Nessa Rose

So I recently had a baby and named her [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. I knew about the character in Wicked, Nessarose, but I didn’t think too many people would make the connection. We call our baby [name]Nessa[/name] most of the time, and so many close friends and family have asked me if I named her [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] because of Wicked! I didn’t, but I think Wicked is really great, and I really like the connection. So now, I feel like I want to start calling her [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] instead of just [name]Nessa[/name], but I’m not sure how I feel about double names. Any input? If you heard someone call a baby [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name], would you think it’s great or would it make you cringe? Thanks!

No responses? :frowning: just to clarify, I am not asking for advice on an existing baby name. I’m trying to get nickname advice. I won’t be offended either way. It’s only a nickname. Thank you.

It definitely wouldn’t make me cringe, and I would tend toward thinking it’s great. I have never seen Wicked, but I am aware of Nessarose being a character from the story. If the obvious pop culture reference is something you enjoy, I’d say go for it. Outside of the Wicked association, I think [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] has a beautiful sound. To me it looks like it would be the name of a fine chocolate company or something else fancy and sweet. I like it.

I’ve never seen Wicked and don’t know anything about it, so I wouldn’t think it was great, nor would I cringe.
It’s just a nickname, if you want to call her [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name], go right ahead. I don’t think it matters. Some people will think of the Wicked connection, and other people won’t. Her name is [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name], so “[name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name]” makes perfect sense as a nickname regardless of a character association.

I [name]LOVE[/name] Wicked, and I think that [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a pretty cute nickname besides! I’m not a fan of double names (or using [name]Rose[/name] as a middle–just too overused for my tastes!) but this one really strikes my fancy!

I’ve never seen Wicked, but I think [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] sounds cute. I also think [name]Nessa[/name] is cute by itself.

[name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is cute! I like the connection, personally and it’s a beautiful name.

My best friend is named [name]Vanessa[/name], and when we were roommates is college, I had a ton of nicknames for her - one of which was [name]Nessa[/name] (I also somehow began calling her [name]Nellie[/name] and that one really stuck). But, anyway, I love love the nickname [name]Nessa[/name] and prefer it alone. That said, I also dont generally like double names and have never seen Wicked. [name]Hope[/name] this helps.

I think [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is really cute! I am huge fan of Wicked and might think that you named her for the character, but if that does not bother you then I would definitely go for it.

I think it’s sweet, it’s a nickname, anything goes really. I don’t know the character in Wicked though. [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is so pretty.

[name]Love[/name] the names in your signature btw. :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Love[/name] it. Fans of wicked will no doubt ask about it, but it is lovely!

[name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a very sweet nickname and although I [name]LOVE[/name] Wicked it did not really enter my head until you suggested it.
You may want to know that although we are positioned to feel slightly simpathetic for her because of her disability, she is actually not a very nice character and she eventually becomes the Wicked Witch of the [name]East[/name] and [name]Dorothy[/name] lands her house on top of her…

I would prefer just [name]Nessa[/name] (positively lovely) to [name]Nessa[/name] [name]Rose[/name]…if I heard that double name, I would assume that she was named for Wicked. [name]Even[/name] though I love the musical/book, Nessarose isn’t exactly the nicest character [name]IMO[/name].
