DH and I are struggling to find any boys’ names that we both love. [name]Baby[/name] #1 due next year.
He likes [name]William[/name]. Maybe [name]Thomas[/name]. And not much else at this stage.
I like something with a bit more character, and less common… some current favourites: [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], maybe [name]Felix[/name], [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name]. Some family names in the mix / under consideration as first and/or middle names - [name]Arthur[/name] (nn ‘[name]Ari[/name]’), [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Keith[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Alan[/name], [name]Edwin[/name].
That’s actually hilarious, my SO’s favourite is [name]William[/name] and mine is [name]Sebastian[/name]. What’s working for me is bringing it up occasionally and he seems to be liking it more and more Also! I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie The Switch, but there’s the cutest little [name]Sebastian[/name] in that movie. My taste is kind of all over, but I’ll suggest to you some of my favourites…
now for some more classic/traditional… and some randoms
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Orson[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Micah[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Charles[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Caspian[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Jacob[/name]
[name]William[/name]- I meet so many little [name]Williams[/name] & Liams these days. I do think it’s a good name though & could be made more distinctive with a different nickname. You never meet boys called [name]Bill[/name].
[name]Thomas[/name]- I really love this name. A really handsome classic.
[name]Sebastian[/name] this name is nice, but a mouthful. The only one I ever knew went by nickname Spaz in grade school! It wasn’t in a teasing or mean way but that kind of ruined it for me!
[name]Elliot[/name] very nice & soft sounding.
[name]Jasper[/name] this is ok. I tend to prefer more classic names on boys. I have known dogs called [name]Jasper[/name].
[name]Felix[/name] this is nice. Same category as [name]Elliot[/name] in my mind. Softer, not classic but not uncommon
[name]Henry[/name] this is similar to [name]William[/name] to me. I hear it everywhere but still manage to love it! I love nn [name]Hank[/name] for this.
[name]Theodore[/name] I think this is a classic but feels too soft & stuffy for me.
[name]Arthur[/name] I love this & think it mixes well with [name]Thomas[/name] or [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Alexander[/name] I really love [name]Alexander[/name]! It really works with all of your names.
[name]Frederick[/name] I like this! [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] is awesome. I think [name]Frederick[/name] is a really strong/intense name so it works well with softer choices like [name]Elliot[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name].
[name]Keith[/name] nms
[name]David[/name] nms
[name]Peter[/name] I am a big fan of [name]Peter[/name]! So dashing!
[name]Alan[/name] This is nice. It had a soft sound. [name]Henry[/name] [name]Alan[/name] is nice, [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Alan[/name] is nice, [name]Alan[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]…
[name]Edwin[/name]- this is nice for the middle.
[name]Peter[/name] & [name]Thomas[/name] are my favorite but if character is what you’re after [name]Arthur[/name] & [name]Frederick[/name] have that!
[name]Do[/name] you think this generation is ready for ‘[name]Arthur[/name]’ or is it still a bit old? I like [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Frederick[/name]… it’s growing on me; not sure if I’m brave enough. And [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] - I had never considered it a dog’s name though. Have considered [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Peter[/name]. For interest, what mn would you put with [name]Elliot[/name]?
Thanks also for the feedback on [name]Alan[/name] - we haven’t considered it as much as some of the other family names, but some of those combinations are quite nice.
I also don’t mind [name]Miles[/name], but I seem to prefer a couple of syllables in the first name with our last name. Although, I like the sound of [name]Jude[/name] [name]Everett[/name], but I know there’s no way that’ll get through.
[name]Arthur[/name] would be an excellent choice. It isn’t too old at all. [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] is quite distinguished and handsome.
Thank you. Definite food for thought!! I like the grandfather names as middle names.
[name]Just[/name] in addition, if we were to choose _____ [name]Peter[/name] and _____ [name]William[/name] as two potential middle names, what would you suggest as first names? Our surname is two syllables R-n.
Seems like DH is never going to come around to the Vintage Chic side. he’s vetoed everything.
Seeking some more traditional and classic options that might fit…
[name]Isaac[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name] (yes, I think we are ready for it) [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Caspian[/name] (a combo I considered) are both great combos.
I also like [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Miles[/name] or [name]Miles[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]
The only other query is [name]Peter[/name] is a part of both of our father’s names - I think it would be nice if we include it…
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Thomas[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Peter[/name] R-n is too much?
DH would prefer to leave it just one middle name, and thinks [name]William[/name] sounds nicer than [name]Peter[/name] with [name]Thomas[/name], which I agree with.
[name]Just[/name] any thoughts on the double-barrelled middle name… Thanks. You are all so wonderfully helpful
