We tend to like names that others classify as guilty pleasure names and my husband loves ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] names too.

[name_m]Jove[/name_m] is my favorite [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Mythology name. Actually it’s my favorite boys name of all. Lots of good ones in this thread though, like [name_u]Cato[/name_u] and Aslan.
Pretty much all the names I thought of have been mentioned but I also love [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] and not that it’s really usable but [name_m]Herakles[/name_m] (original form of [name_m]Hercules[/name_m])!

Many of my suggestions have already been made, but I’ll add some more. Many of these are early mediaeval (rather than ancient), and few are [name_m]Roman[/name_m]/Latin. There’s a couple of nature names, too. Some are fanciful, others (e.g. the Celtic names) are perfectly normal names but “guilty pleasures” for me because they don’t reflect my heritage. An asterisk (* ) indicates that another form of the name has already been suggested. I’ve tried to avoid repeats - sorry if any slipped through.
Anaximander is my favourite in this category. It’s the name of a philosopher who was also influential in the formation of science. It doesn’t even feel like it’s too out of left field to me.
