my husband’s name is [name]Jason[/name] and we’d like to carry on a family name (his is the only one that is even close to acceptable) but I don’t want two [name]Jason[/name]'s in the house. We both like [name]Asher[/name]. We are considering naming our son “[name]Jason[/name] [name]Asher[/name]” and he would just use his middle name, [name]Asher[/name].
Any thoughts? If not, maybe a different traditional middle name so we could use [name]Asher[/name] as a first name?
I think [name]Jason[/name] [name]Asher[/name] sounds great together. And, I love the family connection for [name]Jason[/name]. I’d say, go for it.
I love [name]Asher[/name]. What about [name]Asher[/name] [name]Jason[/name]? If you’re going to call him that anyway, why not use it as the first name? [name]Asher[/name] is SUCH a great choice.
I agree with dindlee. I think [name]Jason[/name] [name]Asher[/name] sounds fine, but I’ve worked with several kids who go exclusively by their middle names and every one of them has told me that it bothers them and they’ll probably start going by their first when their older. I’m against naming your kid something if your just going to call them something else.
[name]Asher[/name] [name]Jason[/name] sounds very cool and [name]Jason[/name] is a traditional name and still keeps the family ties that you’re looking for.
I agree with @dindlee and @dantea. [name]Jason[/name] [name]Asher[/name] is fine, a strong, great name, but I think it works better on so many levels to just use [name]Asher[/name] [name]Jason[/name].
I absolutely love [name]Asher[/name], btw. 
I’ll ditto everyone else and add that with [name]Asher[/name] [name]Jason[/name] you can use AJ if you want. To some people that’s probably a drawback but to me more nickname options is a plus!

I like the name, [name]Jason[/name]. And I don’t like [name]Asher[/name] as a first but I really like it fine as a middle :). Can’t go wrong with a family tradition!
You guys are awesome!! I really appreciate the feedback. I wasn’t sure if [name]Asher[/name] [name]Jason[/name] sounded ok, but I think you all have reassured me that it does. Hubby suggested it last night (as well as the nn “AJ”!!) and I realized that I liked it just as much. Thanks to all - now if I can get hubby to authorize monogramming, I think we’ve got a name!!!
