Got a new baby name book and therefore I’m questioning my current girls list. [name_u]Baby[/name_u]’s not due til [name_u]January[/name_u], but I’m a planner. I still feel like I haven’t heard the one that sparks that feeling of “wow, that’s the one”. Anywho, here’s my current list, and some new ones I found. Should I add these in?

Edeline is so sweet to me. [name_m]Edsel[/name_m] was strong contender on our boys list until a friend used it. I feel this is a little similar, girls version. I like the nm [name_f]Edie[/name_f], too.

I’m assuming you’re pronouncing [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] the [name_u]French[/name_u] way not the Scandinavian way.

@Etymology thank you! You mean, Mah-tild vs Mah-tilda? I like [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] as Mah-tild and I do like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] as well. I love [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f]! [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] Aleidis is beautiful if Im pronouncing it the right way… Uh-lay-dis? Eh-lay-dis?
So if you’re pronouncing [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] as [name_u]Mat[/name_u]-hild I don’t think there’s a problem because that’s how an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker is going to read the name.
If you’re wanting to pronounce it more like the [name_u]French[/name_u] “mah-til/teel” where the d is softer, or the Danish “mah-teel-duh” then pronunciation may be a challenge.
I pronounce it the same as [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I don’t know if people would often find it difficult to pronounce, but as a mn, I doubt it would be too big a deal.
