Need your thoughts/opinions/suggestions for a story!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been away for a while and its nice to be back!

Well right now I’m working on a story that’s set in the late 1950’s and I’m stuck on some character names and I’m looking for some help :slight_smile:

The main character is a 10 year old boy who for the first parts of the story goes on adventures with his friends before the main events happen. I’m satisfied with the last name, [name]Hawthorne[/name], but can’t settle on a first.

At first I had [name]Johnny[/name], then I moved to [name]Oliver[/name] but felt that didn’t fit the character or time period. So I moved to [name]Ralphie[/name] but now I’m questioning that too

Also considering classics like [name]William[/name]/[name]Billy[/name], [name]Michael[/name]/[name]Mikey[/name], [name]Timothy[/name]/[name]Timmy[/name] because I want a nickname

I think that for an adventurous ten-year-old boy it is a good idea to go with a name that can be shortened with a nickname, as you have stated. However, because names like [name]John[/name]/[name]Johnny[/name] and [name]William[/name]/[name]Billy[/name] were so common that you may want to try something more like [name]Franklin[/name]/[name]Frankie[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name]/[name]Nick[/name], [name]Rick[/name]/[name]Ricky[/name], or [name]Benjamin[/name]/[name]Ben[/name].
