New Discovery

My partner and I went to church today, and I spotted a very unusual name in one of the hymnals: Mavorite! I had never seen it before and can find very little information about it. Has anyone else ever encountered this name before? And what do you think of it + how would you pronounce it?

How interesting! I’ve never seen this before. At first I read it as [name_u]Mar[/name_u] - rhyming with car - vor eet, then realised it could rhyme with favourite.

I’ve never seen this name before! [name_f]My[/name_f] instinct was to pronounce it like [name_u]Maverick[/name_u] but with a T at the end, mav-er-itt. [name_f]My[/name_f] second guess for be like ā€˜favorite’ with an M.

I think it’s cool! It reminds me of red and pink colors, and also makes me think of gemstones.

I think it would be an awesome middle! [name_f]My[/name_f] initial pronunciation was [name_u]Mar[/name_u] - vor - eet, rhyming with [name_f]Margurite[/name_f], but I can also see it being pronounced [name_u]Mar[/name_u] - vor - it, like favorite.

I’d pronounce it mah-vuh-REET, myself (ā€œmahā€ with the ā€œahā€ sound in ā€œapple), or MAEVE-ritt (to rhyme with ā€œfavoriteā€). That’s a beautiful name! I’m a fan! How cool to find in a hymnal, especially.
