… an extensive spreadsheet, and few posts here, we went into the hospital on [name_f]May[/name_f] 8 with 4 name possibilities. We looked at her for 3 days and came to the conclusion that the name that best fit her is…
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] fit all our criteria in terms of being a name that works well for a little girl or adult, isn’t necessarily in or out of style, looks good on a resume someday no matter what she chooses to do, pronounced the same in multiple countries, and isn’t common but not so unusual that nobody has ever heard it. (It also pays tribute to [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f]… a friend of ours named their daughter [name_f]Maya[/name_f], so that wasn’t an option… but [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f]'s real name was [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], and we went with a derivative of that.)
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is one of two middle names my grandmother has… all the girls in our family got the other middle name, so changing up the tradition while still keeping my grandmother in mind.
Weirdly I never would’ve expected to choose that name for my daughter if you’d asked me months ago. But she is definitely, definitively a [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and we love her to pieces.
