I’m a few weeks off popping out my third little cherub (have not found out gender). We have an armful of boys names we love but are struggling with girls names. I’m not so intent on sticking to a style, more wanting to find names that suit our current children’s’. We have a [name_u]Lior[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and I’d love a name that would almost be like a bridge between the two. This time round I’d like to go for something a little more accessible, but still stick out of the super popular. These are a few girls names we’ve liked, but we desperately want to fall in love:
I’m preferring ‘o’ or ‘ie’ endings, just because I think they flow better with our existing kids names. To make it even more fun, our last name is bumbly-English esque, not too dissimilar to ‘Kibble’
Please please please offer some suggestions, I’ll be forever grateful.
I think [name_f]Joni[/name_f] or [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Nella[/name_f] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] would be best names with [name_f]Elke[/name_f] and [name_u]Lior[/name_u].
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is pretty but seems out of place with your other names. Too common maybe. And [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] doesn’t seem to fit in with [name_f]Elke[/name_f]. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is nice. And since [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is early colonial maybe you’d consider [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f]. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f]. If you like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] then maybe you’d like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. And [name_f]Cora[/name_f] could be the nn.
Other names to consider:
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Dovie[/name_f]
Theadocia- since you like [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
And [name_f]Docia[/name_f] is cute too.
[name_u]Felice[/name_u]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u]
Honestly, I think you aren’t falling in love because you have strayed from the type of names you love. Not sure I’m on the right track here, but how about:
I agree (well, sort of!) we’ve not really had a type, which is half our problem. So far we’ve just kind of gone with names that have tickled our fancy. Now number 3 is here, my dreams of a ‘bridge the gap’ name is proving more difficult than I thought! I do love [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but out last name ends in s and it’s a bit too much. Also have a soft spot for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], but it’s too popular here (Australia). I appreciate the suggestions
I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and I think it sounds just fine with your other children’s names. Another poster suggested [name_f]Sabine[/name_f], which is also very nice.
I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] with your children’s names. And the suggestions of [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f].
[name_u]Lior[/name_u], [name_f]Elke[/name_f] and [name_f]Joni[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f] work best in my view. I also like the slightly tweaked suggestion of [name_f]Nella[/name_f], as well as pretty much all of @boyandgirl’s suggestions.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] feel too plain/vintage, [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] and [name_m]Benny[/name_m] feel too cute/nicknamey, and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] feels too modern.
From the list I feel that [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] works best, but it does seem a little too nicknamey next to [name_u]Lior[/name_u] and [name_f]Elke[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] best from your list. Based on what you’ve said, I’d pick an exotic or underused vintage name so that it still matches your sibset. What about:
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f]
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tierra[/name_f]
[name_f]Tilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
