[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there,
We are trying to decide on our new baby girl’s name.
We have narrowed it down to a few “E” names.
#1 [name_f]Enna[/name_f] (my grandmother’s name was [name_f]Enna[/name_f], so this would have sentimental pull and I like the simplicity of it…). If we went with this one we would go with [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as the middle name #2 [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (we would pronounce it [name_f]Emme[/name_f]-leen ([name_f]Emme[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f] as shortened forms) #3 [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] ([name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] as shortened forms) #4 [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (my husband isn’t so hot on this one but I like that you could go with [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Noor[/name_f] but I realize [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is quite popular and don’t necessarily want to go the popular route)
I adore [name_f]Enna[/name_f], and the family connection is great! I agree that the simplicity and rarity of [name_f]Enna[/name_f] makes it a really lovely choice
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] would be my second choice. You may also like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], to incorporate that same leen ending with the Ev- beginning of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]?
[name_f]Enna[/name_f] is also my favorite! I would have picked [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but I strongly dislike nickname [name_f]Emma[/name_f] (though if you’d end up using [name_f]Emme[/name_f] or [name_f]Lina[/name_f] then [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]'s my choice for number one)
I like how unique but sweet and strong [name_f]Enna[/name_f] sounds! [name_f]Mae[/name_f] makes a really cute middle name for it too
If you don’t want to go the popular route, I would stay away from [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], lovely as they may be. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is very sweet!
[name_f]Enna[/name_f] is sweet, and I’m always a sucker for names with sentimental meaning. I think it probably will be misheard as ‘[name_f]Emma[/name_f]’ a fair bit, but that’s easy enough to correct.
Since no-one else has mentioned it, I thought I’d point out that [name_f]Enna[/name_f] seems a reasonable (if not exactly obvious nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (or [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]). I do think [name_f]Enna[/name_f] is fine on its own, but I thought I’d note that option jut in case.
I love [name_f]Enna[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], my daughter’s middle
name is also [name_f]Mae[/name_f] after a family member. The only hesitation I have about [name_f]Enna[/name_f] is that people might hear “[name_f]Emma[/name_f]” most of the time But since it is a family name and it is lovely and simple I would still use it.
