We are having a bit of trouble deciding on a name for a little girl. Our last name is [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] and we like it with most names that start with a vowel. However, some are sounding like a bit too much.
We both love the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but are nervous about it being too popular/not having a nice ring with our last name.
We both like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and it is a family name but again it’s so popular and may be a bit too short
Husband loves [name_f]Annie[/name_f] but I said it would have to be a nn. Also I’m afraid Annnie [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] sounds a bit sing-songy. An option would be using [name_f]Anne[/name_f] as a middle name as it’s in his family already. Thrown around [name_f]Annabell[/name_f] but it’s not my favorite
Husband LOVES [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] but I’m afraid it sounds too much like a Disney princess. He also loves [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Lily[/name_f] but I’m afraid it’s too popular.
The name that we both think sounds great is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]. I really liked [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] for a while and [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] is a middle name but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] isn’t sounding as good recently.
What do you guys think about these names? For inspiration here are some others we’ve considered
I think you have a lot of good options. My favorites from your list:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (I don’t think A/A is too much since they’re slightly different sounds)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
Some other options to consider are [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_u]Julianne[/name_u], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
From your list my favorites with your last name are [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
Instead of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], what about [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]? It sounds a bit fresher/spunkier and I think it sounds better with your last name.
These are my favorites in order…
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] sounds really cute. If you don’t love [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], what about another [name_f]Ann[/name_f]- name, like [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]? If you went with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], you could use a less princess-y nickname like [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. I do think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] sounds good with [name_u]Alcott[/name_u], but if popularity concerns you, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are all pretty popular. But you and your husband both think it sounds great (and it does), so maybe that’s the right name? The great thing about [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is that there are so many nickname options that you can use to shorten it and differentiate your daughter. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u], [name_f]Libby[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] all sound really cute.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] is cute. What about [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] would be cute.
I’m biased of course, but I really do think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] sounds great. Perfect flow [name_f]IMO[/name_f], and loads of nickname possibilities.
My daughter is 14 months old and we’ve yet to meet another little [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but we have met several Charlottes.
My runner up choice would be [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]. Good luck!
