New Crushes - Thoughts? (Boy Edition)

I posted this same thread in the girls’ forum, but I wanted to do a boy edition, too!

Lately, I’ve been intentionally thinking of and looking for names that I haven’t really considered before - I feel like I needed a refresh from some of my old favorites. Below are a few names that have crossed my mind that I think I like, but I’m curious as to your opinions. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like/dislike any? Would you add any names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know of similar names?

My “random crush” list currently is:

[name_u]Carden[/name_u]
Colson
Everson
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] (old option, tabled it, wondering if it should come back on the list?)
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_m]Mack[/name_m]
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] (but our last name is a city name, so is this too theme-y?)
[name_m]Rawlins[/name_m]
[name_m]Reeves[/name_m]

[name_u]Carden[/name_u] - [name_u]Carden[/name_u] is one I’ve never heard of before. It’s interesting and it feels familiar but new. It does remind me of cardamon pods though
Colson - I like Colson - it reminds me of some other faves like [name_m]Colton[/name_m] and [name_m]Colman[/name_m]/[name_m]Coleman[/name_m]. It’s nice
Everson - I quite like it. I really like names that begin with ‘ev’ and this one is great
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]- [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is a sturdy name - classic but not overused
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] - [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is brilliant - I like the quirky, bright feel it has - it also feels really versatile
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] - [name_m]Mack[/name_m] is great - like [name_u]Kit[/name_u], it feels bubbly but strong
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] - I have to admit it’s not my fave, though it’s a decent name. I didn’t know it was a city, so I guess it depends on where you are and how familiar people would be with the city
[name_m]Rawlins[/name_m] - nice enough, but a little harsh for me
[name_m]Reeves[/name_m] - it’s been definitely growing on me. I like the distinctive sound and surnamey feel - it feels natury and concise

A few other similar names I’d suggest:
[name_m]Colman[/name_m]/[name_m]Coleman[/name_m]
[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m]
[name_m]Eben[/name_m]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_m]Weber[/name_m]/[name_m]Webster[/name_m]
[name_m]Killian[/name_m]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
[name_m]Pip[/name_m]
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]
[name_u]Reed[/name_u]
[name_m]Alby[/name_m]
[name_u]Dash[/name_u]
[name_u]Rafe[/name_u]
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m]
[name_u]Perrin[/name_u]
[name_m]Flint[/name_m]
[name_u]Calder[/name_u]
[name_u]Beck[/name_u]
[name_m]Orson[/name_m]

Sorry, that ended up as more than a few

I like [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] a lot on your list.

Colson, Everson, and [name_m]Mack[/name_m] just don’t do anything for me. I feel like there are similar names to all of these that grab my attention more.

[name_u]Carden[/name_u] is an interesting occupational name, my only concern with this one of people might think it’s a modern invented name.

I love [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u], as for whether it’s too much with your surname, I don’t know. It really depends. I think that it could work but it’s hard to say without knowing your surname.

[name_m]Rawlins[/name_m] and [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] are solid alternatives if you decide [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] is too much with your surname!

[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is very handsome, but looking at the rest of your list, seems to be the odd one out. I’dkeepvit tables as a first but maybe keep it open to consideration as a middle.

I love [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], and [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. I have a cousin named [name_u]Reeve[/name_u] and I think this works well, too.

Everson is my favorite I would absolutely use this but my surname is [name_m]Peterson[/name_m].

Thanks for the feedback! [name_u]Carden[/name_u] is an occupational name, but I honestly liked it after hearing it as a surname recently…as you can probably tell, I’m a sucker for surnames as firsts.

Also, I appreciate the suggestion of [name_u]Reeve[/name_u] vs. [name_m]Reeves[/name_m]. My grandmother who recently passed was named [name_f]Reva[/name_f] ([name_f]Ree[/name_f]-va) and I thought [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] would be a good nod to her…but [name_u]Reeve[/name_u] could also work!

I posted in the girls’ forum about [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and while most respondents liked it more than [name_u]Carden[/name_u], they also preferred it on a boy. I’ve never met a male [name_u]Arden[/name_u], so maybe that’s why it’s always “girl” to me.

I love this thread - keep any feedback/suggestions coming.

[name_u]Carden[/name_u] - I prefer [name_u]Carter[/name_u] or [name_u]Arden[/name_u]
Colson - This makes me want to say [name_m]Colton[/name_m]
Everson - I like this, reminds me of [name_u]Everett[/name_u]/[name_u]Everest[/name_u]/[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and might get lost in that mix
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] - Such a handsome classic!
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]!
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] not my style.
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] not my style, so I can’t get behind it
[name_m]Rawlins[/name_m] - This is very handsome and rough and tumble, I like it! Reminds me of [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] or something to that effect
[name_m]Reeves[/name_m] - I like this for a boy!

I love [name_u]Reeve[/name_u], that is my favorite name for a boy and I would use it if only DH liked it. Simple, unusual, but familiar enough for people to grasp. I also like [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

[name_u]Carden[/name_u]- I think [name_u]Carson[/name_u] works better
Colson- I would spell it Coleson but I do like it
Everson- fits in with classics like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] so I think it works
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]- good classic name
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]- I prefer this as a nickname for [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] or [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] but I do really like it
[name_m]Mack[/name_m]- same as above, I have [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m] on my list but you could also do [name_m]Cormack[/name_m] or [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] nn [name_m]Mack[/name_m]
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]- brings to mind Sir [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]
[name_m]Rawlins[/name_m]- similar enough to names like Rayland, [name_m]Roland[/name_m] and [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] that it works
[name_m]Reeves[/name_m]- I like this a lot

[name_u]Carden[/name_u]- I commented on this name in your post on the girls forum already.
Colson- Hmm. I’ve never heard this name before. It’s different. I don’t love it but I don’t dislike it either.
Everson- I’ve never heard this before either but I definitely prefer [name_u]Everett[/name_u].
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] (old option, tabled it, wondering if it should come back on the list?)- [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is a solid name. It’s just not a name that I personally just love.
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]- I just think this name works better for a girl.
[name_m]Mack[/name_m]- I’m not crazy about this name.
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] (but our last name is a city name, so is this too theme-y?)- I know this is a city name and it’s unisex but I can only picture it on a girl because the “-leigh” spelling is girly to me. But if your last name is a city name too then I think this name should definitely be avoided.
[name_m]Rawlins[/name_m]- I dislike this.
[name_m]Reeves[/name_m][/QUOTE]- I commented on this name in your other post too but I want to say once again that I think this name is really cool.

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Reeves[/name_m], Everson & [name_m]Rawlins[/name_m].

I’m not personally a fan of any of these names, but here are some suggestions:
