So I am having a baby girl here in 12 weeks. [name_f]My[/name_f] partner tends to like more playful, not extremely girly names. He likes [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] a lot but it’s quite trendy here in the US and I am not in love with it. A name we both like is [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] - I think it’s sweet, vintage, spunky, and just such a cute name. I think it would age well but partner has concerns. He wants [name_u]Rae[/name_u] as the middle name. I am thinking of having two middle names - [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] _____ [name_u]Rae[/name_u] . [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]? Brothers name is [name_m]Sylas[/name_m] [name_m]Wayne[/name_m]. Would love some input. Thx all
I love [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a name in its own right, it’s on my list. Not so keen on [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] as [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] the elephant puts me off. I think either one or two middles would work.

what are your partner’s concerns about? if they’re about whether it would age well or not, you could compromise by having nellie as a nickname? maybe nell “nellie”, helena “nellie”, elinor “nellie”, noelle “nellie” etc!
nellie rae is very spunky! if you want a second middle name go for it, but i don’t like the sound of nellie luna rae, i think because of the -lee loo- soud of neLLIE and LUna. nellie rae luna would be cute though!

He’s tough, he doesn’t like traditional names like [name_f]Elenor[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or anything even remotely like that haha

[name_f]My[/name_f] great-aunt is Nellie-on-the-birth-certificate, and has been wearing it well for 80+ years! She personally isn’t a fan of her name (her siblings had more standard, biblical type names and she preferred that style), but I love it and think it suits her perfectly. It’s one of my sister’s middle names, and she briefly tried to go by that instead of her first name (though it unfortunately never stuck).
I think [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] with the nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is very sweet! I’m not usually keen on nickname-names, but [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] feels sturdy enough to stand on it’s own to me for some reason.
