Could [name_f]Neta[/name_f] (netta) [name_f]Millie[/name_f] go by [name_u]Marti[/name_u]? I’m trying to honor my grandfather who was [name_m]Martin[/name_m] and went by [name_u]Marty[/name_u]. [name_f]Neta[/name_f] has no obvious nicknames so trying to be creative as well!
I’ve known women who were just named [name_u]Marti[/name_u]. It can also be a nickname for [name_f]Martina[/name_f] or [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a [name_f]Neta[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] to go by [name_u]Marti[/name_u] though. It sounds spunky. Many people have nicknames that aren’t super obvious, so why not.
I don’t think it works, sorry. [name_u]Marti[/name_u] is adorable, I had a friend who’s mom was just [name_u]Marti[/name_u], and she seemed to get on ok with it as a full first name
I think that [name_f]Neta[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] “[name_u]Marti[/name_u]” is too much of stretch, mainly because [name_f]Neta[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] lacks an “r” sound. [name_u]Marti[/name_u] could be short for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], Marlette, [name_f]Marta[/name_f], or probably any other form of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I think it works great! TBH there’s a ton of people who are called nicknames that aren’t related to their name at all, so I think the fact that most of the letters are there makes it more than okay.
[name_u]Marti[/name_u] is great as a first name, but she could also be [name_f]Marta[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], and basically any other name that starts with [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-.
