New Create a Family With a Twist

[name_f]Régine[/name_f] [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] Tremblay (54) is [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] 's and his older sibling’s mother and [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] 's ex-wife as well as the mother of [name_m]Armand[/name_m] 's illegitimate son and a former mistress of [name_m]Armand[/name_m]. She is all about living the high life and drinking wine while networking with the wealthy of the community. She only married [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] because [name_u]Henri[/name_u] Boisclair made her believe like his family was close to the elites which at the time it absolutely wasn’t. That’s why when [name_m]Pierre[/name_m] Boisclair , [name_u]Henri[/name_u] 's older son , got a PhD and then began working as a reasercher specialising in [name_u]French[/name_u] [name_m]History[/name_m] , [name_u]Henri[/name_u] started to prioritize him as a son because unlike [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] , [name_m]Pierre[/name_m] actually elevated the status of the family by becoming part of the academic elites , especially after the publication of his book with [name_f]Amelie[/name_f].

[name_f]Régine[/name_f] was never an attentive mother and only cared about the image of her family rather than it actually being loving and functional. She made most of the financial decisions and was also the provider of the family by working as a flight attendant. This let to her frequently travelling from [name_f]Canada[/name_f] to [name_u]France[/name_u] for work and also led [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] to essentially become a single father to [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] and his older child even before the couple divorced. [name_f]Régine[/name_f] 's most beloved hobby was buying expensive perfume and one time she decided to pretend like she’s flying to [name_u]Paris[/name_u] for work while in reality she flew there as a tourist to buy perfume from obscure brands only known in [name_u]France[/name_u]. As she confessed to her equally snobby Canadian friend “She was sick of the cheap duty-free garbage at the airpoirt”. This is how she stumbled upon the brand Labossiere Perfumes and became enchanted enough with one of the fragrances that she wrote to the CEO of the company by singing praises to the coffee-like , heavy but sweet fragrance with a touch of musk and lemon grass. Then , she made an offer - she would contact her airlines in order for Labossiere Perfumes to sign an exclusive contract with the airline and sell the perfume in business class of their plane, as long as she gets 5% of the profits. It sounded like a deal both to the airline and to the new CEO at the time, [name_m]Armand[/name_m] Labosierre, who arranged a meeting with the enterprenurial spirit.

Quickly, he and [name_f]Régine[/name_f] began being romantically involved and [name_f]Régine[/name_f] became pregnant with [name_m]Armand[/name_m] 's son out of wedlock. She wanted to commit paternity fraud but knew that [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] would have no reason to believe that the child was his because they were rarely close together after the birth of their children who were both close in age.

Ironically , the person who was in favour of the paternity fraud plan was her father-in-law - [name_u]Henri[/name_u] , for whom [name_f]Régine[/name_f] was the perfect daughter-in-law due to also having the philosophy that life is about showing everyone that you’re the best and never admitting that you were in the wrong because it’s a sign of weakness. [name_u]Henri[/name_u] and [name_f]Régine[/name_f] liked eachother , however [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] felt that the betrayal was too much and divorced her anyway which was the first time he openly said no to the influence of [name_u]Henri[/name_u] and moved with young [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] and the other child to the UK. Meanwhile [name_f]Régine[/name_f] gave birth to Armand’s son and proceeded to travel to [name_u]France[/name_u] regularly to convince him that her son should be heir to the Labossiere fortune. She now intensified her level pf trying after finding out that [name_m]Armand[/name_m] 's wife is dead. She has hopes that she can marry [name_m]Armand[/name_m] , secure the inheritance for her illegitimate son and of course - live off of [name_m]Armand[/name_m] 's fortune after he dies of kidney failure. She is venomous towards [name_u]Simone[/name_u] , who knows how calculated [name_f]Régine[/name_f] truly is - but also [name_u]Simone[/name_u] recognises that that it’s her twisted way of showing love towards her son , a feeling she never developed for [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] or his sibling because she was never close to them due to travelling for work. She is ignorant of the fact that [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] is dating one of Armand’s more recent former mistresses - she would have been equally venomous to her if she had known , but fortunately she is ignorant of [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] 's or her older child’s life because she doesn’t care about them or [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] in the slightest.

mw: depression

Vincent " Vince " Emile Tremblay (27) is Régine’s son with Armand and the older half-brother of Clyde. Life has always proven to be difficult for Vince: his identity’s tied to two dubious people, who’ve caused a great deal of emotional damage, while showing little remorss and merely trying to ignore the past (in the case of Armand especially). Régine always pressured him to initiate contact, beginning her ploy when he was only ten years old and still eager to win her approval - as she typically treated love as something to be earned by her children instead of freely given - but this would only end in rejection, due to his father’s bizarre obsession with legitimacy (arguably tied to wanting to keep his dirty laundry in the rumour mill, opposed to airing it out). Family has subsequently become painful for Vincent, who chooses to separate himself from most of his biological relatives, although Clyde is someone he loves dearly and regularly tries to see; which can be a little tricky, as Vince lives and works in Bournemouth, where he’s settled and travels to France at random intervals - typically when he knows his mother’s on another one of her trips, scheming no doubt.

Inheritance means absolutely nothing to Vince now. He spent years trying to fit the mold of his father, one his mother insisted on for him, but found absolutely no joy in business or the chemistry side of the perfume industry; dropping out of university less than a year in thanks to how suffocating he found the charade (much to the ire of Régine, who thought she’d finally found the perfect ploy to collect his inheritance). Instead, he ended up training as a carpenter, and works primarily in restoration - which Régine thinks is respectable enough for Armand - while doing side and commission projects to keep his finances comfortable. Even if his father took interest in Vince for managing to settle and find success independently of his heritage, he doesn’t want to try and forge a deeper connection. He empathises with Armand’s condition and illness, believing he should access help (if only to make amends with Amelie and Freddie, as well as meet his granddaughter), but the way his father spoke of him causes Vince to not really want to spend much time in his company, unless asked. The relationship between Clyde and his father’s former mistress also makes him somewhat wary, as he doesn’t want to see his brother dragged into the web his mother resides in; never mind the fact it involves the father who made him feel worthless and dejected.

At 20, Vince was diagnosed with depression, following leaving university in the South of France hastily. This came several years late though, as symptoms of his mental state could be noticed when he was in his mid-teens; especially his emotional exhaustion and low self-worth, often making depreciating jokes that fell into being especially harsh about himself. His parents don’t know this - as Vince cannot imagine what else Armand would think about ‘a bastard with mental health problems’, whereas Régine would see it as a point to be used in her sympathy game - but his loved one’s do, including the large friend group he’s amassed over time. This includes people he met while travelling with his mum years ago, to fellow uni dropouts, to people he met after settling down in Bournemouth and getting into the live music scene - stemming from his interest in sound mixing and experimenting with decks (which Vince still does from time-to-time). However the person who knows him best is his partner - who he met through a custom piece for the school they work at - and he feels blessed to have them in his life, as they’re always a listening ear and source of empathy: something Vince grew up entirely lacking.

maturity warning: character is the product of an affair
trigger warning: homophobia

[name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] [name_u]Dominique[/name_u] [Reaux] Reaux-Quenneville (61) is one of Armand’s half-siblings and the aunt of [name_m]Vince[/name_m], who only recently got in contact with him after some deliberations. Like his son, Mr. Laboissiere had no qualms about conducting affairs, and [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] was a product of one of these, having an animosity towards her brother like the rest of her late father’s daughters possess. For [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f], it’s a little different though. Her dislike towards [name_m]Armand[/name_m] stems from how she felt he repeated the cruelties of their father: dismissing his female children because of the obsession with a male heir, and placing such a value on legitimacy, when - as far as Jacinthe’s concerned - all children should be valued equally, regardless of their parents marital status.

Another reason [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] was rejected by her father was her coming out as gay when she was in her early-20s, something that caused him to publically disown her - following a slew of disgusting vitriol directed at her and her mother (who apparently was to blame for not ‘teaching’ her daughter - more than a little hypocritical giving Jacinthe’s father only saw her 4 times in her life before this). She met her wife a few years before she turned 30 and they lived as partners until applying for a civil partnership, but they use the term ‘wife’ for one another and it’s how their friends refer to them. They’re situated in Boulogne-sur-Mer and adopted two children together: their eldest, who’s non-binary, and their younger son. Recently, [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] welcomed her first grandchild: something she was ecstatic about and frequently offers to babysit as she adores her granddaughter (and is pleased her eldest wants to have a big family).

[name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] is close with one of her half-sisters, who currently lives in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], who she got into contact with after the older woman also came out as queer (and faced the wrath of their awful father). They would like to see the family be able to come together in some manner, but this will be difficult due to the bad blood and complexities, so for now they’re focusing on just getting by as a smaller unit - with hopes on hosting a reunion at Jacinthe’s home, where [name_m]Vince[/name_m] and his partner will be welcome too.

[name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] [Quenneville] Reaux-Quenneville [61] is Jacinthe’s wife. She was born in [name_f]Tahiti[/name_f] and moved to mainland [name_u]France[/name_u] when she was 10. She’s the maternal aunt of [name_m]Yves[/name_m], [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u], and their younger 13-year-old sister but isn’t close with their parents because they are too strict on them. Jolie’s sister is younger than her but she always had a tyrannical approach. About the subject of [name_m]Armand[/name_m], none of the [name_u]Roux[/name_u] siblings have met him personally but [name_m]Yves[/name_m] himself has snarked, “I’m so forever alone that a misogynist elderly dude who can’t get a damn kidney has a love life and I don’t.” Although [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] knows [name_m]Yves[/name_m] is always snarky, he’s still seen the issue more respectfully to both sides but can’t get past Armand’s prejudice on illegitimate children, seeing that [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] is a teen father-to-be and isn’t married. Both of them want to see [name_m]Armand[/name_m] change for the better. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] can’t help but like that their last name is [name_u]Roux[/name_u], which is similar to her wife’s maiden name Reaux. She’s about to have a great-nephew and great-niece when [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] have their boy/girl twins. She was surprised that [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] is having children as a teenager but never judged him. Some toxic people who know [name_m]Armand[/name_m] judge [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] for this, but she always defends him because she knows [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] is incredibly selfless. The [name_u]Roux[/name_u] siblings don’t know about this since they live so far away but once they heard their own strict mother, Jolie’s sister, badmouthing and using the excuse, “Unlike my own younger son, I follow my gut instinct,” in which [name_m]Yves[/name_m] said, “Don’t follow your gut instinct, it’s literally full of crap.”

[name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is wise and loves her family, not being close with her sister at all but would invite her nephews and niece if they ever had the reunion [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] had planned. Still, she supports Jacinthe’s new bond with her Canadian half-sister and appreciates her as a fellow queer woman. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] hasn’t personally seen her that much and when she does, she’s with [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f], but she loves her strong and warm personality. She and [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] feel Boulogne-sur-Mer is a great place to raise their children. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] used to work in a university in [name_u]Paris[/name_u] but left after not feeling a good vibe from the other professors, particularly [name_m]Pierre[/name_m]. She now works in a better workplace environment in Boulogne-sur-Mer and is a geography professor. She and [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] are happy their adoptive children are intelligent and and kind people and are more than welcome to meet their new granddaughter.

[name_f]Viviane[/name_f] [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] Reaux-Quenneville (23) is the child of [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f]. Their life is very happy- they live with their partners and their one daughter- though they’re planning to add more to their family. They love their sweet little brother and hope they don’t drift apart ever- their brother really enjoys being an uncle to a baby girl and often volunteers to babysit. [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] gave birth to their baby, and Viviane’s daughter has proclaimed [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] is her favorite parent, much to the chagrin of her other parents. [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] wasn’t always as happy as they are now- they were born on a farm in southern [name_u]France[/name_u], in a big family. Their mother was a housewife, and their father was an agricultural worker who was awfully disrespectful towards his workers- and his children. When [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] was only seven, he hanged himself as he was drowning in debt and saw it as the only way out, and their mother was left penniless. She was then forced to give up all of her children one by one despite trying to scrape up all the money she could. She decided her children would have a better life elsewhere though she truly meant well- she left [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] on the streets with their youngest brother, who was born with a debilitating birth defect. Despite their young age at the time [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] proved to be an exceptional caretaker- until the [name_u]French[/name_u] officials took them in with their brother and placed them into the foster care system. Their counselor was a mean and deceptive woman who placed them into the care of a widowed old woman, who’d beat [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] when they refused to do work, and even pressed a hot iron onto their face as a cruel form of punishment. When [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] transferred foster homes they were very happy. It took a while for them to actually trust [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], though they came to love the two women with all of their heart and consider them as mothers. Viviane’s little brother instantly loved his mothers and connected with them. [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] was left with scars after staying with their old foster mother and would often wear long sleeved shirts up until high school- they transitioned sophomore year, and [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] were very accepting of her. [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] has since decided to embrace their scars- though life has been very tough for them and all of their partners are worried about them. Their polycule is very worried about their mental health and is willing to do anything to help them, as are their two mothers and their wonderful younger brother- who has just turned 10 and gotten the help that he needs with his condition. [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] is glad that they have gotten through all of this and are now with the people who love them most, and they feel they’re exactly where they’re meant to be despite the struggles.

tw: uncensored homophobia

[name_u]Maxime[/name_u] [name_f]Adrianna[/name_f] " [name_u]Max[/name_u] " Blanc (22) is one of Viviane’s partners and a new addition to the polycule. Initially, [name_u]Max[/name_u] was just a mutual friend of the polycule before they all confessed to her— which led [name_u]Max[/name_u] to have a teary-eyed realisation that they were allowed to love multiple people at once. [name_u]Max[/name_u] is the disowned daughter of a pastor and his wife, who decided that [name_u]Max[/name_u] was no longer their daughter once she came out as bisexual. She was kicked out at 16, forced to live on the streets whilst going to school at the same time. Because she wasn’t able to go to college, [name_u]Max[/name_u] became a tattoo artist’s apprentice instead. She quickly excelled and has become an underground name around her community.

Despite Max’s harsh introduction into the real world and a strong dislike for her father’s misuse of religion, being raised in that sort of environment has given her struggles of internalised homophobia. Sometimes she struggles with the idea that she’s allowed to love who she wants to love, and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] and the rest of her partners are all there to support her. [name_u]Max[/name_u] isn’t the best with children, but she likes that Viviane’s daughter calls her “Auntie Max”.

[name_f]Dulcinea[/name_f] " [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] " [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] Northridge (22) is Max’s best friend, and met her because their sibling’s the other member of the polycule. Having been born and raised in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m], [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] came to [name_u]France[/name_u] to visit their sibling after ultimately realising they weren’t going to go to university, and wanted to start afresh while not completely disconnected from their family. Knowing what [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] went through makes [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] even more appreciative of their own parents: who are nothing but kind, loving and supportive people who consider the partners of their children no different than extended blood relatives. After working some menial jobs to pay rent, [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] ended up involved in gallery work - purely accidental after their sibling recommended this to them - and now is involved in an exhibition network that specialises in pop-up events for small artists; being in charge of the social media management to garner interest and spread awareness of upcoming displays. They love their job as it compliments Dulcie’s interest in people perfectly, helped by the fact they’ve got a catalogue of random trivia perfect for any conversation.

Children are also something they handle well, especially their niece, although they can’t babysit as much due to working unpredictable hours and also living with three other friends who tend to like some peace and quiet (not exactly unanimous with children). [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] knows they want to become a parent themselves some day but not immediately, as they’d like to travel some more and also ideally find a partner with a schedule that compliments their own - as companionship is absolutely something they love, be it familial (how they count their pet gecko, [name_u]Virgil[/name_u], and no-one can tell them otherwise), platonic or romantic. For how much they love meeting people, dating terrifies [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] - who feels very inexperienced when it comes to romance - and they tend to ask their sibling or [name_u]Max[/name_u] for advice, especially now there’s suspicions one of their art contacts has plans on asking them out.

[name_f]Christine[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] Northridge (26) is Dulcie’s older sister. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] love giving advice to [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] about relationships but only when they want to talk about it. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] has an untraditional love story, she was actually a single mother to one girl, Dulcie’s niece. However unlike most happily single mothers, [name_f]Christine[/name_f] wanted love, not just to raise her daughter, but true love in a serious relationship. When [name_f]Christine[/name_f] was 23, she found the woman of her dreams, who is also a single mother to 1. They married six months ago and their children are stepsiblings. [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] loves children and loves how the blended family is working out so well for both kiddos and how they act like genuine siblings. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] is still close with her own parents and works as a hairstylist at their salon. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] has a younger sister-in-law who is a great friend to [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] and lives with them and their other two friends, who also loves children but relates to how crazy they can be and wants to live away for now.

[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] ’ Ferro ’ [name_m]Willis[/name_m] Northridge (24) is the middle Northridge sibling and member of the polycule with [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f], as well as the third parent to their child [and technically the other biological parent with [name_f]Viviane[/name_f], but they prefer to avoid using this terminology]. Working as a model and co-owning a zine printing business, Ferro’s genderfluid and uses they/he pronouns interchangeably, having moved to [name_u]France[/name_u] because their best friend - and business partner - wanted to move to where he grew up to be closer to his stepfather, who’s currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Being bilingual, it only took Ferro two months to make their mind up about making the step to reunite with him - as the zine printing was easier when they were both in the same studio - even if saying goodbye to their beloved parents was a big step. They’re in constant contact with them and [name_f]Christine[/name_f] though, with Ferro and [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] being the only people to refer to her by the nickname ‘Chris’ [one coined when they were very small, and it’s never gone away for them at least].

Currently, Ferro and [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] are planning a trip to visit their family back in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m], as they want to spend more time with Christine’s young family, and Ferro would like their 8-month-old to finally meet her grandparents, who she’s heard so much about and vidchatted with, but never met. They have some of Dulcie’s social inclinations too, but are nowhere as at ease as them, and the two have a joke about Ferro needing lessons from their sibling. Given Max’s career as a tattooist, Ferro is also currently working on a zine collaboration with her that’s bought them even closer together, as they do sometimes worry about her feeling left out as the newest member; but don’t want to set any expectations up either, and make her feel pressured into taking big steps.

[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (23) is one of the other polycule members. Bun uses she/bun in everyday conversation, and while bun’s parents were similar to Max’s in that they thought bun was delusional, and dismissed bun’s feelings, [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] is trying to push through bun’s trauma and forget it ever happened to bun, as bun is worried that bun will destroy the polycule’s dynamic. [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] acts as the therapist friend and mom friend both in bun’s friend group and polycule. Bun often listens to the others vent about their traumatic experiences, and while bun has no problem with that bun wishes others would listen to bun more. As mentioned earlier, [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] have very similar backgrounds though Ferelith’s parents were not as hyper religious as Max’s own. [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] was born in [name_m]Limerick[/name_m], [name_u]Ireland[/name_u], and bun’s family moved to [name_u]France[/name_u] when bun was younger as bun’s father worked as a salesman, which required him to transfer locations. Bun’s parents were very xenophobic and when [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] came out as xenogender at the age of 10, bun’s parents shunned bun and considered bun to not be their daughter anymore, which severely hurt bun. All of that ended when [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] met [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] in college- the two started out as friends, which blossomed into a full blown relationship. The two met another polycule member and both simultaneously developed a crush on this person, and then later decided to date them…bun didn’t meet Ferro until college age, and the two are very close and often joke about having similar names. [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] often spend time together as [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] was the first one to meet [name_u]Max[/name_u], and suggested introducing her to their polycule. [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] loves bun’s daughter and fully considers bunself to be a mother.

[name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] [name_m]Laurent[/name_m] Boisclair (26) is a former member of Ferelith‘s polycule. He is Philippe’s older son, Clyde’s brother, and Vince’s half-brother. He gets along with his father but never wants to contact his mother, but gives credit that at least she isn’t bigoted against anyone’s gender or sexuality. [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] had a few reasons why he didn’t feel right in the polycule; he’s older than the other members, he doesn’t want kids, and truthfully he wasn’t into polyamory. Deep down some people believe Ferro took his spot since he joined when [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] left, but both [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] and Ferro know Ferro isn’t a “replacement Gaspard”. He’s tried his best to stay friends despite Gaxit, the nickname for [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] exiting the polycule, which is actually a term he came up with sarcastically. [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] has still been good friends with the polycule and helps them when any members need advice one-on-one with someone not in the group. Although he and Ferro never co-existed in the polyamory, he gets along with Ferro the most due to them both being models. He gets along with Ferro’s friend as well and he credits Ferro’s friend for making it less awkward that he’s no longer in the polycule. [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] is proudly child-free but is always kind to the 8-month-old daughter — she’s a really sweet baby.

Tw: drinking problem and abusive dad

[name_m]Sebastien[/name_m] [name_f]Xin[/name_f] “ [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] “ Wang (20) is the final member of the 5-person polycule and the boyfriend of [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f], Ferro and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f]. He’s also the father of the 8-month-old baby- he considers himself a father despite biology, and the baby even refers to him as her father- along with Ferro. [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] are mommies, and [name_u]Max[/name_u] is of course the cool auntie. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] appreciates [name_u]Max[/name_u] and her dry, sarcastic sense of humor, and is glad the polycule welcomed her. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] grew up in a home where him and his sisters were targeted by their evil, drunk father, and when their father had his kids taken away from him [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] was glad as his sisters and him could finally be safe. Bastien’s middle sister is 15, and his youngest sister is 10 and best friends with Viviane’s younger brother. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] wasn’t a part of the polycule when [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] was, so he doesn’t know him very well and isn’t too familiar with him but from what Ferro has said to him he wants to meet [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] as he seems like a nice person. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] is a very observant person and has noticed that [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] hasn’t been acting like bunself lately and whenever someone tries to vent bun happily offers to help but looks a bit sad deep down- he’s tried to ask bun what’s wrong but bun has always kept bun’s feelings bottled up, and bun isn’t used to telling other people about bun’s personal things. However [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] is always there to support bun. Of the five polycule members [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] is the main source of income- he works three jobs and his stress is off the charts lately. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] has severe chronic anxiety and often bites his nails to stubs- this may have been caused by his father and their relationship when it existed. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] is naturally a very talented mathematics person (How does it feel to live my dream?), so he often counts up all the paychecks and adds them up though all the other people in the polycule assure him that money is fine, as there are five of them and obviously they make a lot more money than two people (well all of them need therapy so if you suck that out of their paycheck it’s the same as like half a person) but [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] refuses to listen to any of them, he refuses to listen to logical arguments. And deep down he knows they’re right. But when he gets home and finishes his work, the one thing he considers worth all the work is his young daughter- he vows to provide her a better life than his own as a baby. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] is considering proposing to [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]- bun was the first polycule member he met as he met bun first despite [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] having a crush on him at the same time, and he hopes bun and him can maybe have their own biological child so that his daughter could have a brother or sister. However anxiety is eating him alive and every time he tries to propose he’s interrupted by soemthing- if not he’s consumed by anxiety already. But he knows he’ll muster up the courage to do it someday- because he knows he loves bun more than he cares about his anxiety and he’s not going to let anxiety win.

[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Xiaoyi Beaumont-Wang (19) is Sebatien’s cousin. [name_m]Born[/name_m] to a white mother and Chinese father, [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] has struggled with her cultural identity for most of her life. Oddly enough, it was her mother who helped the most when it came to embracing Chinese culture— telling her there was nothing wrong with her and that regardless of how she looks, she’s always going to be part Chinese. She loves her father’s culture and wishes to go to [name_f]China[/name_f] someday.

Maybe her lack of identity is what drew [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] to makeup— she could paint over what she couldn’t make sense of and give meaning to it. Though she’s at university for organic chemistry (Lucille’s love for science rivals her love for makeup), [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] makes makeup tutorials for YouTube and TikTok, and has been enjoying the surprise from her audience that she’s actually a STEM student having fun. She has genuinely thought about pursuing makeup as a career, but she doesn’t want to turn a comfort into a job for her. She never wants to be forced to do makeup. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] has a lot of PR packages from companies, though, and gives them to her friends and family for free.

When [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] went to university, she was amazed to find people like her— a lot of the times she felt like she was the only one who had those issues, even if she knew that wasn’t true. Her core friend group, six people including her, is full of mixed people and people who grew up outside of their culture. They all bonded over the confusion and the solidarity that comes with not belonging anywhere. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] thinks she’s made a home with her friends and hopes they’ll continue to be friends for a long, long time.

[name_f]Portia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] Callaghan-Sanchez (19) is one of Lucille’s close friends who she met through university, majoring in [name_f]English[/name_f] Language and Linguistic studies. Having been adopted from Ecuador when she was ten months old, [name_f]Portia[/name_f] grew up in a household with little connection to her roots: nothing intentional on the behalf of her parents, they were just cut off entirely from their daughters’ heritage, and she was their first adopted child. Her only tie was her retaining her birth mother’s surname as part of her own, but [name_f]Portia[/name_f] nevern quite felt ready to try reaching out to uncover more about her biological family. It was in middle school when [name_f]Portia[/name_f] began trying to discover herself, and she began learning Spanish - which unlocked her interest in speech therapy a few years later, as she learned more about communication and how she compared to her peers who had been raised in bilingual households. She’s almost fluent now but doesn’t have much confidece speaking and prefers writing, having a correspondence with an online friend she’s made in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u], who’s been her biggest support in connecting with her heritage.

Lack of confidence is what influences [name_f]Portia[/name_f] a lot: she worries easily and tends to have imposter syndrome at the best of times, meaning to some classmates she seems slightly neurotic about her studies. Group projects are her absolute worst nightmare and she’s relieved to have such a strong support network in her friends, who don’t judge her for being so determined to do well, while giving her advise to minimise her anxieties. She is a very talented climber - trees, rocks, walls - and has a good head when facing heights; belonging to her universities society, and she dives for fun too - but not competitively, as [name_f]Portia[/name_f] couldn’t imagine anything worse for herself. Her parents regularly check in and she knows they feel guilty for how she was cut off from her heritage, but [name_f]Portia[/name_f] doesn’t resent them and understands they were trying their best to just help her settle and feel loved in their home. What she doesn’t miss so much is her little sister frequently borrowing her clothes without asking, as [name_f]Portia[/name_f] absolutely loves coordinating her ensembles, and having the rhythm disrupted annoys her like little else.

There’s also a pretty cute guy who comes to the smoothie bar where she works 3 shifts a week but Portia’s friends are very gentle with their teasing as they know she just wants to approach him when her anxiety isn’t at its peak.

[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Jihyun " [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] " [name_u]Kim[/name_u] (18) is part of [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and Portia’s friend group. [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] and [name_f]Portia[/name_f] relate to each other a lot: [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] was born and raised away from [name_u]South[/name_u] Korea, the only connection to her roots being her middle name and being able to speak Korean. [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] had to be the translator for her immigrant parents since she was young, and she’s soon become an expert in both languages. Other than that, [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] hasn’t been surrounded by many Korean-Americans, and wishes she could find those like her. She’s planning on studying abroad in Korea soon, and is extremely excited for it. Her parents have apologised for not going back to Korea during holidays and such, but [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] knows it was because they wanted her to focus on her studies in the states. She’s downloaded a foreign language app and has connected with fellow Koreans who want to learn [name_f]English[/name_f], and she’s befriended a boy her age.

[name_u]Kitty[/name_u] is a dance major— starting from ballet and ending up in street/urban dancing. The style she prefers is the latter: ballet gave her severe body dysmorphia and to this day she has trouble with how she looks like in mirror. Her friends at university have noticed this and are very kind to [name_u]Kitty[/name_u], often eating with her and being gentle with her in her recovery. Being a dancer also means she’s extremely hard on herself and compares herself to others, something [name_f]Portia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], and the rest of her friends are trying to stop. She knows it’s not kind to herself to do that, but [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] knows she has to improve some way or another, and is working on feeling neutral first before practising self-love. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] steps, she says, is the easiest way for her.

Kitty’s also been playing wingman and has asked the boy from the smoothie bar if he thought [name_f]Portia[/name_f] was cute, pretending to not know her. He said “yes”, so [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] has given [name_f]Portia[/name_f] the signal that she can go ahead and talk to him.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] Reaux-Quenneville (8 months old) is [name_f]Viviane[/name_f], Ferro, [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] and [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] ‘s baby. She knows [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] because she’s done video chats with [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. [name_u]Kitty[/name_u] thinks [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is adorable, and wants to meet her in person someday, and maybe even babysit her. Ivy’s favorite pasttimes are finger painting, dancing and rolling around in the sun, and [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] adores her along with all her other parents. They spoil [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and the rest of their polycule always tell them that too…

TW: eating disorders

Ailbhe Sinead Griffin (18) is one of Ivy’s aunts, the younger sister of Ferelith and a close friend of Kitty. The pair’s closeness stems from their mutual struggles with their relationships with food, Ailbhe having first developed bulimia in reaction to the toxic home environment that slowly became more and more overbearing as she grew up; piquing when Ferelith’s expression of bun’s gender identity caused the Griffin’s to react by tightening their control on Ailbhe as a means of coping. Their biggest concern with her struggle was hiding it from anyone who they looked up to, barely permitting their younger child to attend a support group, and monitoring what she said there obsessively.

What they underestimated though, was Ailbhe’s ability to be proactive, especially as she came to desire to break away more and more. With the help of Kitty, who she didn’t fully open up to until they met in person (as Ailbhe hates the idea of burdening anyone, something her current therapist attributes to her parents obsession with their narrow-minded view on ‘normality’ and how they projected it onto both her and Ferelith in different ways), she applied for university in America; albeit not the same one Kitty, Lucille and Portia are attending - as Ailbhe based her application on most affordable accommodation - but an hour away on the train, so she hangs out with their group whenever she has a spare moment on her fashion communications course.

The Griffin’s were so eager to escape any kind of social judgment, they happily accepted the idea of Ailbhe studying abroad, although it was hard for her to be apart from Ferelith - who she’d managed to secretly maintain a relationship with (as being as quiet as she is, Ailbhe rebelling is something her parents never considered). Her parents did subsequently learn all she’d been up to and promptly disowned Ailbhe, after threats about somehow ending her scholarship failed to drag her back to them; but she’s managed to come to terms with things, knowing it’s for the best in the long run that all contact is cut off. Like Kitty, Ailbhe’s now taking things in her life slowly, enjoying the little things like going the beach with her uni friend group, attending live music events (as one of her friend’s is in a notorious college circuit band: Mercury Poisoning) and going for hikes to clear her head.

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] “ [name_f]Molly[/name_f] “ O’Leary [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (52) is the mother of [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] and [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u]. She’s also the grandmother of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], though [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] doesn’t know her and will never know her thanks to [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]. Bun cut bun’s mother out of bun’s life a long time ago and is now living with no regrets- however [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u] is still connected with her. [name_m]Born[/name_m] into a very wealthy family, in a mansion nestled between the city of [name_u]Dublin[/name_u] and the countryside, [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and her sisters had always been taught to marry rich, and that if you’re pretty you can achieve anything- if not, you’d better scrape up all the money you can find and get plastics. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] was very conventionally pretty back when she was young and made her youngest sister feel terrible about herself- that sister cut [name_f]Molly[/name_f] out of her life completely, and is still living in [name_u]Dublin[/name_u]. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] sees her youngest sister as pathetic and doesn’t envy her at all. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] developed an ED in her youth as an attempt to “perfect herself” and she is still picky around food, and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] encourages the behaviors in her daughter [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u]. She even insults [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u] as an attempt to “motivate her” to lose a couple more pounds.

[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] was always Ailbhe’s protector in her youth, telling her she was beautiful just as she was. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] never failed to hurt [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] or [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u] and traumatized [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] too. Molly’s oldest sister came out, and is living in the Irish countryside with the woman of her life happily now, but as a young child [name_f]Molly[/name_f] tormented her too, and made her feel awful when she did come out. Molly’s second-to-youngest sister lives in [name_u]France[/name_u] as well as [name_f]Molly[/name_f], and the two are still friends despite [name_f]Molly[/name_f] being blatantly rude whenever her sister makes a mistake. Her sister has never dated a man which [name_f]Molly[/name_f] finds suspicious- her sister’s friends with [name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and is planning to actually come out as well. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] would never accept her though. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] met her husband at a gala hosted by the O’Leary parents and decided that he had enough money and she could totally get him- which worked until he turned out to be terribly abusive and awful. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] stayed with him as money is her primary motive in life and it’s the only thing she cares about at this point. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and Ailbhe’s relationship could maybe be fixed but not hers with [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]- she doesn’t even know that bun has a daughter. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is way too far gone- maybe nothing can save her now.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] Xueying " [name_f]Elle[/name_f] " [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (19) is one of Margaret’s adopted nieces and an adopted cousin of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] was adopted from [name_f]China[/name_f] when she was just a couple of months old, and her parents respected her heritage by keeping her name at birth. Contrary to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], who belittled her mother in her youth and thus kept [name_f]Elle[/name_f] away from the woman, Elle’s mum was an absolute sweetheart and helped [name_f]Elle[/name_f] grow into the young lady she is now. Whilst she stays away from [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] keeps contact with her cousins, even getting the news of Ivy’s birth and adoring the baby. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] has offered to babysit if the polycule is ever busy— [name_f]Elle[/name_f] loves children and wants some of her own someday.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is also part of [name_u]Kitty[/name_u], [name_f]Portia[/name_f], and Lucille’s friend group— [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] bonded over their cloudy connection with her [name_f]Asian[/name_f] culture. [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] knows [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is even more disconnected from [name_f]China[/name_f] than she is, and is currently also teaching her some Mandarin. Though [name_f]Elle[/name_f] knows she couldn’t visit [name_f]China[/name_f] when she was younger due to financial strains, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] doesn’t resent her mum at all and loves her deeply. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] has four siblings including herself, all adopted. She enjoys how diverse her home life is and happily immerses herself in her siblings’ heritages all around the world.

Other than her complicated home life and her struggles with her identity, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is glad to find her passion: she’s at university studying to become a forensic scientist. Admittedly, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] knows her career choice was partly made due to growing up around shows like CSI and the like, but she does believe she can make a difference in the world. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] despises the amount of missing people that aren’t found each year and she hopes that with her contributions to the world, that percentage might drop just a little.

[name_f]Eilis[/name_f] [name_f]Eithne[/name_f] [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (50) is Elle’s adoptive mother and Molly’s estranged sister. Given the way [name_f]Molly[/name_f] treated her children, they were no longer in contact with her and have no plans to do so and [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] makes sure [name_f]Molly[/name_f] never harasses them. She is in STEM as a physicist and loves making every day better through her knowledge of science. She also adores the periodic table of elements and finds [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] Poisoning to be a pretty epic scientific name for a band even though she doesn’t quite know their notoriety. She, [name_u]Ailbhe[/name_u], and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] are close and she and her wife act like alternate parents to her and bun. She doesn’t care if her sister finds her suspicious for never dating a man, she’s in a committed relationship with her wife and support all 4 of their adoptive children. If anything is really suspicious, it’s the criminal activity behind missing and exploited people, so [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] supports and motivates [name_f]Elle[/name_f] to pursue forensic science, after all her help would make every day better. [name_f]Eilis[/name_f] loves her Irish culture but never uses it to take away from other cultures, and wants to do better with aligning her children to their culture as much as possible.
