Protector, Defender, or Guardian - All Names | Nameberry You could use any name with the meaning “defender” as a tribute to your husband [name_m]Alex[/name_m]. Of course, that probably won’t give you the nickname [name_f]Lexi[/name_f].

Honestly, I think [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Lexi[/name_f] is great. I once knew a girl named [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] who always went by [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. It’s definitely not unheard of.
