We are hoping for a second child, and the only name I am really excited about and in love with is [name_m]Tigris[/name_m], for a boy more than for a girl. I would love it if you have some suggestions for me for more names in a similar vein!
What I love about [name_m]Tigris[/name_m] is that it sounds ethereal, ancient and modern, all at the same time. My association is the river [name_m]Tigris[/name_m] in the ancient land of Mesopotamia, where much of our Western culture comes from.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] better, you can pronounce the name to sound similar to [name_m]Tiger[/name_m], which I love, although I like both pronounciations - TIE-gris as well as TEE-gris.
I’m currently thinking of [name_m]Tigris[/name_m] as a middle name for a boy name, and would love suggestions that are similar somehow, both girl and boy names.
Other favorites right now that I’m happy with but not totally excited about are
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] (family name.)
I like uncommon names with ancient roots (the latter not a requirement though.)
Girl names shouldn’t be frilly or cute.
For boys, I like names ending in -is or -as, but not a requirement.
Yeah well, it’s a latin name for tiger. I actually named a white tiger stuffed animal [name_m]Tigris[/name_m], pronounced TEE-gris, taken from its latin name, Panthera tigris tigris. I agree that it’ll make a cool middle for a boy.
I’ve been warming up to [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] lately. [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is on my boys list too.
For the girls, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is good (have that one in our family too, so could double as an honor name.)
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f] is great and I have family there, so really liking that one!
And I like [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]. It doesn’t feel exactly like my style (too feminine- I usually stay away from girls names ending in -a,) but this one somehow has stayed on the list.
