New baby on the way! Please rate our name options?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I jist found out we’re expecting an addition to our family in [name_u]March[/name_u]! We have a collection of names we’re contemplating, and I wanted to ask the input of all you wonderful name geniuses! This will be a sibling for [name_m]Brennen[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u].

We have one for each gender that we’re pretty solid on:

[name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m]

However, I want to make sure we’re prepared for any scenario, and my husband and I have a tough time finding names we agree on, so we’ve been trying to put together backup lists…

If we ended up with twin girls, we were thinking maybe

[name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u]

and if it was boy-and-girl twins, I feel a little odd about [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] with a double middle but [name_u]Sam[/name_u] without, however I’m struggling to come up with a second middle that sounds good with the other two of his names. Ideas??

Then there’s the question of two boys… and we’re most vague about that. The few names we both have said were viable options are:

…and no idea about pairing middles with those.

Sorry about the long and maybe confusing post! Is there any help for us??

[name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is good. And I don’t think this messes with the name too much, but I just thought of this and I wanted to make sure you were aware of this so you can make a confident choice for your child. :grinning: When I was looking at [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] and thought of a salamander. If you have realized this, awesome! But personally I like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_u]Andre[/name_u] as an alternative.
I think [name_u]Andre[/name_u] could go with some of the other names you had on your boy list. Also, if you wanted double middles on the boy/girl twin side, possibly add one of the names from your boy list into the middle of [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] to balance it out.
I feel like [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] have very different feels to them to be a twin pair, although they do balance out when you put together [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u]. It feels like [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] go together and [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] and [name_u]River[/name_u] go together. So according to me, these names together feel “off”.
But if you love it, you love it.

Me too, as well as Scamander. When I say the names out loud, they sound like one name. BUT—it’s rare that first and middle names get said together like that, so if you’re set on [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_m]Ander[/name_m], I don’t think it’s a problem. You could consider something like [name_m]Leander[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Zander[/name_m]/Xander…

With [name_m]Ander[/name_m], maybe these second middles will spark an idea for you…

Sam [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Atlas[/name_u]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_m]Bowen[/name_m]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Cove[/name_u]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_m]Koen[/name_m]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_m]Liev[/name_m]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Miles[/name_u] or [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]!

Personally, I’d prefer to have all my children with the same number of middle names but that’s just me. If you don’t mind then I don’t think it matters. On this basis, I would say I prefer [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] over [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u]. So, for boy/girl twins, I like [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m]. Both are great names and [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] is gorgeous!! I agree that [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] sounds a lot like salamander but I don’t think this is a problem if you love the name, go for it! Also, I second the suggestion of [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Levi[/name_u] and I like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] from your list of further boy names if you decided to go with double middles.

For girl/girl twins, I like that [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is modern partnered with classic and [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] is classic partnered with modern. I also think [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] and [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] sound super pretty together.

For boy/boy, how about [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m]? Or [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Aksel[/name_m] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m]? I think all these names work together perfectly!

Good luck! :four_leaf_clover:

We did realize the salamander similarity… and then we shrugged and kind of said, oh well! He wouldn’t be called by his fist and middle names together very often if at all, and we thought that if it really came down to it, we might even be able to play it off as a quirky/silly nickname. It’d probably work in our family dynamic, lol!

I see what you’re saying about [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] having a different feel, stylistically, to them. I think that’s been bothering me a bit too. If it came to that, [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] would probably end up being called [name_u]Sam[/name_u] or [name_u]Sammie[/name_u] more than her full name.

I love [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Atlas[/name_u], [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Cove[/name_u] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u]!

In all honesty, I prefer just [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] over [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] as well… but [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is very important for my husband and [name_u]River[/name_u] is important to me, so it was a compromise. [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Ander[/name_m] would be awesome, I’ll have to mention that one to my husband! Also, I LOVE both [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Aksel[/name_m]!!
